My husband's K-3 was just approved a few days so we're still waiting for it to get to the embassy from the NVC, but I was wondering what we should do once we get into the US. We applied for the I-130 back in March so I feel like we should have an approval for that one soon as well. We are anxious to get back to the US but really don't want to come back to Venezuela for the immigrant visa. However, it seems to me like the AOS is a very lengthy process and if we applied for AOS instead of waiting for the I-130 to be approved then we'd be pushing ourselves back another 6 months or more. (I'm from CT so our District Office would be Hartford and according to their processing dates they're still on October 2005!) We really don't want to come back for the immigrant visa because at around the time I'm anticipating we'd have to return it will be in the middle of elections, which has been anticipated to be very dangerous. Any suggestions from anyone? Can we wait for the I-130 to be approved and then apply for AOS? Does that speed up the process any? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much for your help!!

Nani just learned today that her auntie will share her home with a US exchange student very soon. She has two school age daughers herself (grades 5 and 10). Wow, that is going to be one heck of an experience for the American kid living in an average home in one of the poorest countries on the planet. It's a good home but it's just nowhere near American standards. Imagine sharing a home of no more than 1,000 sqft with a family of 4 and 2 servants.

This is excellent, though, as this brings about some hope that maybe Nani's cousins can eventually take advantage of the exchange program themselves and spend some time in the US and learn at a school here for a little while. They'd love that opportunity.
