It is unusual that you are still waiting for approval from VSC - most of them have already been approved. But if you've had 2 RFEs then that might put them a bit behind. You could definitely file a service request to see what they say. If I were you, I would try to remain calm but start following up and trying to figure out what's going on.

If they're still not sure, after 2 RFEs, you may be in line for an interview.

Good luck, I hope you hear soon!

Actually, if they sent a SECOND RFE they truly want to resolve it without interview. So there's hope you'll get the decision soon without the interview. Unless it's been more than a month after they received your second response to RFE.

Read it, sounds horryfing, but i am not sure he did the right thing to inform people to avoid marriage based 3 year N400 because as much as he was trying to be helpful or trying to warn us which I appreciate. All it does is cause panic. Every case is different. We can always find individual horror stories, but they don't necessarily apply to us because everyone's different. The fact that they are cousins might have triggered the red flag, it is just unusual, so maybe that is one of the reasons, but i guess my point is we should not look too deep into these kinds of horror stories, all it does is get us stressed out and make us become unnecesarily paranoid. However, you just have to be prepared for all kinds of different situations and always get ready and be very prepared for the possibility of joint interview. I would say this particular story is probably very rare and does not happen very often. Who knows? Maybe the couple had enemies who just hated them so much that they falsely reported them. I would just stay prepared, alert, know about your spouse, be prepared, and I think no matter how nasty the interview is, it will mostly likely going to be ok.

This is of course something extra ordinary, don't freak out.

I wasn't aware of this until the other day but you can have a Stokes interview for Naturalization.   I read it about on visa journey recently. Not sure how that happens reflecting upon it it, surely you can't be separated as surely Naturalisation is a lone interview?

I think you mean when both I-751 and N-400 were filed concurrently. That's when stoke interviews for naturalization happen.

Woooow! That's absolutely ridiculous. That is why I am not travelling. Just in case. At no our fault, I still do not want to jeopardize all I've gone through since the date of our initial I-485 filing 4.5 years ago.

That doesn't surprise me , they should look at the latest top story on visa journey about someone being denied to board the plane due to the extension letter and then tell us not to moan!   Just shaking my head, it's just not good enough nor acceptable!  I have to travel in Nov or Dec and the last thing I need is worrying if I can get back to my husband!  I guess the only time we will ever be accepted is if we are lucky enough to apply for citizenship.

Really? Where can we read about that story please?

    Thanks for letting us know!!

I looked several times today out of curiosity regarding CSC really.  Wow, they really aren't moving are they and VSC is  taking a whole year. The only consolation without looking would be their processing times as of August 31st, I am assuming without looking. They are always a month or so behind when they say as off, however they still use the ones on their website, rather than lets say as of the end of Sept, which would be last month.

You can count as of 08/31/17 for 10/13/17 because none of July filers after July 19th have been approved as of now. They bs-ing us around.

Why did you say that CSC filers will start hearing updates in March-April?

The USCIS website says that as of Aug 31, 2017, they were working on cases filed on July 19th, 2016. Now it's in mid Oct, I think that they have stared working on cases filed in Sept 2019, or they are much close to work on it. Just my opinion.

Not really, it's their trick. They tell us July 19th, 2016 as of August 31st, 2017 because they count on you think the way you think. That is as if now, mid of October, they moved forward. But if you go to August filers thread you'll see that none of August CSC filers haven't been approved. So their July 19th, 2016 is actually as of mid of October. Hence, CSC September filers will get adjudicated in February 2018 provided that USCIS maintain the same pace: 2 weeks worth per month.

Depending on the fraud level, field offices have quotas on interviews. The guidelines are prescribed by the Adjudicator's Field Manual. Look halfway through the page, but actual percentages are determined by the ADDE of each field office so I don't believe they are publicly available.

For more info, see my extensive post about my approval process theory below:

Thank you, the info seems to be interesting. For example, I didn't know that the computer randomly picks up cases for the interview under certain circumstances. That is if an officer has doubts about some case and it's determined that 30% of doubtful cases should be interviewed, the machine will pull out this 30% of cases randomly. That is no human factor in determining who should get interviewed. Humans only assign the level of fraud A, B or C.

They had one night to prepare, but i guess if you know your spouse well and the marriage is bona fide , it does not matter how many hours they try to find discrepancies, you will be ok, just have to stay calm and be truthful, I understand it could be nerve wrecking though. Anyway, I have heard 751 interviews are rare, but they do happen, and that doesn't necessarily mean they are doubting you or it has to be a stoke interview. Everyone's situation is different.

