  1. My husband and I drove from Canada on May 4, 2018. We paid the green card fee on April 12th. We have still not received the physical card in the mail.

We've submitted several inquiry request after the 120 days passed. Then had to wait 90 days after that to submit another. USCIS agents have told us over the phone that our case was basically lost. They show in their system that everything was good and approved but don't know why my husband card just didn't get produced. They said that our case had to be placed under investigation because it might be lost at the Texas center. The last agent we spoke with last week advised to call again after 60 days to see the status. She also mentioned that our case was not the only one with this issue....ANYONE ELSE IN THE SAME BOAT?

Our attorney recommended to file for an extension so my husband can keep working and traveling....but every time we go online the only to Texas locations say there are no open appointment times within 14 days! Any advise on how the heck we can schedule and appointment for an extension? His stamp on his passport expires May 4, 2019.

Anyone know how to get an appointment for an extension successfully? Or any advise on how to help the Texas center FIND our case so the green card can be printed and mailed??

    Thank you!

Same issue here been waiting since Poe June, now wondering if theres a backlog

I called them again. Turns out that my husband's card hasn't even been produced. Plus they don't know why. The agent even said that it might have been due to a human error. I have to wait 90 more days to be able to request further information. That being said...she basically told me that they messed up and they need to figure out what the heck they are doing with our file....

  3. Hi all!

I'm just wondering if anyone has had any luck in getting an update on the mailing status of their green cards. We submitted an inquiry since we are already way past the 120 day mark from entry and payment, but they simply sent us a letter saying that they needed to do further research? I have tried calling but they never seem to be able to help. I'm planning on calling again today hopefully I get lucky with a nice agent this time.

Our entry date was 05/04/2018 and payment was made on 04/20/2018.

Thank you all for your input!

    Hi,

I've just called NVC and was told they will start scheduling at the end of the month... i think the earliest date would be May... How about you? Any date for the interview?

That just means that neither one of us is getting an interview in April....this is just so depressing. I called last Friday and a lady told me that they get a list of available times in Montreal once a month. Then they schedule the interviews...

I was truly hoping for April.

I'm not in a good place with this waiting. I don't understand why this process had taken a year and half of absolutely just waiting. We got married in 2016 and I still have to come home to an empty house. I don't wish this torture upon anyone.

Thank you for letting me know. You saved me a disappointing phone call to the NVC

I am waiting for Montreal's interview too... BTW, can I move to US 6 months after visas is issued?  I have a project that is going to start soon.  It would be irresponsible for me to leave once it has started and I cannot tell them my plan yet...

I can understand you wanting to wait a few months after your visa is issued. Truthfully, I don't know. I don't know if it would be frowned upon because waiting might make it seem that you don't actually want to move, but in the other hand...we can't sell our property or leave our jobs until we have the Visa in hand. Selling your assets could take a few months...so it might make sense that you are allowed to hold-off on actually moving.
Do you have an attorney you could ask? I would definitely consult that with an attorney.

    Good Luck!

Thanks so much TX&BC. Seems you’re also from BC, so am I. This info gives me an idea as to when shall I expect to get an interview date more or less.... please include my stats too:

    Scan Date: 2/26/18

    CC: 3/2/18

    Interview Date: ?????

I don't understand what's taking so long to have an interview scheduled at Montreal.

My husband is from BC and I'm from Texas.

I'm that information helped you a bit. At the very least it might give you some dates to look forward to. I do have to admit that it's nice to know that we aren't the only ones here waiting on Montreal!!

I might call them again today...

Does anyone from Canada know how long does it take to get an interview date at Montreal Consulate after getting CC? Thanks in advance for your information........ 👍😊

I've used the spreadsheet, but unfortunately there aren't many Canadian cases to follow...
What's worse is that people don't update their timeline or they update it wrong so it throws the averages off...I use the full spreadsheet but below is a snip it of the just the "recent" files.
I've called and called and called and NVC still hasn't scheduled our interview.

Are you planning on importing a Canadian vehicle? Did you already check that it's compliant and get a letter from the manufacturer?

We are not, but thank you.

We are going to sell the vehicle once we actually get approved.

we will probably end up doing our medical out there right before our interview, it looks like that is the most common route. when did you guys receive your USCIS confirmation?

We would do the same except I don't have many days of PTO at my work. I want to be in Montreal at the time my husband has his interview, so we are planning on just being there for the interview. We are saving some days off for the actual move since we want to drive down from BC to Texas.

My timeline is below. We unfortunately haven't been as lucky as other Canadians on here. We are filed IR-1/CR-1 Spouse visa, but it took forever to get our NOA1 and after that our case was "pending" forever at NVC. Apparently, their system wouldn't assign a case number to our case it had to manually be done by a supervisor. After those hiccups everything seems to be running smoothly for us now. I'm just crossing my fingers we get scheduled for an interview in the next few days. We've been waiting for far too long.

I don't think Surrey will work for us, can they still do interviews out there?

No. The only consulate in Canada is in Montreal, and that's were all interviews take place.

I meant that we are going to use the Surrey doctor to do the medical exam.

