I have a question does a new baby or pregnancy help to get a Visa or could it be a good reason for a expedite? Has anyone experienced anything like this or does anyone know anything about it? Any feed back would be greatly appreciated! & Happy holidays! :)

Hey I was pregnant  during the consular process. We got a checklist and that would’ve delayed my husbands interview by 4 months. I sent an email to the embassy for an expedite  and they approved it. In the email i mentioned that if the process would take 11 weeks after I send them what they asked for in the checklist my husband miss the delivery of our baby.

Thanks a lot for the response! I got the one from the RPO a day after my lawyer already sent out the wrong one :(

How long after you sent the right one did you get a CC?

It is supposed to take another 11 weeks or whatever the current processing time is.

Thinking about this PCC is giving me a headache! Has anyone on here sent in another one, other than the one from the regional passport office and can offer some help? Do you get a checklist or are they kind enough to give you a CC and let you take it to the interview?

We sent in the one from the police office and I know that's not the right one :(

Any help would be great! Thanks

Yes we made this terrible mistake of sending a PCC from the police station instead of the RPO and we got a checklist to send in the one from the RPO. Getting one from the RPO was such a difficult process. Even thinking about it makes me cry.

    hi

We are in a similar situation. Did you find out that do we need to uodate NVC or not?

I switched jobs while our case was at NVC. I contacted NVC and they told me to complete a new AOS and send it to the interview with my husband. I did that and I sent the offer letter and paystubs from my new job. We had no issues.

  5. Technically the consulate will tell you that they will let you know when to schedule the interview. However after my case got expedited I went ahead and scheduled our interview and the consulate said that its not valid because I wasn't given notification to schedule it and I shouldn't have.  Other people who had their cases expedited told me to just have my husband go on to the interview and he'll be fine. We did exactly that and everything worked out fine.

If you need an earlier date trying reaching out to the consulate and see if they have one available. Our interview was one month out after our expedite request was approved.

There are so many different types of anxieties. Using that as an excuse is just not a good reason for expedites. What about job, weight, financial, health anxieties, etc. People go through all sorts of issues in life. If an expedite is given for every anxiety, then everyone will get that expedite approved. It's just not feasible.

I can make the argument that if you are having anxiety because your partner is not there, then you are probably not fit or prepared to be a mother. There will be many more anxieties after the birth. What will be your excuses then?

Don't take it too far my friend. You are thinking too much! The woman is pregnant and wants to give birth in the United States with her husband around. She isn't asking for too much. If NVC expedites it well and good if not she will deal with it. You are taking it way to seriously.

Were you the beneficiary or the USC?

Also, I would think that it depends on who is reviewing the expedite request.

If everyone claims anxiety due to giving birth without partner there and then gets an expedite, then it's going to set a precedent and everyone will use that claim, whether valid or not. It's just going to create an unfair situation and I don't think that NVC will want that situation.

The best solution is for both USCIS and NVC to find a more efficient way to speed up the process for everyone.

I am the USC. Giving birth without your spouse is a reason for anxiety no matter what situation and whether your request gets approved or not.

  8. Hey @elfinkel I just want to share my experience with you regarding my pregnancy and my expedite request. Our scan date was March 3rd, after 11 weeks we received a checklist requesting some additional documents, that put us in a tizzy because my due date is October 12th and since NVC takes 11 weeks to review documents and then another month or more to schedule an interview it would've meant that I would most likely be giving birth without my husband too. Despite the fact that people on this forum and everywhere else including lawyers were telling me that pregnancy is not a reason for an expedite I went ahead and sent an email and in that I stated that due to the checklist my husband would miss the birth of our first child and during the pregnancy I am needing a lot of support from him. Along with the request I attached a doctors note that only stated my due date and nothing else. To my surprise my request got approved and was send directly to the consulate and our interview appointment was scheduled in a week. So with your situation since they already approved the request I would suggest calling NVC again or writing to them and asking them for an expeditious interview and let them know that you are in Peru right now and it would be easier if your husband can travel back with you. There are no guarantees but its worth a try!

    Hi

Is there any specific document we need to carry to the local PSK to show the PCC is for US immigration?

You'll need your passport, your adhaar card and probably a copy of a letter from NVC or USCIS that confirms that you there is a petitioned filed for you. Taking your marriage certificate wouldn't hurt either.

Police Report is centralized in India,

You need to get your PCC from Passport Office & they will help you in this regard.

The report generated for you will be centralized, meaning its covering your record on a complete country, India & not for any particular district or state.

However if you have lived in multiple places for six months or more you need to get clearance from both. Though you apply for it at the PSK the police has to gather data from all the locations you have lived at. I am speaking from experience. :D

CEAC still says "Action required: Submit requested documents", but we have been informed via email by both the NVC and the Embassy that the case is moving to the Embassy. This was only yesterday though, so it might take a week or two for the documents to get to the Embassy according to NVC. Once the documents get here, we will ask to have an interview scheduled.

It will take a few days till the case gets transferred from NVC to the embassy. Once it is transferred CEAC will say ready. At that point you can contact the embassy for an appointment.

We requested an expedite, and NVC forwarded the request to the local US Embassy. The US embassy agreed (we emailed the US embassy separately as well), and now NVC is forwarding our documents to the local US Embassy which will be handling our case going forward. I'm not sure what that means, as we don't have a case complete yet (we submitted a checklist document end of July). I hope this makes things move faster because we lost a lot of time due to the checklist.

@JBMG Not sure how this fits into the spreadsheet!

You would have to get in touch with the embassy to schedule your appointment. Bring all the checklist documents with you to the appointment. What does your CEAC status say?

Police clearance certificate along with passport making takes a whole day. But if you want only the PCC, you can get it in the lesser time. You can apply for this certificate at Police Station as well. Online application facility is also there. For more information, click this link:…..

Just a day to get a new passport and PCC? You sure about that ?

@goobies, when you emailed the expedite did they send you a confirmation email? I sent it to nvcexpedite@state.gov Saturday, but havent heard back or received confirmation that they even got the request.

Give it a day or two before you receive a confirmation that your request for an expedite was received.

Thanks so much! We called at 1 and they allowed us to pick any date we wanted, so we decided to give ourselves some time to prepare everything and go for medical. We chose the first week of September!!!! Now it is like crunch time is finally here, after all these months. We are so grateful.

    So happy for you!

    KaurN,

Thanks so much for your input. We were planning on doing what you said first thing this morning, and then guess whaaaaaaaa???? They emailed us and told us to go ahead and schedule our interview! So now we are going to call at 1pm and see if there is a way to schedule it sooner than the ones on the website. The earliest is the middle of September!

Thank you so much for the advice, and we appreciate you and everyone else who gives assistance here on VJ. Without this community, we couldn't have made it this far. Be blessed.

That is great @goobies! I hope you get an earlier interview date. My husbands interview was exactly a month away from the day we scheduled it.

If there is no checklist then its possible to be back by then?

The chances of you making it here by Christmas are highly unlikely though not impossible. If you submit your documents next week and if NVC does take up to 11 weeks to review your 11 weeks will be completed mid November. And then hopefully it doesn't take too long for your embassy to schedule your appointment.
