The child is inside the USA?
No. Overseas.

Yes. Stepchild was 13 when stepchild/stepparent relationship was created. Does this mean that the US citizen stepparent should file Forms I-30 and I-485 at the same time?

Hi all!
I have a quick question: Can a US citizen petition (for a green card ) their stepchild/stepchildren who are under 21 years old?
Thanks!

Happy Friday!
Hello Vj family,I had my GC interview last week 10.21.20 in Atlanta. After the interview, the USCIS officer said she’ll make a decision in 2-3 days. BUT we haven’t received any news! It’s been 9 days. Is it normal? How do I know that I am approved/rejected? Thanks!

I have an interview on 3/26 for AOS in one of the field offices in AL. USCIS sent me a notification On 3/18 through myUSCIS that the interview was cancelled. I checked today (3/21) and I got a new notification that my interview was scheduled! I have to wait for the mail and take things from there. Stay safe everyone!

Thank you! I guess we have to file a separate I-130 for my son being my spouse as the petitioner.
-
My k1 visa was issued on January 17, 2019. My spouse applied for my I-130 AOS and I included my son’s name in the petition.
Yes. His biological father permits him to immigrate to the USA.
So we have to apply for a CR2 category? Does that make the process faster compared to F2A?

Hi VJ members!
I moved to the US in May 2019 under a K1 visa. I am planning to bring my 13-year-old son after I receive my green card (sometime this March!). I have included him in the I 129F petition and I-130. Do we apply for a K2 or K4 for him to come to the US?
Thanks

Hi!
I'm also in the same situation. I moved to the US using K1 and my green card interview is coming up this March. I'm planning to bring my son to the US after I receive my green card. How did you file for K2 visa for your wife's son? What form/s did you submit to file? Thanks!

I thought I saw someone said Bangkok had switched to electronic submission of documents recently but this wasn't the case back in June. So long as you have you police cert, I-134, single certificate, and DS-160 you should be good to go. Turn around time is generally pretty quick. My wife got her appointment letter within a couple of days of submitting her packet 3 and her interview was 8 days after she got the notice. Her interview was a total of 12 days after she sent packet 3 so she had to travel to Bangkok for her medical within a week of sending packet 3. This is faster than what is typical but be prepared to move quickly if needed.
Thanks a lot! I just submitted my Packet 3 yesterday! Keeping my fingers crossed.

I am not an expert on K-1 visas....I defer to others....but you might want to read this guide if you haven't done so...good luck.
Thanks!

Yes. The beneficiary completes the DS-160.
I have it printed out. So that means I can go ahead and send in the documents for my Interview? Is that right?

Those do not apply to non-immigrant visas such as the K-1.
Oh okay.
So DS 160 is good?

Why would you need a DS-260 or DS-261?
For my interview?
Do we accomplish these forms after or before the interview?

Hi All!
So, I have finally paid for the visa fee for my K1 application. I have printed out my DS 160, BUT I am confused with DS 260 and DS 261. Do I have to print the forms before I send in the Packet 3 documents? I tried to log in but ceac is asking for an NVC receipt number, how to get this?

Thank you BJ and Christine!
@Greenbaum NVC told my fiancee that they havent forwarded our case to Thai US embassy and it usually takes 2-4 weeks. Should we start our packet 3 now or wait until Thai US embassy has our case?

Greetings all. I thought I'd start the new NOA2 to NVC thread for September 2018. Please join and ask questions and share your experience.
Hi there!
So i was the one who asked you for advice when our case was stuck in USCIS. My fiancee followed your suggestions and spoke to a tier 2. Today we called NVC and they gave us our case number and invoice number. My question is: What’s next? Do we have to apply for DS-160 in the NVC website or we just have to wait for my interview schedule at the overseas US embassy? Many thanks to your answers!!

Call both USCIS and NVC. This has happened before. It get ironed out in the end. There is a fix.
https://www.uscis.gov/about-us/contact-us/national-customer-service-center
1 (800) 375-5283 8:00 am
This is for USCIS
Option 1:
Call USCIS. Do not press anything. Do not choose a language. If someone who picked up the phone cannot answer your question, ask them to transfer you to TIER 2.
Option 2:
Dial 1-866-953-7684
Option 3:
Call 1-800-375-5283
Press 1 to continue to English
Press 2 for case status
Press 1 if you know your receipt number
Press your receipt number 922(WAC) then your numeric receipt number
Option 4:
Dial 1-800-375-5283 then press 1,2,2,4,2,1 then enter receipt number then press 1.
Thanks so much. Will do this asap. The time difference is quiet a challenge as I am based in Bangkok, Thailand. I appreciate your help!

Best of luck! Your case is definitely an outlier as it should have long reached NVC by now. Something is definitely wrong here and I hope they fix it soon.
Yes! I need lots of it 😀 Thank you for your suggestion.

Probably a pointless question but have you tried to speak to a tier 2 at USCIS yet to confirm it has left yet?
We have called USCIS, sent them email too. I am not sure what you meant by Tier 2?

Hello VJ members,
We received our NOA 2 on May 24 2018 from USCIS and we were told that our case is being forwarded to NVC. We called NVC 30 days after 25 June 2018, but they haven’t received our application from USCIS. We kept calling until our NOA2 expired on September 19, 2018. Now they extended our NOA 2 until January 19, 2019.
We would like to ask if any of you guys experienced similar delays? My fiance and I are thinking that USCIS may have lost our packet or they’re just being slow. Any thoughts on this?
thanks!