  11. Hi @Wipf D

It depends on how you want to go about the medical exam. My husband and I are going to schedule it as soon as we get our interview notice in Surrey since it's closest to us. You cannot get the medical exam done before your interview is scheduled. **Make sure you do NOT open the envelope that they give you.**

The link below has the approved list of doctors that can do the medical exam:

    http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Canada&cty=Montreal

Another Visa Journey member did wait until she was at Montreal to do her medical exam. @acidrain

I've link her on here because she's been so helpful.
"From what I have read the Surrey office is more lenient with their exam than Montreal. Have you checked out the website? I know they have all their contact info on there too. The thing that royally sucks with the Montreal medical is you need at least 4 business days to get the results"

I hope this helps you a bit.

We are still "patiently" waiting for our interview to be scheduled....

    Good Luck!

I had / have a similar issue, my NOA2 was 08/24/2017 however the NVC did not receive the approved I-130 form as my lawyer messed up the paperwork (he filed for Adjustment of status) and that means the approved petition just sits at the USCIS office, I had to file an I-824 form to move the approved petition to the NVC on 11/02/2017 and I am still waiting for the NVC to contact me.

Have you checked thoroughly what your I-797 says?

Hi! Thanks for your reply. We finally got through NVC....I honestly called so often that I was on a first name basis with the agents...(I happened to speak with the same agent 3 times!).

Long story short...they apparently had processed our case using the "new system" and for some reason it was not being assigned a case number. After constant phone calls they transfer my file to a supervisor and sure enough...that following day we received an email (and so did our attorney) that our case was received and it had a case number.

My best suggestion is to keep calling them.

Oh ok, now I get what happened better. My NOA2 was for end of October, it didn't change to being sent to the NVC until the end of November, and then the NVC said they got it on Dec 6th but didn't give us the fee invoices (for AOS and the online IV form) by email until  about Dec. 12. So I understand how that can be annoying. It therefore effectively was 1.5 months from NOA2 to the next time I could push the case along. when i called them before dec. 6th, the NVC said they didn't have a record of our case. by dec. 6th the nvc did have a record because it was finally to them.

Okay, I can see that happening. It's just awful that even after the USCIS stage things like this keep happening. Thank you for giving me some peace of mind.

Mine is Dec 1 too, and hearing that they must have lost our file. I'm distressed. And we had started callinf the NVC only 1 week after, and has been asked to wait till 6 weeks. So, your calling them wouldn't have changed anything. don't regret.

I don't know what should we do now. Just pray that they receive all of ours file soon.

I'm sorry you're in the same position. I hope they find our files soon....

I'll keep praying too. Best of luck to you both!!

This sounds scary. I hope your lawyer didn't scam you. Did you use the lawyer for case processing at the USCIS stage, like before it got to the NVC stage? Are your NOA1 and 2 directly from the US gov or did the lawyer pass those documents to you? You could call the USCIS and see if they have a record of your case too. Once I put the wrong code in, maybe you just said the wrong case code and they thought it didn't exist. Good luck!

Thanks for your reply! I don’t have any doubts on the attorneys. I received both NOAs from USCIS directly and the attorney also got a copy. Everything that was sent was also sent to me.

It’s my fault for expecting the attorneys to keep doing a good job...I should have called two weeks after the NOA2.

I still haven’t heard anything yet. The lawyers did send an inquiry email and cc’d me on it.

I read on other threads that this has happened before but they all seem to have to wait awhile to hear back....it’s just not fair. But his entire process hasn’t been, so I shouldn’t be so surprised. 😭

  16. I'm wondering if anyone has come across an issue w/ NVC? We are using an attorney, and they told me not to call NVC because they were going to do that for us. Our NOA2 was dated 12/08/2017. My patience ran out yesterday and I called NVC only to find out that they don't have any record of our case. I immediately contacted our attorney and they have now sent an email to nvcresearch@state.gov.

My concern now is if my case is...lost...(God forbid that!). Has anyone had this issue? What should we expect? I'm a wreck here. Our case took FOREVER to get approved and now NVC doesn't have it. :(

Thanks again for your input on this.

  17. Hope everyone is doing well.

New to this forum...but not new to VJ.

What’s the fastest way and correct way to get a copy of my birth certificate in English?

I was born in México and became a US citizen through naturalization.

Our attorney recommends we get the long form for both of our birth certificates but they must be in English or translated.

How can I get mine in English?

My husband’s certificate in in English since he’s from Canada so that’s not an issue.

Has anyone had any experience with that??

    Thanks in advance!

  19. We got APPROVED!!!
    PD 02/02/2017.
Our NOA2 is dated 12/08/2017. I checked the stamp on the letter and it wasn't sent out until 12/11/17. I had called USCIS in between those times but they told me just to sit tight. I contacted them again on 12/13/17 and all they could tell me was that a "decision notice" was sent out on 12/12/17.

    I couldn't be happier!

  20. Not having a good day today. I've been so patient. I'm past being infuriated and there's nothing we can do. There was no change in their processing date...still shows "January 14th" with the update of Dec 1st. There's no way that's true. They're just preventing people to be able to file a case inquiry. It's exhausting. I feel true hatred towards this entire process.

I'm going to stay off of these forums for a few days. It's just having the opposite effect on me. Best of luck to everyone.
