We sent his tax returns from last year and all of his pay stubs. He started working in the middle of 2017 so the 2017 return only had 6 months of pay but hes been working there for over 12 months now and has gotten multiple raises.

Hello! I received an RFE a month and a half ago and out attorney has been working on a response and will hopefully send it out next week. The problem is the RFE states that my husband doesn’t make enough to sponsor me (just me and him and our household) but he does. He makes almost $26,000 a year and the guidelines ask for $20,500. We are unable to get a joint sponsor as theres no one willing to help us out with that. We met up with our attourney today and she explained that she can’t guarantee that she can convince them that he makes enough, which he does... he makes $6,000 over what they’re asking for. We’re really worried, is there anything we can do about that?

Thank you everybody for the quick responses it calmed us down a lot. I will not respond to the letter as it actually seems like they’re advertising their services that way, I’m definitely not filing for bankruptcy for a $500 debt.

Thank you so much for your reply. It was an actual law office/bankruptcy agency saying that is hould contact them within 21 days and that the best thing to do i file for bankruptcy which sounds ridiculous to me, as the only reason i have still yet to pay ot off I because I don’t have a job... it is no huge amount either its not more than $500.

Me and my husband started the process of my AOS last month and yesterday I received a letter from a old credit card account and I am being sued by the debt collectors. Will this affect my application in any way I’m very worried.

Thank you so much we will get that fixed ASAP. I'm just glad we checked it thoroughly before filing.

I just got a certified copy of me and my husbands marriage certificate and my mothers maiden name is completely wrong. My husband will be filing the I-130 petition soon and I'll need to know if that would be an issue. Thanks in advance.

Some states do not have marriage certificates; instead, the marriage licence, once the marriage has taken place and the officiant has signed the license indicating this, becomes the marriage certificate after being endorsed and signed by the county clerk or deputy.
Texas is one such state.
We got married at a courthouse and the judge who performed the ceremony turned them in himself, leaving us with a copy with a gold seal. Should I go to the county clerk again to get that certified?

Yes, the licence (top 3/4 of the page) becomes a certificate once you've had your marriage ceremony and the bottom is filled in and signed. You also need to file it to get a certified copy to use for official purposes (such as immigration).
Thank you so much! Also by file do you mean turn in the other two copies to the county clerk? Will I be able to file the I-130 with the certificate I have now?

Me and my husband got married after living together for a almost year. The thing is in the state we live in (Michigan) the marriage certificate is on the same page as the license, I was also told so by my friend. I just need a second opinion from someone who's actually been in the situation.
