Here is a spread sheet. You can see an average "wait" time, for both - CSC and VSC

Good luck with your immigration journey!!! :)

Thanks for sharing. But I don't see Bella1464's biometric receiving date there. We live in the same state.  As a matter of fact, I don't see any Indiana biometric data there

I've just called USCIS and asked: "Sir, can you tell me why now it takes more than a year to process I-751 while just half a year ago it took only 5-6 months?". And he said this is because they received 3 times as more applications during pre-election period since people tried to do it before a new president gets elected. However, it makes no sense to me for 2 reasons: 1. Everyone was sure that Clinton would win so they were not supposed to worry about Trump. 2. How is it possible for application filing to fluctuate if you must file exactly during a period of 3 months preceding the expiration date on your GC. If you have to file from June 1st to August 31st, then you file from June 1st to August 31st and you have no choice. I can say exactly that delays started from applications filed in April 2016. It means, if to believe his words, people who could file from April 1st to July 1st of 2016, suddenly realized that Trump may win and kick out everyone. So June, May and April filers all filed in April and then  July, June and May filers all filed in May and so on and so forth.  Also I asked: "Sir, so do you mean that this is not because they now look into each case very closely and call everyone for interview?." And he said no.  Does it sound reasonable to you?

Response from that staff does not sound reasonable to me at all. I would guess it's the workload transferred from other centers and they don't have enough resources to handle those cases as fast as before. I wouldn't think it's because of the new president's policy because so far his target has been the illegal immigrant and the ones who committed crimes here.

I did! I received NOA after a week or so. :)

On the paper that our attorney gave us, it says they are sending through Fedex. But CSC only has PO Box address on USCIS website. I was like...you sure about Fedex?.. But I guess they always use the physical address then. Had bad experience with USPS before as well. Just can't trust them. They lose your packages but they never lose junk mail delivered to you. lol

I feel like I began to be afraid of having deal with USPS..

In 2014 we sent a package with a paperwork  to evaluate school/university scores in to USA credits. Evaluation centers are only working with originals, no copies. So, yes, original  Diplomas and  academic transcripts were sent.

Tracking # showed it was delivered and signed. Great! But in some time we learnt the EC has never received our package. So, we filed a claim with USPS, and meanwhile started our own "investigation". We found the company our packet was delivered by mistake, contacted them and they were nice to drop it to Evaluation Center, which was just few steps away from the company.. and from the USPS Office as well.

Of course, we have never heard anything back from USPS  - they have not even tried to contact the company, despite the fact the signature and address was really easy to track... for us, at least.

Now - 2 USCIS letters (NOA & ACS Appointment) have not been delivered to us...

I understand things happen, but every time I have to mail something important, with sensitive info inside -  freaks me out until package is delivered..  And what happened to janet&adonis   - just horrible...

the thing with USPS is they never miss spam mails. lol

Who here, if anyone, received a reminder notice to begin the ROC process?

I did not and have not moved.

Curious in knowing...not that it matters (I filed earlier this month) but would like to know why I didn't get one if this is standard procedure.

I filed the change of address and never received the ROC notice.

our app was rejected because it was missing all the evidence and it was missing page 2 with our address and it was missing the check

Sorry to hear that. It must be very frustrating to go through that. USPS is cheaper but I usually don't have good faith in USPS. I mailed a couple of international packages through them and I couldn't even track them once outside of the country...

I am about to file my I751 soon as well. same confusion here. And I think I will do what you did, put N/A at all irrelevant places.

If you have an easy case, you really can do it all on your own.  I followed all the guides here and  the instructions on www.uscis.gov to a T and got thru the I-130 in 9 months and no RFE's.  I completed the ROC packet by following the information pinned in the ROC forum.  It really isn't complicated.  I think you can do it on your own.  A lawyer will only fill out the form and mail it for you.  You are the one who has to do all the collecting of evidence and just hand it to them.  Study the guides here and then make the determination if you can do it on your own.  I believe you can.  If you have questions, just post them here and there are a ton of seasoned veterans here that are gracious enough to help.

Thank you for the encouragement. Hiring an attorney or not has had me hesitated a lot. lol

My husband and I weren't living together the first year of our marriage either.  For the I-751 process, you will be submitting co-mingling/finances.  Everything you have from the time you were married or from the time you starting living together should be submitted ie - joint banking statements, joint credit card statements, life insurance, etc.  Since my husband lived in Jamaica our first year, we were only able to send documentation that started when he arrived in the states.  USCIS understands that most are not living together at first because of having to wait for the visa to be approved.  So, therefore, you can only submit what existed once you actually started living together.  I submitted all of my travel itineraries to Jamaica and pictures from our first year of marriage while on those visits.  I figured since we didn't have bank account info etc, this was at least a way to show we were in a continuous relationship.  Hope this helps.

Thank you. Our case is pretty straightforward. But after reading a few denial and RFE cases, I'm thinking maybe using hiring an attorney just in case. We did our I130 through attorney, not 100% satisfied but they did get us through with no troubles/RFEs.

There is an example of the i-755 cover letter.  At the top and in the middle, after the date, you enter i-755, original application.  Underneath then you enter RE: your name as applicant and alien number.  Then you explain with dots or numbers all the items submitted including the application, personal check, etc.  In one those itemization explained why did you not file taxes in 2015.  By the way, I would have file even if you did not owe anything, to have some paper trail.  A simple tax form you could have filled up or use Turbo-tax, etc. for free.  Of course, send the 2016 returns, better IRS transcripts. I do not think you will have any problems.  Enter all documents supporting commingling of funds and cojoint bank accounts, leases, mortgages, etc.

    Thank you.

  10. Hi All,

We are about to file i751 soon and we have a few questions regarding taxes.

       1. We filed taxes for 2014 in 2015 as married but file separately because for the first half year of 2014 I was F-1 student and then we got married, then I had to go back home and started I-130 process. I already had SSN at that time because I took part-time on campus job. And also, on this forum, many said to file married but file separately during I-130 process.

       2. We didn't file taxes for 2015 because we didn't make enough.

       3. But we did file 2016 as married jointly.

So my question is: should we write an explanation letter for 1 and 2 and attach it with the package?and is there any example of explanation letter here?

    Thank you guys in advance.

    Best
