I talked to an NVC representative today whom informed me that there is NO TIMELINE for interview dates at the US Consulates.  She told me that the embassies have a cap on how many candidates the NVC can schedule in a month, and that this number is unknown and undisclosed by the Consulates.  She also indicated that the NVC schedules Completed Cases in the order of date at their respective Consulates.  Considering this information, the faulty 30-60 day range listed on their website, and this silly "beginning and end of month" scheduling routine, they are representing that this process can take an unpredictable amount of time.

The letter I got said it can take up to 3 months to be scheduled.

  2. My husband filed his taxes late, he had requested an extension, he is self-employed. However, after filing his taxes, we used the tax return and transcript of that filing. IRS responded that there was something wrong with the filing and that they need to be adjusted. I already used that tax return for NVC. So my question is, if he adjusts the tax return, let's say the value is less than what it was before but over the poverty guideline non the less, whats your opinion on how the embassy will view this?

Should I take the adjusted copy or used the documents that they already have to not complicate things? Should we take the IRS letter with us to show that they requested the adjustment? Is it gonna be seen as fraudulent? I read this somewhere that fraudulent documents are grounds for dismissal.

    Please advise.

If you met through a legitimate IMB, I don't really think There is an issue. You have to check the appropriate box and provide appropriate documentation etc (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

i was asking about Facebook because I was told by a friend to be sure to print out the terms of services so the USCIS has less weight to throw around if they want to be not so nice!

i was told that they can request that you prove to them that the social media site that we met through (Facebook) is NOT an IMB even if they know it. You could still get an RFE for it...?

Maybe this is far-fetched, but it seems as though the case worker can ask for whatever they wish 🤷🏻‍♀️

And since it is literally 5 pages that I printed out, I just went ahead and attached it along with a letter saying that we met on Facebook and that Facebook is not an IMB. And I attached the Terms and the fundamental principles that states Facebook is free. Also I printed out the definition of IMB from the government docs site that gives the USCIS definition.

i could be a crazy over thinker.

    should I not have worried?

At what stage was this required?

I am at the interview stage now, I am trying to understand if this is for I130 or the NVC process.

  4. The Adam Walsh Act ("AWA") bars a US citizen convicted of a "specified offense" against a minor from petitioning for their relative's Lawful Permanent Residence ("LPR") status. These cases can be difficult to get approved and it is not uncommon for US Citizenship and Immigration Services ("USCIS") to issue a denial even when there is strong case. The question then becomes what is the next step and there are essentially four options: 1) give up, 2) refile, 3) appeal to the Board of Immigration Appeals ("BIA") and the District Director for USCIS, or 4) file a Federal Court Action.

I just checked it and saw that Jamaica interviews are usually scheduled between 2 - 3 weeks and its always in the following month. So I am looking at late March early April.

Hey everyone once you have your SD date are you guys calling at all to check on your status or waiting the 6 weeks? Only been a week for me. Thanks.

You can start calling after week 3. Its been taking 4 weeks so far, so you can even call at your 4 weeks mark.

Just atleast call to ensure they have received the files.

    Hi everybody!

I had my interview today in Lima, Peru. I was scheduled for 7:30 am, my husband and I arrived around 6:30am and lined up. There was a separate line for those applying for immigrant visas. Around 7 we were allowed into the building and asked to seat and wait for my name to be called out. After a quick wait we were called to a window where they asked for my police records, marriage certificate, birth certificate and original AOS. I was also asked about previous US visas, I showed my previous 2 passports containing the visas. Then, I was given a paper regarding domestic violence, had my fingerprints taken and we were asked to sit down and wait for the consul to call us. A few minutes later, the consul called my name and we were instructed to approach another window. The consul was very nice and kind. He asked my husband and I to raise our right hand and swear we were saying the truth, then he asked where and when we met and where we each went to college. Then he smiled and said you’re visa has been approved, he handed me a slip of paper and said it should take at most 2 weeks to be ready.

Hi there and congrats to everybody who got a case closed :).

Our package was delivered to the NVC on 5 Feb, but I am somewhat confused. On the website it still says that we have to submit the documents. We called and they said that they did receive them, but I just want to make sure that this is normal and the next change would be "At NVC"?

Thanks very much and fingers crossed for quick processing for everybody!
