The journey is finally over! First of all, thank you, Visa Journey! Without this forum, I don't know how I would have gotten through this. I saw a lot of persons told me that usually the petitioner is the one on the forum, in my case I was the beneficiary and I was the one that was heavily involved in the process because my husband is busy and not so techie.
Anyways, to get into it. The longest wait was the I-130, constant refreshing, constantly looking at what dates that were being processed at this website - https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/, but when I found visa journey, I soon discovered that it was 2 months behind and that gave me hope. I traveled throughout the time my petition was in, I was told that I would get turned back at POE because they might think I won't return. However, that never happened. Just ensure you carry a job letter and any other proof when you travel even though they never asked for one.
I was in the US when I submitted the package to NVC in January, so I was there to help my husband compile all the documents. They received it Jan 19 and I got a case complete February 20th. So this part of the process took 4 weeks. I got an interview date at the end of February, as I was told that the embassy sends over available slots at the end of the month. My date was April 26th. 2 months after case complete. Was not pleased about this but what to do but wait.
I ensured I compiled all the documents needed and all evidence I had of my relationship. That was pictures, bank statement and all financial documents. I also sorted them so that it was very easy to find whatever was requested from me.
DAY OF INTERVIEW
I had a 7:00 appointment, so I got there at 6:30. Joined a line and got to the security checkpoint. Unfortunately, my husband had his asthma pump and visor eye drops and I had some lipstick on my back and was turned back out. We thought, oh well, we just need to go and put the stuff in the car and get back in line. Unfortunately, the securities were having it. They sent us across the street to go stand with the applicants who had 8:00 am an appointment. It was so hot and uncomfortable. I asked why were we being sent there, they said it was a security breach and we are being punished so they will call us when they are ready but we will be sent back inside to do our appointment. It was not until 7:45 where we joined the line again to go back in. So a little word of advice, do not take anything but documents to the embassy. We got to the first counter and was given a number and told to wait for our number to be called. We waited, however, numbers after we were being called and that made us a little anxious. But not to worry guys, we later found out that it's not in any specific order because different agents have the documents. When my number was called, all she took was the birth certificate, police record, passport copy, pictures. Everything else she had and didn't need them. We were then told to sit down and wait for the consular to call us.
INTERVIEW:
My husband and I went up (yes the petitioner was with me)
We were asked to raise our hand and take the oath.
He asked me:
Have you ever committed any crime?
He asked my husband, are you filing for her?
He asked about crime again (not sure if he forgot he asked me)
He asked if I have ever been to the US
If I have any US visa, when was it issued, I said 2011
When did we meet, I told him 2011, he then asked, so you met him when you went up, I said no, I met him online and my first visa was actually 2007.
He said have you ever been to any other countries? I said yes, he said to name them. I listed all 5
He then asked, have you ever spent more than 6 months in any of these countries, I said no.
He asked if our parents were at the wedding, told him no, he said why? I told him because our wedding was not planned.I then saw he ticked a bracket on a form he had and then he said, seems you have been approved. So I said thank you butttt then the questions continued.
He asked my husband where he was born, he told him. He then asked me, how did my husband reach to the states.
he said have you ever met his parents? I said yes
He said have you guys done a trip together? I told him
He said what are their names? I told him
So I told him I have pictures with them if he would like to see, thats when he said, no thats Ok, I dont doubt you.I was like then why tell me I am approved then go back and ask me all these questions. lol
I have a trip this week so I needed my passport to be returned to me immediately, so i asked for it and it was returned the same day at 2:00 with visa stamped and package prepared.
Thanks again for all the support, and sorry for such long detailed review, I can't help myself lol. Feel free to contact me and ask me any questions

My friends!!
I just arrived with my wife from our interview, and her visa was approved!!!!!
I cant believe!!!! .. The person who gave us the interview was very nice and funny man, he just asked us a few questions..
What was the date of the wedding?
How we met?
How long do we have together?
He was asked, what I did, if I studied or worked?
the interview only lasted 3 minutes, and the man he did not ask us for any evidence, neither financial, nor our relationship..
I think it was because of how he saw us act, and because of the chemistry we brought.. (for that reason I think it's important to go with our partner to the interview).
The man said that the passport will be ready in less than 10 days!
Thanks very much to all who prayed for us, my best wishes on this long road!!!
Now a nice life awaits me with my wife, I'm so happy!!!!
What documents did they take from you though?

anyone here met your partner online? if so, how did the officer take that when told?

