That's weird! My guess is a USCIS employee accidentally changed your cases, but the changes were removed. Did you get any text or e-mail alert on Jan 5th?

No, I didn't get anything. But it made me get my hopes up because I remember reading a VJ member saying that her case was "last updated" early Jan (without an actual change of status) and got approved a few days later. A few days later are almost a month for me now ... hahah

  2. Hi! Do you know if a recent "last update" (01/05) actually means something? I sent everything on 11/15, received on 11/17, NOA1 11/22. The status for my EAD/AP has not changed since November but when I log in, my cases say "last updated 01/05". I have not heard anything since the biometrics, so I was wondering whether or not it means something. Is it a positive sign?

We haven't gotten anything as far as an RFI and our Case still says the last update was 11/29 is anyone else's still stuck on that far back of an update??? We called because my husbands  biometrics was 12/18 but they didn't even put that on the online update. The lady on the phone said to just watch the mail the online updates aren't always accurate. I just feel stuck in limbo.  I'm so happy everyone else's cases are moving along

I don't think the biometrics appointment reflects in the updates. As for the updates, she is right, sometimes cases move forward but cases are not updated online. For my K1 visa, we received NOA2 by mail and when I checked online a few weeks later, it still said "case received".

Thank you so much, this is extremely helpful! Was the interview pretty consistant with the reviews posted here?

Yes, you go to a first counter were an agent takes your documents/pictures and fingerprints, then you go to another counter were you have the actual interview. I had to swear to tell the truth, then the agent asked me 3-4 basic questions. In total I spent no more than 30 minutes at the embassy.

I'm hoping that someone here can help me go through the process as smoothly as possible. I received an NOA2 with a date of September 19th in the mail yesterday. I was told by some people here I could call the NVC this week to try to retrieve a case number. Apparently for some countries its possible to begin filling out the DS-160, scheduling the doctors appointment, and interview once the case # is received (before receiving information from the embassy). But I'm not sure if this would be okay to do with the French Embassy. Could someone advise me who has already gone through this part of the process so I can know how to proceed? I apologize for being completely lost!

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,

    Congrats !

I had my interview last week in Paris. Our NOA2 is August 14th and we received it by mail on August 25th (Friday). We called NVC the following Tuesday and the women on the phone said that NVC received our case on the 25th, and she gave me our case number (NB: call right when it opens, otherwise you will have to wait on the phone for a long time before you can speak with someone). The case tracker then said that our case left the NVC on the 30th and was received at the embassy on the 5th. From there I booked the medical, appointment as you just need the NVC case number. And the envelope that the doctor gives you is good for 6 months. So even if you don't have you interview date yet, you can do it. On the 8th my fiance (US petitioner) received an email from the US embassy in Pars saying that our case was ready for interview at the embassy. From there I filled out DS-160, created an online account on the interview appointment website, paid the fees and booked an interview for Sep 20th.

When booking the interview, make sure that you will have enough time to receive the documents from the US petitioner, because you will have to bring everything with you to the embassy, and depending on how much he/she pays to mail you the documents, it can take up to 10 days to receive the docs from him/her. For us, sending everything in 3 days was $60, so we sent with 7-10 days for $6. So you have to take that time into account when booking the interview.

When I booked, they had slots available every other Wednesday morning. The earliest appointment available was two weeks from the date I booked.

You can find all the information on their website : list of documents to prepare, link to online booking system, contact information and instruction for medical visit, lab tests, etc..

    Hi,

I never received anything from the embassy until after I was almost done with the process. 1) fill out the DS-160 2) create an account will message you the website and such. After you pay for the DS-160, you will be able to schedule the interview. 3) after you schedule the interview you can go ahead and do medical.

Thank you very much for this information!

  7. Hi guys,

I have a question regarding Packet 3. On the NVC website, my case says "Ready", but we have not heard from the embassy about packet 3. I have read that some people never receive it and just move on with the rest of the process. And I have also read that some people received an email form the embassy and then do the DS-160 and online profile creation for the appointment. Could you please tell me what your situation was? Did you receive anything form them? If not, did you run into any trouble at the embassy after you had booked your appointment yourself?

    Many thanks for your help!

  8. Hello,

Our first "original submission" was lost by USPS, so we sent a second one with FedEx, which was delivered successfully. Now, we just received our NOA1 and from the date that is indicated on it, it shows that it is our first package that USCIS opened and processed. Which means that they have received both our "original submissions". Do you think this could be a problem for us and our application?

    Many thanks !

    O.
