I just got Packet 4 yesterday, and I'm waiting to be able to schedule an interview, but no dates are open. Do you remember how long it took for interview dates to open up? I keep refreshing the site every few hours. This is the first post I've been able to find on here where people discuss interview dates not being available. Any insight is so helpfiul!

Hey! Yeah, it took about a week for them to open up again. It seems kind of random, and I checked a few times a day. It shouldn't take too long before dates show up I think.

Hello. We just got the emails from NVC. Our case is in transit. I've read Montreal is a little hard to get interview dates for at the moment. Is that true?

It took a bit for days to open up to be able to book, they were May 16-22. It might show no dates available, if so just check frequently. They will open them up again.

I booked my interview but i have not received packet 3 and 4 , did you got packet 3 and 4?

Yes I had. I couldn't have booked my interview without them. Not sure how you have the interview but not the info before it?

    Guys I’m still doing it!

Its just is kind of time to reduce the number because they are touching dates randomly a little amount of approvals. But I will do scans accordingly to see the movement itself.

YOU GOT IT! Yay! I didn't know you got your NOA2! Congrats! (L)

Hi! Are there any Canadians in here? I'm a Sept filer , just received my Noa2 and am curious what the wait time looked like for interviews at the Montreal Consulate?

Hello! I booked my interview this week for May 22, there were a few dates open though (16, 18, 22). So once your stuff gets to Montreal, there's a bit of email back and forth stuff (Packet 3, checklist going back to them with DS-160 confirmation) and they will eventually tell you you can go ahead and book your interview. I think it was a few weeks? Days are starting to meld together I fear.

Glad to hear interview dates have opened up!!!  Unfortunately we have ro wait :( Does anyone knoe if packet 3 gets sent by email or canada post?

I got it through email, so likely that.

I'm still waiting for NOA2 (Oct filer) but can you tell me about the checklist for packet 3 in MTL? Do we actually have to upload / email the actual documents from the checklist or do we just have to upload the checklist saying we have the documents? Does that make sense?

Makes total sense! Just the checklist portion and your DS-160 confirmation page alongside your passport scan. I still technically am needing my police check, but there's a place here in Edmonton that does it same day, so I'm good for that :)

    Yay!! Another Canadian!!

how long did you have to wait between your case reaching MTL and getting packet 3 & 4 and being able to schedule an interview? They’ve had my case for over two weeks now and I’ve heard nothing :-(

It seemed to take them a couple of weeks for me too, and the original notification that I was to start preparing the checklist and DS-160 was sent by email to my fiance, the petitioner. So probably any time for you!

Hi everyone. I just want to say congratulations to everyone that has been approved recently. I have been so stressed out about my own frustrating situation that I failed to congratulate you all. So I’m sorry for that. Thank you also for supporting me through this. I am still going through the NOA2 process but knowing that there are so many friendly, loving people on this thread makes it a little easier for me. It’s nice that you haven’t abandoned us stragglers either.

I have a question that’s been asked a bazillion times no doubt. What’s everyone’s experience in regards to how long it takes to receive a hard copy of the RFE in the post? I know of the general time frame that USCIS gives but obviously we are all aware that they don’t even know what time frame that is.

No answer for you, but just wanted to say that I still come and check for your posts. Not gone, just quiet really. There's a ton of us waiting to be able to cheer for you two <3

You've had your NOA2 since 2/14 and are still waiting for interview dates in MTL?

Yup! Only got the notice to be able to book them today though. There's a small amount of time between NOA2 and booking the interview.

    Hey 👋

Do anyone have knowledge about the following:-

    1. We received our NVC number— what are

the next steps we need to do??

    2. Do we have to submit DS160 online??—

3.On 29 march 2018 i tracked my case by mtl number and it says in transit——but yesterday we submitted DS160 online and now it says NO STATUS??

    4. How do we know that we can schedule an interview and go for our medical??

5.what should we do now 🧐

    thanks 🙏🏻

    1. Once you have the NVC you wait till Montreal contacts you.

    2. You CAN do the DS-160 with your NVC case number, it doesn't speed anything up, but doesn't hurt to do it. DS-160 Link

    3. Uh... No idea?

    4. Montreal will let you know after the step you're currently waiting on.

    5. Wait. The Universal Standard for the K-1 Visa. :(

Edited to add: You can start getting together the documents you'll need for your interview: Packet 3 Info

We just got told to wait by Montreal after sending in our Packet 3 (without an initial email) :( but yeah, you're definitely not crazy! I check like every freaking day lmao

Oh yes, I will be refreshing a few times a day from now on. Good luck! <3

I haven't seen any interview dates open up, and be warned, if you book an appointment before you receive your Packet 4, they may cancel it.

Ok so I'm not crazy. Finally got my go ahead to book the interview and was confused that there were no dates available. I hope they open up some... soon? o.O

Our status changed from "In Transit" to "Ready" on March 20th so it's been a week, which isn't that long in the grande scheme but feels like forever when you see people from other countries who are abel to book interviews as soon as their status changes to "Ready".

