I think you should obtain the birth certificate. They could ask for it because it’s really important as to how your spouse is a us citizen. My IO asked for my spouses bc and I also had her passport just Incase. And as for tax returns if you’re applying based on 3 year marriage to a us citizen you should have atleast 3 years of return transcripts. And if not I think you should have atleast a few years of tax return transcripts just Incase. You don’t wanna go to the interview and then they’ll ask for it and then have to submit them. Good luck

There has been no update yet on my USCIS online account yet, it still says "We scheduled your interview", an interview I attended almost a month ago.

 

Hopefully I will get a letter in the next day or so.

 

Do anyone know how long it takes to get the Oath letter posted online/mailed after the message above is sent?

I don’t know how long it takes but that update says they placed you in line for the oath ceremony, which means they could be waiting for more ppl etc., once your actual oath is set they will update you with “Oath ceremony notice was mailed”.

Got another update today:

Your oath ceremony was scheduled. So just now waiting for the notice in the mail. I don’t think you can chose location, because they already sent out the date/location of the oath ceremony already.

My interview is tomorrow, I'm so very excited. Lol. How old are you that they requested the SS letter? I will be 34 next month, so supposely exempt because when I came when I was 30 and so ineligible to register.

Yes that was me! Lol 

I just gave them an updated status of information letter because the one I had/took to the interview was from 2016. And Also a signed and dated statement from me explaining my failure to register. 

I was almost out of hope, but patience is needed in this journey and I hope my experience good and bad helps future vjers that there’s always hope! Now just the wait for the oath but atleast my case was approved 🤗

Update: 

Case status updated to “Oath ceremony will be scheduled”

Hopefully soon this is the last step!

Yes it is okay. There is even a sitting area with tv for children but make sure an adult is there watching them for you while your interview. Good luck

Selective service status of information an updated one, I had an old one from 2016. And a statement explaining my failure to register signed and dated.

It went well, I passed the test but I got a “decision cannot be made yet” and I got a n14 which is a request for additional documents but I dropped those off in person March 15, so now just waiting and praying for an approval.

I don’t know if this helps but I also took any proof of my marriage(kids birth certificates, bank statements, house deed etc.) and also two passport photos of me which the officer did ask for and take. 

Update: 

Went to the infopass today and asked them what is and where can I get this so called “advisory opinion” letter, and they told me it’s just the status of infortmation letter..... then why not just call it that. 

The officer was was very helpful told me I could and should submit the documents they requested (status of infortmation letter & statement signed and dated) today, so I did. And hopefully they get them and I get some sort of approval(I pray).

I will update you guys if anything new. 

Does anyone know if any post or thread that has any good news about a male failing to register for selective service and providing a status info letter/sworn statement, and actually was approved. 

I have no hope at this this point but wait to be denied. 😞

I guess, just make sure to not send originals just copies of whatever they requested and they’re should’ve been an address to send it to. It doesn’t hurt to ask just so they receive them and your application isn’t paused by anything.

You can call uscis main number and ask to speak to a tier 2 officer, they could help (rarely do) or you can make an info pass at your local office and ask them your questions and hope they clear it up for you.

What does is say on your n14? Mail to and then a specific address? Or bring to your next interview?

Also just keep re-reading the n14 form he gave me asking of the letter and it says to bring it to my next interview?? So I’m gonna wait for a reinterview ??? Any insight

Applied by mail October 2017 biometrics November in line quickly after that and interview was scheduled in Jan and interview was March.
