You wait for 8-11 weeks after they scan your documents.  Then you will get either a "case complete" or a checklist email...........Good Luck..

    Congrats!

After you receive the welcome letter you will have to do the following:

    1. Complete form DS-261: Choice of agent - fill in your personal info so that you can receive info about your case from the NVC.
    2. Pay AOS&IV fees
    3. Complete form DS-260
    4. Send AOS and IV documents https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents.html
    5. Wait 9-11 weeks, after the NVC is done reviewing your documents they will reach out to you if they need anything else or will send you an e-mail saying they have received all the requested documentation and that you are in line waiting for an interview date.
    6. Receive your interview letter
    7. Schedule a medical examination with an embassy-appointed doctor
    8. Register your passport for courier pick-up or home delivery
    9. Gather all the original documents, tax info, AOS form, proof of relationship to take to the interview
    10. Attend the interview

    Good luck!

My husband had drug offences in the past as well, and even received a felony for it, back when he was young (and quite stupid hehe) in college, around 10 years ago. I think it was just a state felony, so maybe it's not as bad, but still. It worried me a bit, but we were able to still get approved for K1, are now married and both living in the US, and I now have my EAD/AP card. Things have gone smoothly so far. Not sure if it was because it happened a long time ago and my husband has been on his best behavior since then, or if it was because it was just a state felony, or if it just simply doesn't matter at all. But based on my experience, I don't think you should worry.

make sure the immigrant knows about every crime the usc has done since they will be asked about them during the interview. this is done to make sure the immigrant is aware of the crimes the usc has done since the usc may try to hide them and it would be dangerous to move to a foreign country where the person you depend on is involved in criminal activity you were not aware of.
