  1. Just a heads up to everyone: I paid the visa fee yesterday to the local consulate (Taiwan) and have been refreshing the appointment registration page the whole day. I kept getting a "There are currently no appointments available" message. As I'm already used to most of the websites in this process being broken (USCIS, USPS Informed Delivery), I went ahead and called the Taiwan consulate and informed them of the issue. The representative confirmed with me that this was indeed a problem in the CGI website and escalated the problem. Within a few hours, I refreshed the page and there were 5 appointments available! I booked the interview for the 27th.

If you get a similar error message when making your appointment, don't hesitate to call the consulate!

  2. My case status at NVC just updated to "In Transit", but at the bottom of the status they put in this info: "Your case is in transit to the Consular Section. Your interview date was provided to you by the National Visa Center.".

Has anyone else gotten this message? I was under the impression I had to schedule the interview after the status was "Ready", with me picking the date. Or is there a separate interview that I don't know about?

  3. Website maintenance tonight...maybe we'll see more updates afterwards?

After work today, i certainly plan to visit my local congressman's office for support,  he's helped me with past issues and i am hoping he can help with this issue at CSC..i have to do something and just can't hope for the best especially in these circumstances, and at that how the conflict between Taiwan and China are getting worse day by day.

Hi Chris! February filer here (02/07). My fiancée is also in Taiwan. Please let me know if mentioning the Taiwan/China conflict helps in speeding up your approval. If it does, I'll definitely think of doing the same if my case gets excessively delayed.
