Hi everybody - just an update on my parents application. They had their medical two weeks ago and their interview at the London embassy today. They ended up needing some extra information for the medical, which didn’t get to the embassy in time for today, But they are approved for the visa awaiting the medical packet!
They said the people in the embassy were really nice and because we had filed everything electronically they didn’t need any of the additional paperwork they had pulled together. All they wanted to see was the original of their birth certicates and marriage certificate. They were in and out within 45 mins. The embassy people said they should get their passports back within 3 to 4 days of the medical information turning up!
i can’t believe we are near the end of this process....now the hard stuff starts - packing up, selling houses etc...
Hi My parents have their interview in another month, could you tell me what kind of questions were your parents asked ?
Thank-you.

5. Who is living with me
6. Where is my father
7. What job he will be doing in the US
I am beyond excited and happy . Thank you all for your prayers and best wishes. I am very emotional right now, tears of joy. God bless you all 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

IR5 takes longer than the CR1/IR1
i applied for the IR5 for my parents and it took the same time as the IR1/CR1 ( of the people who i was following) from what i noticed.

@Saaniya Thanks for the update! Every time I ask they simply say it can take from weeks to months. I wonder why such a long wait only for Mumbai. IR5 for parents doesn't even fall under the quota.
just for clarification, i thought IR5 and CR1/IR1 are the same classification I have applied for IR5 for my parents, so am curious ?

It's good that your confusion have sorted out..Yours is F3 category??? Basically they only allow the applicant inside the embassy. But many people claimed that they have been inside .So you can go at least you can ask them as you have US passport I think they will allow you.
we applied for for an IR-5 ( it is the same category as spouse of US citizen).
I was a bit confused as when i read the pdf downloaded from the mumbai consulate ( i think calld packed of instructions) it says petitioner will be allowed, yet yesterday when i called the customer care they said, no one is allowed.

Thank you so much for your reply! I don’t think the priority date matters for CR1 as visas are always available for IR and CR cases.
I just felt so down before your reply. I called the NVC a few minutes ago and the guy was just rude. Saying that it was probably a special case that someone got an interview so quickly, it’s a busy consulate, could take months and an attitude to go along with it.
Does anyone know the usual trend for interviews being scheduled for Bombay?
Thank you in advance.
On friday when i called NVC , they said the same thing and monday I received the email saying the inter view is scheduled. So do not take what they said so seriously.
i dont think the mumbai consulate is that busy, I think you should get an interview slot, in september or in October.
If you look at the immigration timelines ( link at the top left side) select IR1-CR1, and filter it for India, and then order it for the field Visa interview, it would give you an idea of how interviews were scheduled.

Medical and biometrics need to be done before the interview.. Biometrics must be done at least a day prior to the interview..try to do medical a week before the interview as the report takes 2-3days to prepare.. Biometrics can be done any Among 5 Visa Application Center locations around India and same with Medical. You can do medical at any Among all the embassy approved clinics..In your p4 letter(interview) you can get the instructions.. ustraveldocs.com is the site where you have to book biometrics.Where r u from in India??
Thank-you, for the information.we are from Hyderabad.we have scheduled the biometrics appointment in hyd next week, and spoke with the medical center in hyderabad and will hopefully get in done next week or after that.
could I as the petitioner, attend the interview with my parents ( the beneficiaries) at the mumbai consulate ?

Dod you put in a special request or expedite or are you going through normal processing? My wife’s CC was July 30th and she is pregnant. We are waiting and waiting. I have put in the expedite requests as well and it just gets denied. I am hoping to get the interview date ASAP or it will be too late for her to travel! Everyone please pray for us!
CC: July 30th
Mumbai
i went thru the normal processing times, (FYI my priority date was 7 july, 2017 not sure if the priority date has any role to play for the interview scheduling). but since i just got the email today, hopefully you should get yours in a day or 2.

ALL GLORY, PRAISE BELONG TO ALLAH. Alhamdulillah Alhamdulillah. 11 months on our case felt waiting for decades on case#, then review for docs then interview letter. once get the interview date the afraid about interview results.. overall very tough journey. but finally it's over now.
Alhamdulillah my husband had his interview early today and got approved at Islamabad embassy in Pakistan. interview time 8:30am. went to first building at 6am. embassy called in applicant at 7:30 for 8:30 interview, went in. took ticket for shuttle. reached at final diplomatic embassy at around 8am. got token, done biometrics submitted medical, original birth & marriage certificates, passport and passport size photos. around 10am husband was called for interview. An American male & local interpreter was there to interview. Questions asked;
1. Who is petitioning you.
2. How long has it been since marriage?
3. How long you both stayed together?
4. Did she came back to visit you after marriage?
5. Show me your wedding photos?
6. Do you guys have any child?
7. Have you ever travel out of Pakistan? note: ( in this case we feel so lucky that we got approved, because I did all my husband's paperwork my own "i.e.. I130, I130A and visa application form" . I unintentionally ignored my husband's visit to London. He went to London on study visa for 4 years. I never provided his London address on paperwork. However, we got UK pcc for safe side. Co did ask for his UK pcc at the interview, after reviewing pcc, stated you are approved and pick up passport in 2 weeks. Alhamdulillah
I really want to thank all VJ members who helped to understand the process when needed.
posted.
congratulations !!!

I just called to try and confirm my scan date and the woman on the phone just kept saying, " We received your documents on July 3rd, I can see in our system that your documents are in line to be reviewed" I kept asking if they were scanned in and she just repeated the same thing. I'm going to assume that July 3rd, the day they say they received them is my scan date.
I have the same issue, they just keep repeating that they received the documents on 28th june and it takes 6 weeks to be reviewed.

When was your scan date?
I'am not sure, when I called NVC (on July 6th) they only told me that they received the documents on 28th June, and it takes 6 weeks to review them, so i 'am assuming that the documents have been scanned.
I will call them again this weekend and see if i can get more information regarding the scan date.

@Hopeful_nc Happy to hear it was a good interview. Maybe it does depend on the embassy they are going to be interviewed in , and also the CO doing the interview.
