There are plenty of people who have had this issue. I am one of them.  Have you been told by NVC that you are in AP?

Our case was at NVC for the best part of two months, but that was in 2008-2009. It seems, that if you have a read back on this thread, times have come down a lot from then.  You have been there about 2 weeks at this stage, is that correct?  No one can tell you how long it will take, and NVC won't tell you very much if anything at all.

There isn't a process that you can follow. Some cases are just set aside for extra scrutiny, and it takes as long as it takes. We used to call them every week and asked to speak to a Supervisor.  We were not sent a letter to say we were out of AP, we found that out by calling them.

In the meantime, the best advice I can give you is to get everything else you will need ready. That way when your case is sent on to your country, you will be ready to go.

    Hi,

Yes they told us over the phone that we are under AP

So annoying waited more than 7 month to get NOA2 first now wait at NVC .

Oh, ok, your process looks a little different. I only got my NVC Case # by calling them about 2 weeks after NOA2, they just so happened to have our case already entered in the system so they gave me the number (the one that starts with BMB).

@RoamingTheNet  I wonder if they are wanting your BMBxxxx case number, or maybe the invoice number on the letter from the NVC to the petitioner saying that the case will be forwarded. (Have not received one these letters myself so I'm not even sure.) I also read somewhere on here that someone used their USCIS case number to sign up for an interview? Anyway, I think your fiance can still proceed without having received something from the Mumbai Consulate as long as you have some identifying numbers for your case. Also, you can see Mumbai Packet 4 online here:

i do not think so we can proceed without getting our case recieved at mumbai consulate.still i will confirm tommorow.does your case says ready when you track it through ceac?

Has the US petitioner received a letter from the NVC with an invoice number?

Maybe @SatinderSabiee has been through this recently?

Our K1 appears to be at Mumbai as of today, but I (petitioner) still haven't received any letter from NVC. Most recent document I received from government for this process was NOA2.

we have not received anything after noa2.yes we were given invoice id with case number at nvc.today we got an email to fill up ds261 instead of ds160.our case is still stuck at nvc under adminstrative process .interview & medical is scheduled seems like have to cancel it if our case do not make to the mumbai consulate this week..btw how did you come to know about your case?

Ok! I didn't want to give an answer without knowing the exact question as that could have been misleading to others.

So: @Naes and I figured out that invoice numbers are not relevant to K1s. Those are for other visa's where visa fees are paid to NVC. We pay our visa fees directly to the Embassy/Consulate, which does not require an invoice number. NVC seems to give them out regardless.

thanks for confirming it.They gave me invoice id with case number  on 24 jan and today i got email which says i should be filling up ds261 which is not meant for k1 ..So what i have come to know now tht they are considering my case as i130.which is why i have been in adminstrative process since 10 days at nvc.what you guys says?

SatinderSabiee, I see from your timeline that you booked the interview. Did you get a notification from the Mumbai Consulate to proceed with booking the interview?

Update so I called NVC last Monday and e-mailed them the weekend when I orginally made the post which they call me last Monday. Apparently my case was selected for administrative processing. They said it was completely normal and no additional information needed. It was frustrating to me as we don't have anything that is normally considered red flags we are one year apart, both of us have no kids and never married before, we meet for the 1st time in person, and I have flown to seen him 10 times over our two year relationship with plane ticket proofs.

Today just check the status and we are ready for the interview. I'm so happy.

HEY HOW LONG IT TOOK FOR YOUR CASE TO BE READY AFTER YOUR RECEIVED THE CASE NUMBER FROM NVC

Haven't been able to update lately or review others' updates, but just wanted to share - things seem to be moving SUPER fast now once you reach the NVC stage. NVC received our info on January 17th, and my fiancé received his packet already, scheduled his medical for the 15th, and his interview has been scheduled for the 22nd. I'm flying to Sweden on the 19th for a couple of weeks and going to Stockholm with him when he goes for the interview. It's suddenly happening so fast, but it's a pleasantry for sure.

Best of luck to everyone else still waiting and taking it step by step. We're almost to the home stretch, you guys!!!

did he receive packet through mail or email?

Hi guys, I saw many posts on the new NVC program.

The new program is called the pivit program and is completely electronic. They have to train their employees to handle it and that’s why NVC is taking pretty much full 2 weeks to assign case numbers.

our case number was assigned exactly 1 week and 5 days after NVC recieved.

i see mostly people are getting recieved and getting assigned case number at nvc same day but they seems like started taking time to send petitions to consulates..As case's assigned through new system are not being sent to consulates since 5-6 days.i do not see even single case nvc left or ready it says.
