Hello All!
We just got married 9/30 and will be filing AOS / EAD / AP next week! These threads kept us sane through the K1 process.
-
IN - a parent, spouse, fiancé, child, son- or daughter-in-law, or sibling, including step- or half-siblings.
OUT - grandparents, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, in-laws, extended family and grandchildren.

Oh shucks! You will definitely have to start over because you need it to retrieve the application. They don't email that to you or anything when u start. Sorry
Thanks. That's what I thought. Stupid us.

Help!!
We were filling out the DS-160 online and got logged out.
In order to get back in it needs the application ID.
I didn't write down the application ID. I didn't know i needed to.
How do I retrieve this number?

We received our case number from NVC last night.
Just another routine nightly phone call to NVC and POOF!..... the man gave us a NUMBER instead of a 6 week answer.

Email is a waste of time, at least it was for us. Speak to them on the phone, and if the agent who picks up the phone can't/wont help you, insist on speaking to a supervisor. You can cite a problem with your case, the options they've told you to try not working, or simply just demand to speak to one.
Ok we call everyday too, lol. We have never requested a supervisor, but now that it's 30 days since NOA 2 we will start requesting a supervisor.
This wait is killing us. We thought once we received NOA 2 we were in the clear. Now it's just more pain.

OMG I finally have my MTL number! NVC received my petition on the 14th and sent it to Montreal on the 16th! Finally.
So weird though, I called on the 16th and they told me still not received...
how did you receive the number? email? snail mail?

Day 135 for me ... also for Brazil ...this wait is taking too long
Wow. That's incredibly long. So sorry to hear this. You will get NOA 2 soon, hang in there.
My fiance is from SP. We received NOA 2 at 120 days.
But now we are back in the waiting game again for the NVC case #.
This is a painful process of wait, wait, wait, and more wait.

Hello Everyone!
My husbands visa interview is scheduled in Rio on July 14th for a CR-1 visa. We were wondering how long it generally takes to receive the visa? We were hoping to buy a flight to the U.S since we found a good deal. He is willing to stay in Rio and pick it up if that would speed up receiving it.
where did you find the cheap flight? lol.

The Rio consulate will send the USC an email with directions that the Brazilian partner should follow to schedule the medical, interview, which docs they will need at interview, etc.
you can find the consulates website and they have the same info there.
What is the USC?
Do you have a copy of the email of what they request?

Does the Rio Embassy send the beneficiary a 3rd packet? What is the significance of this? Can someone send me a copy?
What is the process after the Rio Embassy receives our petition?

Approvals are whats not being updated on USCIS website. Other functions seem to still be working.
Which makes me think it is deliberate that approvals no longer show.
Why are they being deliberate about not showing approvals?

I called CSC because I freaked out since almost everyone with same RFE received response date got their NOA2 and I thought the system is broke. But no, they still didn't work on my RFE response of course. They said I can wait up to 60 days which just ruined my week.
Everyone here says the systen is down but when they sent RFE and received the response my case status got updated .. so it's not down for everyone I guess.
We have the same RFE received date. We were really hoping to receive a response back this week too. Hang in there!

I'd like to say THANK YOU for sharing this information.
We were waiting for an update after sending USCIS our RFE a couple weeks ago, and despite having nothing in the mail or any updates online, my partner just received a call back and was informed that our case has been approved since May 19th and our NOA-2 is in the mail!
We wouldn't have even considered calling if you hadn't posted, so congratulations to you but more importantly thank you for sharing!
For others who have had bad experience calling, perhaps it's just bad luck...but the agent was super helpful, polite, and courteous! Stay positive, stay friendly, and keep trying! ❤
I called USCIS last night hoping to get the same result as you about our RFE, but no luck. They said our case is still being processed, blah blah blah.....
It was my first time ever calling so I was just being polite and playing dumb knowing that they have no clue. I did find it weird that the agent asked me if I had ever called before.
Anyway here is to hoping we receive the NOA2 ASAP!

Wow! Congrats! I have the same RFE reply date as you. I will call too! What was the number you called?

Hi there! I'm also a beneficiary from Brazil. Some thoughts for you:
- If you have resources and time, it's probably a good idea that you spend more days in Rio after the interview, so you could get her passport with the K1 visa direct from the embassy (instead of having it mailed to her house, which who knows how long it would take). It seems the embassy doesn't take to long to have the visa ready.
Do you know how long it takes to receive the visa direct from the embassy after the interview?
Our visa would be mailed to Campinas, but we are not sure if we should stick around in Rio to get it in person.

Hey! How do you know that CSC received your RFE? They change your status ?? I sent my RFE on may the 4th and my status is still frozen on " we sent you a RFE ", not " we received it". They should received it on may the 9th something like that... I thought my status was still the same because of the huge probleme with notification, but now i'm really worried...
We sent our RFE on 5/10. On 5/12 our status changed from "we sent you an RFE" to "we received it". We also had tracking on the package because I didn't trust them to update our status.

Curious to hear how many here (if any) are waiting on an approval having had an RFE returned to USCIS? Not sure how long I should expect to be waiting..
USCIS received our RFE response on 5/12. We are expecting to wait about 2 weeks for the USCIS response, but I'm not sure if we should expect to wait longer either.

I was under the impression that only the US citizen was required to show a birth certificate for the I-129f? Is this incorrect? Thanks
You are correct only the petitioner needs a birth certificate. Sorry about the confusion.

RFE notice in front, followed by a cover letter, followed by whatever they asked for. The cover letter isn't required, but I think it helps organize the documents.
They're really sticklers for the IMB requirements lately. Providing the ToC is good. If you still have access to the first messages sent/received, you can send that as well. I also had the dating website send me an email from their customer service team to verify they are not an IMB.
Were you able to send overnight? California service center is where we are sending ours.
October 2017 AOS filers (merged)
in Adjustment of Status Case Filing and Progress Reports
Posted
Hello,
We were married via K1 on 9/30, still working on AOS, EAD, etc. Is my wife considered out of status because we haven't filed yet? Is there a timing we need to file by?
