i see. yeah, it hasnt been THAT long yet in your case. im just saying this would probably be more productive than requesting senator's assistance.
me and my wife both have pretty unusual names, so hopefully we'll be alright :[

rebeccajo, i was just wondering, why dont you SUE?
i've heard of a lot of people on our (russian) immigration forums, having similar problems with name check, but they were ALL quickly (in a matter of weeks) resolved once they filed a lawsuit against them. seems like thats what most people do in this situation these days.
you can find examples on how to do this on the web.
i've also heard from the very same sources (russian forums) that contacting the senators does absolutely ZERO help.

ok, thanks.
im 100% positive i sent all the documents required, and it would sure suck to get RFE for something i've already sent in, since it took me FOREVER to put the package together. well, at least its moving forward now.
-
the NOAs say "prepare for biometrics", you will get another letter with time and date and place to come to get them done.
-
I was happy to discover NOAs this morning in my mail for all 3 forms that I've sent.
Does it mean that they have all that's needed or I can still get RFE?
-
.....even though i'm sending AOS papers to chicago.
alright, thanks:]
now everything seems to be ready to put in a package and mailed out.

thanks everyone!
another question:
22 in i-130.
What should I write? I currently live in LA, but I will obviously submit all of this to chicago lockbox. What should I write? Should I write that I will apply for AOS in my local california USCIS office? Or what? I'm confused.

YAY
So, I finally got all the documents I need to AOS.
I'm a F-1 student, married to USC, and AOSing.
I have a couple of questions:
1) I understand that I need to send everything (i-130, i-485, EAD) to chicago lockbox, is that correct? The forms are confusing me since they're saying to file to the local uscis office.
2) Do I need to print and include form pages that are instructions? i.e there are no fillable fields on them.
Thanks

Should I include my wife's tax returns and stuff, if we're using a joint sponsor to qualify? (and we do have his tax returns and w2s)?
-
yeah, I just googled and found this on USCIS website:
USCIS no longer routinely requires submission of original documents or "certified copies." Instead, ordinary legible photocopies of such documents (including naturalization certificates and alien registration cards) will be acceptable for initial filing and approval of petitions and applications.
http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...00045f3d6a1RCRD
it confused me because the GUIDE on this website says CERTIFIED COPY. they should update it!

I'm reading the checklist for AOS and I'm pretty confused:
It says include the marriage certificate in both I-130 and I-485. I only have 1 marriage certificate.
Does it mean that I have to order one more marriage certificate and wait forever for it like I did with this one, or I can just get a notarized copy of this one anywhere?

I am currently under F-1.

So here's the deal: I'm gonna be sending the papers for AOS soon.
Is filling for EAD required? I mean, I dont plan to work any time soon, so I would rather not spend almost 200$ for nothing. Did anyone fill for AOS without EAD and can share the experience?
Thanks.

no, the form says INCLUDE TAX RETURNS FOR THE MOST RECENT YEAR.
it doesnt say "include tax returns for 3 years."
am i not seeing something ?
-
a quick question:
i got a joint sponsor to sign the I-864, he has included recent pay stubs, and w2s for a year, however he doesnt know how much did he make in the other 2 of the 3 recent years. is it neccesary to fill those feilds?
thanks.

well, i know i can use only USCIS approved doctors, but there are a BUNCH in LA area, i was hoping someone would know a doctor that charges the least.
-
thanks! anyone can recommend a cheap place to do the medical exam in the LA area?
-
so could someone clarify this for me: when sending initial documents for AOS, i-130 and stuff, should i do a medical exam before that and send it with all the papers, or bring it to the interview?
im AOSing from f-1 visa, married to a US citizen.
the reason im asking is because i dont want to spend the money on the medical RIGHT NOW.
-
already in the US on F-1, married to USC.

Can I (the intending immigrant) use my assets in my home country (an apartment) to qualify, if my wife doesnt work? Thanks.
-
Yeah, thanks for the reply. Anyone had real expirience with filling papers with a sponsor like mine?
-
I'm married to a USC, applying for AOS. My wife doesnt make enough money to be the sponsor, but our friend makes more than 16 500$ yearly. USCIS site says, send in the most recent W-2 tax returns for the year. The problem is, he only made about 14 000$ last year. Now however, he is making a lot more, enough money to qualify. I called USCIS like 3 times, and all the people I've talked to, told me that as long as I provide his tax info and attach proof of how much money does he make, I should be fine. But I am still not sure. Is what USCIS told me by phone, correct? Thanks.
