Nastia Liz reacted to dystopia in Do i need new medical for AOS interview?
    Hello!

So I went to the interview with my husband this morning. The officer did not even ask nor talk anything about the medical.

(History: I had my medical at my birth country on May 2017, as requirement for K1 visa. They gave the results to me on a sealed envelope which then I submitted to the immigration officer at point of entry in the US on July 2017. I only included a copy of the DS-3025 in the AOS packet when I submitted my AOS application Sept 2017, and kept the original. I did not submit an i-693.)

The officer asked us for originals to inspect: birth certificates, passport, IDs, marriage certificate. Did not ask for original DS-3025. She asked for wedding photographs. I submitted a total of 5 pictures: 2 wedding, 1 with my fam overseas, 1 with his fam in a different state and 1 of us in vacation somewhere. She asked for proof of us being together. I gave her copy of lease, insurance, 2 joint bank statements, 1 credit card, 1 phone bill. She went through it all, but said she has enough and returned the credit card and phone bill.

We brought with us an updated affidavit of support form, the latest version of the form, to show most recent tax returns of 2017, then 2016 & 2015, W2s, paystubs and letter of employment because my husband changed jobs end of last year and 2017 tax return has my name in there; so she thanked us for doing that and took all of it. She asked my husband the questions in the affidavit of support form. Then she asked me questions from the AOS form like, from my name down to "Have you ever been jailed..." kinda questions. Also asked my job in the Philippines, history of travel, how we met, and my new job here. Told me she's approving my application and the card will be mailed in 2-4weeks.

    Goodluck guys. :)

Very often K1/K2s are interview waived, so may not even have one...

You should be fine - just check your USCIS account and have someone to keep eye on your mail box.

    Have a wonderful trip

Yes, you have to mail. And I believe there is an instruction how to reschedule an interview on the original Interview Notice

So, yes, you should have someone you trust to check your mail box while you are gone. Usually they give you a Notice 2 weeks before your interview date. But if it was me - I'd do everything possible to return to the US for my interview..  without re-scheduling.

    Good luck!!

Yes you can travel with your combo card.
We had to reschedule our AOS interview.  We were able to do it all by phone.  Our Cleveland Ohio field office acted like it was no big deal.  Each ones processes vary though.

As long as  your combo card has the statement "Serves as I-512 Advance Parole", you are good to travel

You should book tickets under your "passport" name. Also, keep your Marriage Certificate along with your combo card (if last names are different on your passports and EAD).

If you have more than one stop in the US on your way back, give it at least 2 -3 hours of layover between flights - most likely you'll be pulled to a secondary and you never know how long it can take.

Also, I'd advice to have someone you trust to check your mailbox while your are gone - on-line updates are not always accurate.
Sometimes re-scheduling an interview can bring you  to a denial - it happens, unfortunately ,  or as Starkilla09 has mentioned  - to a delay in your case, so it's something to take into account.

Although  very often K-1 doesn't get an Interview...

    Good luck!!!!

Yes you can travel with your combo card, that’s exactly what advance parole is used for. Now with regards to your interview you will have to keep an eye while abroad and check regularly to make sure you don’t miss any interview notification letter from USCIS. Normally your interview letter will arrive 1 month prior to the actual interview day. The best way to keep an eye on this is to sign up for for a “my USCIS account” on USCIS.gov in case you didn’t send a form G-1145 ( e notification to request email or text message from USCIS) together with your AOS petition. If your interview date falls on a day while you’re still abroad, you can always reschedule by calling them. However this will delay your case again by a couple of months so it’ll be best to make sure you do anything possible to attend your interview and get it done with. By the way no you can’t tell USCIS not to schedule your interview, you can only make them take action after it has already been scheduled by asking USCIS rescheduling it for you. Scheduling will depend on actual processing times by your local USCIS field office so visit their website to have an idea how long again you might have to wait.

    Good

P.S.  I'm sure you are aware of that, but just in case   - you should bring your vaccination record (immunization card) in for your medical exam. They will need this as a basis for issuance a form DS-3025. When medical is done and it's time to pick the results, make sure they gave you the form  -  needed for a green card application.
