Is Orlando seeing much in the way of 2018 filers, or is it just progressing along as normal?

there are definitely people who filed in later 2017 and earlier 2018 got their interviews scheduled or case approved already. But since I am not adjusting from K1, and most of them are, I can't tell what should be normal for my case.

Since I'm here I'll ask few questions that were bugging me for a while.

My EAD is expiring in May, but I probably won't get interview until late April. Do you know if I need to apply for new EAD and pay the fee again? Also, since it'll be more than 12 months since my medical exam, will I need to get a new one? And the last questions- I'll be traveling abroad with my passport in my maiden name, and my AP card in my current last name. Did anybody have any experience with that? I'll be flying in through Detroit.

    Thanks in advance!

bring your marriage certificate with you when traveling, to show your name change. that was what I did when flying in through San Francisco last year.

Orlando office. good luck to you as well! thank.

HAS ANYONE HERE HAD THE EXPERIENCE OF TRAVELING WITH AP WHILE WAITING ON AOS? AND HOW DID IT GO?

I did, no problem at all. we entered through San Francisco airport, we did get secondary security check,  just make sure you have your AP or combo card, I also had my marriage certificate with me. The officer asked me, if this is my first time traveling with AP, where did I go, what for. all within 10 mins including the waiting time.

It is not an accusation. Recent report by inspector general shows that this administration has previously violated court order. This is called an educated guess and anything but a blind accusation. Also has been constantly stated that they don not like certain people based on the geography of their origination. These are neither secrets nor urban legends. It's out there for everyone to see.

This forum is not only for K-1 applications but for anyone filing family based I-485. All I said for those in my shoes to contact their representatives and get some information and don't let time go to waist. But I don't expect a German to understand the situation. You already had it easy and I am very happy for you that your journey was uneventful.

    Thanks

you are not alone on this and I don't think you are targeted because of your background.  I know a lot of ppl from different backgrounds including myself still waiting for their interview to be scheduled, I also know there are a lot more with similar background have already got their green card. The process is frustrating, victimize yourself won't help you going through it. Let's be optimistic and supportive,  we will get our interviews soon.

probably you are right. but my case didn't even change from request for evidence received. i don't think it is in florida field office. maybe i have to call and poke them about my case :P

    • As of October 15, 2017, your inquiry about why your case is taking longer than our processing time, referral number SR128xxxxxxxxxxMSC, is currently not assigned for processing.

i send out the same SR (taking longer than processing time) on Oct 3rd, still not assigned for processing. not sure if it would ever be assigned....

Quick question for anyone who has travelled with their EAD/AP combo card..... I'm from the UK, this is going to sound like a stupid question but I'm not going to need a tourist visa or anything like that to travel to the UK, my passport is still good for being a citizen ?

Also do I need any other documents to be able to get back into the US other than my EAD/AP combo card :)?

marriage certification if you have changed your last name

Thank you! Yeah they only took the picture of me and did the vision test but wouldn't let me take the written one. In hindsight I should've tried to insist that i want to take the written test as well since I got up at 6am, had studied and already took the time to go there, but I was just so puzzled by the entire situation that they told me that they were unable to verify my status with my EAD. They wouldn't lose any time had they just let me quickly take the test since they still prepared the rest of the documents. Plus today they just took my verbal confirmation that it had been verified without checking, so it's not like it seems like they need prof of it to let me take the tests. Oh well lesson learned, I'm going to stand my ground the next time something like this happens.

Also, from my research I found out that this seems to happen a lot to H1B visa holder who want to get a DL. It makes more sense that it happens to a visa holder though that has an embassy issued visa than for someone who has an actual verified immigration status card in hand (EAD) issued by USCIS. It's frustrating how inefficient the immigration process is being handled. Hoping for a smooth process from here.

Good luck for your behind the wheel test as well!!!!

H1b status or H1b visa holder if you will also have an USCIS issued document (I-797 approval notice) in hand.

I understand you frustration, it happened to me and my friends too, when we tried to get our DL renewed at DMV. They just told me they were unable to verify our information in their system and told us to go back later.

I'm adjusting from a K-1 Visa but my local office is also NYC. Unfortunately, the office is one of the most backlogged ones in the country. I'd try and prepare for a long wait until you get an interview appointment and just be happy if you happen to get one sooner rather than later. I'm still stuck on "Fingerprint Fee Received" since the beginning of March so I'm not sure if I'll even have an interview.

I just heard from someone I know got her i485 approved without interview. filed in March and NYC field office. so it might be your turn soon.

Anyone in the Northeast FL area on here? Our local office is Orlando, but our case still only says "fingerprint fee received." In August, it will be the 6 month mark and we can call. We did not file for AP because we don't need to travel internationally until Christmas, but are now thinking in August we should apply since there has been no movement on the green card front. It's really disheartening :(

Hi, my field office is also Orlando, I filed on March 14 and my i485 status is "ready to be scheduled for interview" since May...

    That's odd. I didn't have that problem.

me either. I put an SR on June 16th. got response on June 19 saying its under review and I should receive a decision or notice of other action shortly. But I got nothing since then. So I just put in another SR online a few minutes ago, it let me, didn't say anything of "need to wait 30 days" ...

Ok just trying to get an idea of how things are going for March filers.

Comment below on who's waiting for EAD, AOS or both. If you got approved how long did you wait, was there an RFIE or RFE, and type of visa originally filed i.e. K1 (fiancée visa)

Yes I could just go through everyone's timeline but this puts it all in one place for everyone.

I know each case is different and I shouldn't use other peoples to figure out mine. But I'm impatient! And now that the wait is. Beyond the 90 days I have the itch. I know there are people still waiting well beyond 100 days and it's sad.

Thanks ahead to anyone who posts!

    RD: 03/14

    fingerprint: 05/03

    EAD/AP: day 100+

I-485: ready to be scheduled for interview since     05/09
