Did anyone else have issues booking the interview? I find everything so contradictory...in the case status check it says Ready and i'm now able to book the interview but then it says the NVC books it for me?!

We tried paying the fee and booking the interview anyway and it says no appointments available check back in a few days. UGH!

AND we tried to book the medical in Montreal and they told us we couldnt book anything until we scheduled our interview.

for k1, we sent in our packet 3 list by email as soon as our status changed to ready and the consulate emailed us back saying we were ready to book our interview. there were available dates. we did have to do it ourselves

Thru more VJ searches.....many say if one Or whom ever does it, is fluent in both languages u can translate it urself and add this statement http://www.visajourney.com/content/translations   The consulate staff prob know enough French that its not an issue.  As well there will be local hires (Canadians from Montreal) that can easily verify the BC.

Thanks for researching that! I can definitely translate it myself and will fill out & sign the statement.

This is just my two cents but you are rolling the dice because both are needed in order to pass the medical. I completed my medical a couple a weeks ago in Montreal and it was $40 for the tetanus shot and $25 for the flu shot. It's up to you whether the $65 is worth saving but there is a possibility you will be given AP until you pass your medical exam. Once your in AP it can take weeks to sort out your case. Either you have the vaccines or you don't. I don't think the consulate would take someone's word on an eligibility requirement. If you are against vaccines altogether there is a waiver. You have to pay a fee to file the form and there is a chance they won't approve it based on moral/religious reasons. If you cannot get vaccines due to health issues you have to get a waiver filled out by a doctor citing why. More information on vaccine waivers can be found here: https://www.uscis.gov/policymanual/HTML/PolicyManual-Volume9-PartC-Chapter3.html

Thanks for your advice, I did end up going back to Medisys to get the vaccines.
My interview is in 2 days and I am now wondering if I need to get my Québec birth certificate translated?? It's very simple and obvious what means what and I figured that the consulate is IN Montreal... anyone from Québec here who have submitted their documents??

  5. New question for those who have gone through with medical and interview in Montreal:

I had my medical exam today and refused the flu shot & tetanus vaccine. I can get them for free at my local clinic so I will do that. My question is; I dont really want to get the flu shot; I wont even be travelling to the US during the flu season! The nurse told me that they require it based on when your medical exam is scheduled. Has anyone had pending vaccines at the time of their interview? Ive taken an appointment for the tetanus one but it will be after my interview. Wondering id they'll hold my visa (if approved, of course) because of it?

    Thanks!

    CONGRATS!

Just a few questions. Did you submit packet 3 after they messaged you to send it or did you send it before hand when you got the NVC number?

How long did you wait between packet 3 being submitted and getting packet 4?

I decided to submit Packet 3 as soon as i saw the status change to "ready" (this was a month after getting an NVC number) on the CEAC website and got an email from the Consulate that very same afternoon saying I can now schedule an interview, medical exam, what to bring, etc. I guess there was no Packet 4 in the end.

Hmm not during the DS-160 that's for sure, i'm not sure really, definitely not P3 cause I already emailed my P3 last Friday (no P4 response yet). Mayyyyybeee when we get P4 and can go online to setup the interview, I think their site might allow the payment of the fee but i'm not completely sure really. Worst case is we just pay it at the embassy. But not DS-160 and not P3 thats for sure.

When was the "last updated" date indicated on your CEAC? I was just looking at your timeline and it left the NVC on Jan 17th and just changed to ready today? Wowww that seems so long. Ours left Jan 24th and changed to ready Feb 2nd.

Packet 3 comes via mail (sometimes), but you are better off emailing Packet 3 right away when it says READY on the CEAC site and hope they respond ASAP with Packet 4. But it can take a while. Give it a few days and if you don't hear from them, email Packet 3 again.

Packet 3 states you cannot book an interview until you receive Packet 4. All interviews booked before receiving Packet 4 will be cancelled. You can't pay the Visa fee yet because there is no place to do that until (maybe) the interview-booking stage or when you actually go to the interview. All communication with Montreal is done via email so Packet 4 will come via an email response to your Packet 3 email.

Yes, we waited a whole month for the status to change!
Now have an interview for February 28 :)
    Thanks for your help!

I would call the Consulate to ask is it OK to send them because you already have your number. I have read on this website that some people send Packet 3 ahead of time and they have no problem.

Thank you for your replies :)
Unfortunately the Consulate is currently not taking phone calls about these matters... Ive emailed them but they gave a standardized response of course :P

    I will wait!

I spent some time today researching this very question, because I was surprised to find out the same thing when I filled out my DS160.

Apparently, when we get Packet 4, there should be links in the body of the message to the website which will process payment, set up the courier service and allow us to make the interview appointment.  Apparently we do have the choice to pay in cash (USD) at the embassy on the day of the interview, or to pay by credit card through the website.

Initially, I planned to fill out Packet 3 and send it ahead of getting my fiance's docs but I decided not to... just in case they get lost or delayed. (Knock wood they get here okay). The minute I get the docs though I'll be sending Packet 3 off to the embassy.

According to what I found out, once we send off our Packet 3 info, we should get Packet 4 back from the embassy in very short order. Like, within a day or less.

Getting close now! Soon this long season of torture will be over.  :)

PS: Would you kindly consider filling out your timeline? The timelines here serve to aggregate data on the site, which greatly helps us all understand what's going on. Thanks! :)

I also just saw my status change but have not received a letter from the Consulate. Are you saying to send P3 checklist and pay the fee regardless??

    Thanks!

  10. Hi all!

The NVC expedited our approved I-129f application to the US consulate in Montreal a few days ago and emailed me (the applicant) to say that the consulate would get in touch with me soon. I went ahead and contacted the consulate and told them, the operator gave me a web address where  I could schedule an interview. Now im nervous because i havent actually got word back from the consulate but I want to go ahead and schedule my interview. I have a Case ID and ive filled out the 160 online visa application form and have a confirmation number from them.

Do you think I can go ahead and schedule the interview??

    Thank you!
