So today was the combo interview ROC/N400.      We parked in the Marquette Plaza, it was extremely full. We found one vacant spot which we swiftly took. Went up to 7th floor and checked in. While waiting in lobby we went through our civics test flashcards one more time. His number was called, we didnt hear it, the IO ended up coming out and collecting him. He was a tall african american with a warm smile. So he took him in and I stayed in the waiting room so everything else I am about to say is from what my hubby told me.      He asked him "Is your wife here too?" he said "yes shes in the waiting room".     They then sat down and went through the application. Then did the civics questions. He got the first 6 right so then they stopped there since he passed already. He then recited a sentence in english and wrote a sentence in english. He misspelled a word by accident but the IO said that was alright.     Then they went onto the I-751. He asked what date did you get married? And what dates did you come and visit prior to K1 fiance visa? My husband is really bad with remembering dates and was honest and said he didnt remember but that the dates were in the binder he brought in. So he looked them up and told him. The IO didnt seem bothered that he didnt know them off the top of his head. Asked when we met and how we met. He said we met on a online message board. The IO asked what was the name of it. But he didnt remember and (I dont remember either to be honest, the message board was shut down shortly after we met).     The IO was satisfied with everything and said I am recommending you for approval for I-751 and N400. He also said he couldnt properly approve the N400 until 3 days from now because he has to approve the I-751 in the system first. He then handed him two papers one saying he had been reccomended for approval for I-751 and second for N400 saying A decision cannot be made at this time.  Surprisingly enough he never called me back to interview me. I was expecting it.  So that was our day.

I was a combo interview! Same-sex couple here

My interview was scheduled at 2:10pm. I got to the USCIS center at 1:20. It was too early and my husband and I waited for it to be 1:40 for us to go in.

We went through security fairly quickly. I was glad we waited because I noticed at check-in that the guy looked at my interview time and this little cheat sheet with appointment times and the allowable times those can check in at. He gave me back my appointment letter and told us to wait. It was pretty full but there was one side that was mostly empty, so we waited there.

The officer did the 751 first. My IO was a woman. She had us sit down then we did an oath, to tell the truth. She asked for our names, address, and shot me a look and asked me for my husband's DOB, which I answered pretty quickly.

Then I almost had a panic attack because she asked me for stuff I didn't bring. The tax transcript for 2017 (I'd brought 2016 thinking it was 2017). She asked about a joint bank account, and we told her about Venmo. She asked for our lease, but when we showed her she said it needed to be signed. We explained it was e-signed. But luckily, that didn't hinder us at all. She asked us questions about which one of cooks, how we met, where have we traveled together. Things were more relaxed after that. She even asked if went to Tulum when we went to Cancun.

She approved my removal of conditions. She said she needed to get it signed off and then she would do the citizenship interview. She signaled us to the waiting room. After about 20 minutes she called us back. She asked me questions about my application. Then went to the interview.

Who does a senator represent? All the people in a state Why did the colonists declare independence? For being taxed without representation  What's the capital of the US? Washington DC  What is the Capital of Texas? Austin  What Ocean is on the east coast? Atlantic  What's one right the first amendment gives you? Freedom of speech

I got them right. She asked to read, "What do we pay the government?"
    I wrote, “We pay taxes"

She told me I was approved and that I'd either have my oath ceremony on March 13 or April 17. I was driving home and I got the update that my 751 was approved and a card was ordered. The IO told me I may or may not get it.

    That was it!

Wow... I can't believe it finally happened.  A few days ago, I attended my oath ceremony and became a naturalized US citizen.  I was one out of 3700 others that became citizens with me that day.

UPDATE!  We had our combo interview last week.

I went with my husband and 10 month old but they stayed in the waiting room.  The officer was super friendly.  We did the language (oral and written) test and he asked me 6 questions.  I had them all correct so he didn't ask anymore.

He said he couldn't approve me on the spot because of my ROC/Naturalization case.  But towards the end of the interview he did tell me that I was in line for the oath ceremony.  We just got our text/email notification that I'm in line and just awaiting the letter with the official date.

Hoping it all goes quickly from here on out for everyone else!

Hey guys, I had just my combo interview yesterday and wanted to share with you my experience!

We applied for the ROC in February 2017 (like y'all) and I applied for the N-400 in April 2018.

The officer couldn’t make a decision on the spot because of my removal of conditions. Apparently they need to approve that first to be able to approve the N-400.

I went with my wife and he asked my wife to come into the room with me. He said that he would start with the ROC interview, see how it goes and go from there so first he went through the ROC asking the same type of questions that we got asked when we first applied for my GC.

We asked about the proposal, who went to the wedding, if we had pictures to show, what kind of evidence we had to support our marriage, where in the house do we live, if the room has a bathroom in it, if we had kids, how many pets we have, their names, asked me if I knew my wife’s phone number, her date of birth and so on.

After asking about our lives together he asked my wife to go wait outside so he could start the N-400 interview so she did. On her way out, he asked her if we drove together and what kind of cars we have.
When he came back he said that our case looked good and that he was happy with it.

I passed all the tests and after signing some papers, I got a paper saying that they couldn’t make a decision at the moment but that I should get something in the mail soon and that they will have to stop the card production step and, after that, get me an oath date.

Right before I left he asked me if we drove together and what kind of car we have. I, of course, answered correctly so my info matched what my wife had said outside.

      - On my way back home from the interview, around 3pm, I got an update saying that I was in line for oath ceremony.

      - Around 9pm I got another update saying “Card in Production” for the ROC

      - 8am today I got another update saying that they scheduled my oath ceremony. Now I’m just waiting for the oath ceremony letter to pop up online.

All that happened in 17 hours which is awesome! Super excited here, haha!

Forgot to update: I got approved and received my GC in the mail on 09/20.

Renewed an expired passport from my home country in NYC and making a trip out for the first time on a fresh passport with no stamps or visas. Just the 10yr GC.
All the best for those still in limbo. Feel like the home stretch.

    Hello,

My case has been approved and I just got my green card. Phew! We didn't hear back for more than a month after submitting RFE, and that was really stressful because my 18-month extension was coming up. Does it seem like there are a lot more RFEs this time around?

Thank you so much for the support of this forum. And all the best to everyone!

Approval letter today. So proud and relieved. I applied with a divorce waiver and didn’t even need to interview. So anyone else out there who is getting divorced or divorced you can still be approved without interview.