Of course! It was my husband who did the interview but I'll tell you what all he told me about it. His interview was scheduled for 10:30 AM, he got there at 10:10 and was out by 10:45 lol, he said it was super quick and easy. We were nervous before just because it was finally the last step but he said it was absolutely nothing to worry about, it felt like more of a formality to him then anything. They only asked him 3 questions 1. How we met 2. Where I live now 3. What I do for a job. He brought a ton of documents with him that were all listed on what to bring to the interview but the only documents they looked at for him were the DS-260 confirmation page, our marriage certificate, the police certificate, and then my most recent tax return (it was the day after tax day so they wanted to see my updated one for 2017). He said it was very very easy and well organized and the people he talked to were very nice. I didn't attend the interview with him but I think you can bring people with you, they just have to stay in a waiting area or something (I'd double check that though, I think I remember reading that about the London embassy but can't remember where).
From what my husband told me you have nothing to worry about it with it! Let me know if you have any other questions, good luck!!
Awesome stuff!

Hi, It has been a while, people.
So my wife had her interview last Wednesday and they approved her (Thank God), and since Friday CEAC is showing "issued". I don't know why they haven't mailed the passport back yet, does anyone know how it works, and how long it will take for my wife to receive her passport? Could they have already mailed, but the status is not showing on ais.usvisa-info (it still shows appointment status there)?
Please note that my wife lives in the middle of Paris, about 20 minutes away from the consulate by train, when she told them that she would rather pick it up, they refused, and they said we only do deliveries. Freaking sucks!!! We are hoping that she receives her passport by Wednesday because tickets are super cheap for Thursday from Paris.
Congrats to you and your wife!! Go make life together!
do you know the questions asked?

Hello Everyone , i just concluded my interview and I'm pleased to inform you all that I was approved 💃💃. The whole process has been tiring, but I give all glory to God.
So I was at the embassy by 6am and an official was already separating IV applicants from Non IV applicants. We were asked to stand on a line, open the envelope containing the medicals, bring out your confirmation page of DS 260, your appointment letter and insert in your passport. We moved past there to the main hall were we submitted the shot mentioned documents along with a copy of your marriage certificate, police report and birth certificate. We were asked to go back to the line, we were later asked to come take our finger prints and await interview. Meanwhile don't fret if they don't call Your Number On time, numbers aren't called serially. So the interview went as follows
CO: Hello (Name)
Me: Hi Good morning
CO: Raise your hand (took an oath to say the truth and nothing but the truth)
CO: can u tell me about your husband, how old is he, what he does. (I answered)
CO: how long have you been married, how long did u date before u married him, why did u marry him (i answered all)
CO: what kind of car does he drive, what is his shoe size, his favorite tv shows, his hobby (answered all)
CO: how can u describe the relationship with your mother in law (that threw me off but I answered)
Then he said my visa has been approved, I was given a white paper along with some papers and told me my visa would be ready within some couple of days.
It's okay if u don't know the answer to some of the questions. Just be very confident. That was my experince at Lagos Consulate today. Feel free to ask any questions
CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Does ready mean that they’ve scheduled the interview?
It means the embassy is in possession of the documents and the date has been set.
-
A few days before my interview and I just check CEAC and see that my case was actually touched because the last date updated changed to today. I didn't get an email or anything so I am assuming that all might be well. Nervous.

That's true lol...but I don't want to go through the removal of conditions process...it seems worse than this process!! I'd rather just wait 2 more months & he gets the 10 year card & we're done. Plus I'll be there with him most of the summer so we're not apart. Hoping everything will be fine!
Thats better

Is it gonna look bad if I (beneficiary - non us citizen) quit my job 1-2 month before the expected interview date so that I can travel with my us citizen spouse in my home country before we move back to the US?
I know that it's written on their website that it's not recommend, but would I be looked at differently if I quit?
And by the way, we're using a joint sponsor for me, since my wife doesn't meet the requirements.
It wont look bad. Its just advised against because you dont know what the outcome willbe, but if you are sure u will be approved it shouldnt be a problem.

Hello! I received an email from NVC requesting one more financial document from our joint sponsor. However, the email said this:
“Do not send these documents to NVC. We will schedule your visa interview without reviewing these documents. Give all requested documents to the visa applicant, who will present them to a consular officer during the visa interview.”
Does this mean the case is complete???
Yep, congrats!

Today I had my interview visa in US Brazil Rio de Janeiro embassy and my visa was approved. Thanks God for everything in each moment in this very long and stressful process. I don't know but I didn't pay anything in the consulate about the green card process or to return my passport at my address.
Congratulations!! What did they ask??

Hi guys, I have a question, can you guys help?
I know NVC schedule interview appointment at the end of the month.
I just want to know at the end of Apr, will the schedule the appointment for May or for Jun?
It depends on how busy the embassy is. Check the spreadsheet

Yes I did. They confirmed that it’s a case complete and told me that they are waiting for an interview date.
Expect a date end of this month. Maybe it will be for June. If you are in the queue early u will get for May.
