Absolutely!
I am not looking for work - im currently employed...but without a valid EAD I have nothing parallel to the visa so basically no ID as of now I did not make license as it wouldve expired with EAD itself.
U were right about ur licence, I made a driver license and until I get a new card to change it it’s useless. It states exp oct18

Take some classes / art or whatever thing that may help kill some time if you cannot work. THat is what I did back in Arizona last year before I got approved for work permit (first one) which literally took 7 months ++ including pauses from RFE. Submitted my renewal and yes the NOA1 from renewal application shows that there's extension for 180 days. Just show that letter and make a copy for your HR to keep. Gov shutdown shouldn't affect them as they charge us a lot of $$ for each application. They work with applicant's fees.
That’s a great advice as I will not make any change by going crazy over the situation.
to be honest I don’t know if it’s a nyc thing but HR don’t bother with people like us they just move on to the next I experienced discrimination for not been at least a green card holder many times

Exactly the same for me - first one came in 3 months, and renewal is now taking more than 6 months maybe its cos of the govt slowdown and shutdown? hope not!!
I hope not, I wish I knew that bc I would have went back to Europe few month if I knew and now I'm here again stuck without been able to travel or work better job and gets very boring and hard mentally. I'm wondering why we pay so much of processing fees how come it's ok to work to pay taxes like anyone else but yet be left in the complete dark

Mine was a few days over 3 months for the first one. I'm totally floored it has taken so long. It's a bummer - missed out on a trip at the end of December and looks like I will have to cancel a trip to Canada at the end of this month too. I even included that renewal barcode from the first one that said it would help them process, but I'm not sure if that even matters at this point!
ooh wow i'm sorry you had to go through all that, did they lost your card the first time? that's what happened for me.
yea that renewal code I don't think it makes any difference but hopefully it does.
i've noticed that your local office is Buffalo, few people got their interview from there seems like you gonna be giving us the good news very soon

I haven't received my new card yet - applied for renewal in August.
and I applied first week of July have been out of normal processing time for 10 days now, but seems like a lot of people are they told me they will recontact between 15 to 30 days.
I got my first EAD card 3 months after approval absolutely unbelievable

We applied for my husband's renewal and we received the NOA with 180 day extension but we never got the new EAD. It just so happened that we got our interview and finally the Green Card. He continued to work with the extension letter. We decided to wait for the Green Card if he ever wanted to apply for a new job.
Do you already have an interview scheduled at least?
that was my plan at first to keep working the same job until we get my green card, but at my work plan they are just abusing me I prefer to leave before I go insane, specially because I have no interview scheduled I pretty much have bad luck with that process

We had our interview a few days ago in NYC. Everything seemed to go well, we have a bunch of documents and photos (joint leases, bank accounts, tax returns, travel itineraries from a bunch of international trips we've taken together, and photos from throughout the last 5 years we've been together). The interviewer asked us a lot of different questions and it felt like everything went well, but she didn't say we were approved or anything. The officer was very friendly and me and my wife answered most of the questions right (there were things I was a little hazy on eg. when exactly we started dating as it was over 5 years ago), but the officer didn't seem to think it was a big deal. When we left, she gave us the sheet that says it's being held for review for up to 120 days.
I'm seeing the majority of people in this thread either got approved on the spot or received their approval notice/card production notice the following day and am getting a little concerned that something might be up. Has anyone who's gotten approved recently had to wait for a few days/weeks after their interview for approval? 😐
hey, did you get any update since your interview?

Hi,
We have the same field office ( I think). When I called the CS they said my case is within the timeline.
Anybody here from New York who got their interview schedule or updates other than EAD/AP Approval?
hi,
same didn't get an interview scheduled yet

Sorry for the late reply. I was on the phone with the immigration officers for the following two weeks. They made an administrative error and could not figure out why I had not received my card and everything looked fine. Then out of nowhere we got an email saying that I missed two fingerprinting appointments and that we have been put in the queue. Called the immigration officer and told them they need to expedite as I never got any letter and such a long wait. I was literally crying on the phone. Received my letter last week to go in for biometrics to process EAD and I485. Went for my fingerprinting yesterday. However, the wierd thing was they actually wanted to take a picture and fingerprint of only 1 finger. Talked to an immigration officer on spot and got told that it was really wierd for getting my EAD approved without fingerprinting and that It was so rare. He said I should be getting my EAD in less than three weeks now. I am assuming they didn’t do full fingerprinting because I am from Canada and Is a neighboring country. My I485 was placed on hold as well because of this.
wow I'm sorry to read that but finally you got an answer I hope you get it very quick

Our lawyer find out. We filed through the Immigration Advocacy Services in Astoria.
Way cheaper then any other immigration lawyer just to make sure we don't make mistakes filling out the forms... As I read in the threads there were a lot of people that had to re send the form several times because they had little mistakes here and there in the forms...
Of course they don't know the waiting time as the USCIS since 2016 had 4 times more applications to taking care of. I don't even know how long max. they can take for a case. (I mean the USCIS) Can they take more then a year?
I have no idea I had to wait 5 months for my ead ap card combo when other waited only 3 so you never know until it happens to you

Decided to try my luck and call them today. They transferred me to an L2 officer right away but was given an estimated wait time of 77 mins. When the officer called he was very apologetic. He mentioned I should have gotten my card two week s after approval. He said everything looks clear on their side and there is nothing on the system that shows why it's being delayed. He expedited the SR and said we will hear back with an update in the next 5 days.
did u get any update?

So did you open SR? I opened mine on Monday and it's still not been assigned to an officer.
I had my lawyer calling them couple times and today she told me that I should get it within 2 weeks hopefully it happens

So I happened to call them today out of curiosity. They said the same thing again that it can take up to 60 days for the card to go in production and it's on a case to case basis. Mentioned my status will change on day 60 but if it does not, to open SR which will take 30 days. No expedite service available because it's already approved. What day are you on?
I stopped counting since I missed the job, but I know that it will be 60 days after approval without any move on December 13th

Well the two times I called my card was still not sent for production so it's definitely not lost. Really hoping I get it this week otherwise Monday morning I will be opening SR
hey same here even after I called many times still nothing planned to be sent in production please keep us posted about what happens after you call on monday

Did you try asking the officer as to why it's not being planned to be sent for production when it's already approved?
It makes me wonder if they have certain quotas for Eads every few months or so before they go for production.
I asked her and she said she has no other info at the moment about the SR it's not true you can raise one now I raised one on November 14th and will keep raising SRs until something moves every 10 days

Can you try to expedite it since you have a job offer?
I'm trying to reach the senator's office to have them asking about that on my behalf and I'm waiting for HR to right down an actual letter

this call was a waist of time the only info I got is that my EAD card was not lost since it was never sent to production and is not planned to be sent right now. I just missed a great opportunity for a job