It's just that I suffer from panic attacks. I don't need a reason to get into panic. Just remembering our first stoke interview makes  me already nervous. My wife also has some condition that may be caused by a stress situation. So we hope that we will not have to go through this again.

Yes, here is the twist. My friend(VSC June filer, 2016) told me that he made an info pass appointment just to see what was going on with his pending 751 because before that, he had already had an info pass appointment  regarding his pending 751 and he was told that his case had been transferred to the filed office in Albany New York, so he made the next appointment and went to his field office in Albany. He also had submitted a RFE  for his 751 prior to his going to Albany, and when he got to the office. The officer couldn't care less about his RFE(He didn't even bother to look at the RFE package) and just flat out asked him "Can you and your wife come back tomorrow for the 751 interview?" which is unheard of because you usually have to wait for months to get an interview letter for any application, so it just goes to tell you they can do whatever they want, they have the absolute discretion and they can bypass a lot of things for you if the officer who is handling your case is in the mood or something. So he got his "verbal" interview request right at the office, and of course he accepted it after waiting for 15 months, but it turned out to be a stoke interview where his and his wife were interviewed separately. So they were grilled an hour and the passed the interview and they were 751 approved right on the spot at that filed office, and before all that happened, he had already applied for 400. That is what I was saying this could be an exception or an anomaly, but obviously it does happen when someone gets a 751 approval while 400 is still pending. Ob by the way, the officer who did the 751 interview and approved him is the director of that filed office.

I think they were playing by ear. They definitely had solid doubts and since your friend happened to show up they decided to quickly resolve it to drop this case off their carriage. Good that it had happy end. I would definitely freak out had I been interviewed by the director and literally without reviewing few years of our marriage life together.

I read that too but I-751 is not part of it, majorities were for AOS and work authorization. Let's see for the next couple months if they will include applicants for I-751, I saw many approved I-751 divorced waiver and non divorce waiver got their approval without interview. I can say each case is different and the adjudication of the I-751 is based on the evidences that you sent and the IO that handles your application, some IO were nice where some are not and very meticulous.

    exactly, I'd say it's a life raffle for 75%

where did you get this info?

Which exactly? About interview being mandatory with the waiver option? It's USCIS internal guidelines and actually very well-known fact. About conducting more interviews? It was an official USCIS press release 2 weeks ago and it was in all the news. It directly named some categories of immigrants (not I-751) but it also was vaguely said that this practice will increasingly be applied to other categories.

    Hi all,

For ROC, is interview mandatory or optional? What are the chances of interview?

In general it is saying that only 10 percent of them they called for interview?

It's mandatory by default with the waiver option and this option is broadly used due to lack of USCIS resources. With the new administration all can change. Even though people do not report interviews on VJ (only few), they are planning to conduct more interviews which was officially announced. At least more RFE already is taking place.

I will break the ice for today :)

Received an RFE letter today. Please add my details to the timeline:

    Filled date: JULY 13th 2016

    NOA RECEIPT : JULY 18TH 2016

    BIOMETRICS: 10/18/2016

RFE received: 10/2/2017 (letter dated 09/25/2017)

I am suspecting my RFE is due to the fact that we had a joint account but we did not had joint transaction in there and the lease documents did not had both of our names in there. Interestingly they have listed summary of some of the documents I had submitted earlier (including the financial institution name) so this is not entirely generic letter :). Anyone wondering, We jointly own a house now so I am planning to resubmit with mortgage and deed documents and also add our life insurance policies listing our spouse as beneficiary and of course a long letter justifying our application.

OMG, I just don't get it what else they need if you already had submitted the mortgage documents!!! Who would've put their name on mortgage be it the fraud?!! It's beyond common sense. I think they just wanted to check if you are still together after such a long wait and I noticed people started reporting RFE more often now.

Just what to share this with you, I talked to a friend of mine in New York who is not on VJ or Trackit, he just got his 751 approved last month, but he got a stoke interview date right after he went in for his info pass appointment at his field office that had his application which is rare and unusual, he had also applied for 400 after he got the approval right after he passed the stoke interview with his wife , so he is the first case i have heard so far who got a 751 approval upon a pending 400, but he is a VSC filer though, so his story may be an anomaly and may not mean anything to CSC adjudication. We shall see when CSC starts to adjudicate 751 August filers. Good luck.

Right after that do you mean on the same day with Infopass?
