  1. Hello! I received an RFE a month and a half ago and out attorney has been working on a response and will hopefully send it out next week. The problem is the RFE states that my husband doesn’t make enough to sponsor me (just me and him and our household) but he does. He makes almost $26,000 a year and the guidelines ask for $20,500. We are unable to get a joint sponsor as theres no one willing to help us out with that. We met up with our attourney today and she explained that she can’t guarantee that she can convince them that he makes enough, which he does... he makes $6,000 over what they’re asking for. We’re really worried, is there anything we can do about that?

Some states do not have marriage certificates; instead, the marriage licence, once the marriage has taken place and the officiant has signed the license indicating this, becomes the marriage certificate after being endorsed and signed by the county clerk or deputy.

    Texas is one such state.

We got married at a courthouse and the judge who performed the ceremony turned them in himself, leaving us with a copy with a gold seal. Should I go to the county clerk again to get that certified?

Yes, the licence (top 3/4 of the page) becomes a certificate once you've had your marriage ceremony and the bottom is filled in and signed. You also need to file it to get a certified copy to use for official purposes (such as immigration).

Thank you so much! Also by file do you mean turn in the other two copies to the county clerk? Will I be able to file the I-130 with the certificate I have now?