I'm lucky that I live in between Toronto and Montreal so I can just drive to medical/interview. I can't imagine how frustrated I would be if I had to book a flight on top of everything else!

These links might help clear up any issues about what paperwork is required though. Its what I've been basing everything of off :)

I think that's around when ours changed to Ready, and I haven't heard anything either. I'm hoping soon. I have everything ready to go but the police check, and there's a place here in Edmonton that I can do it same day so not too panicked.

Hello Canadian friends (and others I may have missed in this)! Anyone doing the medical appointment yet? We just scheduled ours for April 25th, but I just feel like there's something we're missing..

Nope! I haven't technically heard from Montreal yet, just waiting on them now. I have pretty much everything ready to go when they do.

You have the interview date and the medical date, I assume you already did the DS-160 and have all the paperwork ready to bring to the Embassy? Not sure what you'd be missing?

    Hello everyone,

just an update from a fellow August filer. We received our February 13th NOA2 approval in the mail and since then everything has been email. The Montreal Consulate seems to use the electronic processing which I feel has been faster at least in our situation. Our case number was provided by the NVC in less than two weeks. When signing up for our interview we were provided 2 dates to choose from. Both Wednesdays by the way. We now have our interview scheduled for the end of April and are super excited.

The help and and support we gained from reading this website has been invaluable.

    Thanks everyone.

Another August Canadian flier here! I swear we should make a club or something, haha. I have about the same NOA2 and was seeing people getting their interview already and was confused, I hadn't heard anything yet.

Montreal also received our case on March 20th and I submitted DS160, we still haven't received Packet 3 from Montreal Consulate yet though so we're just waiting and waiting and waiting :(

I did the same thing, I had read about people never receiving their Packet 3's so I got paranoid and sent in the DS160 barcode, passport & checklist. However they emailed me back two days later saying :

"Please be advised that your fiancé (e) visa application is being processed in our office, and upon completion, we will contact you accordingly. In the meantime, carefully note that you are not required to send your Packet 3 documents, and also not eligible to book an appointment online until you receive further instructions. We hope this information is helpful to you and thank you for your understanding."

    So frustrating!

Yes! I had to get them to change my address, so they did that and put that little blurb at the bottom of their response today. So.. I'm assuming I just wait. I already did my DS-160 as well, so just sitting here now!

So an officer has been assigned our case (again) to get to the bottom of the mission RFE. My partners congressman is also getting involved now.

Oh good luck you guys! I can't wait for you to have movement!

viewed your timeline, its incorrect. you have case number given today and in transit today. that doesn't happen. so NVC must have assigned a case number much earlier as it takes at least a week to go from at nvc to transit.

I talked to them today hoping I could get the address changed, no luck. But I did manage to ask when my case number was given, and it was the 12th. So only two days for mine to leave for Montreal.

Just going by the information I have. We got our case notification today, I checked it, and it says in transit. The Montreal embassy is electronic, so it very well could be on it's way there.

is there another place to sign up besides USCIS case tracker for that?  mine has not even been updated to NOA2 there yet.

I don't know. We had signed up using the form when we filed. The G-1145 form.

I promise that unless I quote someone directly, my statements are generalized.

There is always a frenzy about getting NVC case information. People get stressed out and upset when the person on the phone can't tell them what they want to hear.

They're people, too. Also, NVC is a lot better to deal with than USCIS. Just keep the faith, keep calm, do whatever you have to do... Just please guys. Breathe.

Yeah, I only called like every 3 or 4 days I think. Didn't call often as (because I'm visiting the US right now) it cost me $7 per day on my phone plan to use roaming. Haha. I didn't even call USCIS either, I was just waiting and randomly heard. I think for me, calling constantly makes me more anxious. And I assumed it was generalized but I'm odd. :D

I know it's a cruddy process, but it's true, the best advice is to keep calm. It helps a LOT.

Congrats! Where did your fiance get the notification? My fiancee has been calling all morning to no avail.

    12 minutes ago, Jaquelly said:

    GUYS.

It is better to call after 6pm NVC time. At that time they will have processed the mail. Calling in the morning might seem efficient, but you're not doing yourself favors. :)

    6 minutes ago, Joselio said:

how did you get the notification???

We had signed up for email/text updates, so we got an email about it.

And for me, since I don't need the case number, I just need to change my address, I'm not worried about them checking the mail :)

If I’m being honest, I have tried to stay away from the forum lately because it just makes me sad. Of course I am ridiculously happy for everyone receiving their NOA2 (including everyone that filed after me... heck, if somebody that filed a week ago somehow recieved their NOA2, I’d be happy for them), it just frustrates me a little.

That's what I'd done. I'd avoided the forums for most of the NOA2 wait. I just kept getting more and more depressed so I stopped coming. I'm sure yours will have movement soon! <3
