  1. Yes I'm currently living in the US in Illinois. I saw it will cost more. I looked up all the forms already and printed them off. I have all the documents needed and what not but i'm just not sure where my I-130 is right now. hopefully i will get an answer on Monday

  2. Thanks for the suggestions. We would be montreal all the way. Hubby lives in Manitoba we had to go to Calgary to submit the I-130. Since I got to skip the whole first process i'm not sure on a few things. If NOA1 is the receipt then i have that along with a letter from Montreal that they are now processing my husbands immigrant visa and listed IR1 so I think I have NOA2 also. I think once I get notice what USCIS center we are being transfered to I will start a K-3. It is worth a shot just to see how it all turns out.

I'm so lost because I haven't followed the K-3 process and going through USCIS. I'm gonna need help! I'm going to contact Montreal on Monday to find out what in God's name is going on and where we are being transferred. What a mess. To be so close and then have to start from scratch. If I knew this then we would have started with the K-3 to begin with and be 4 months closer instead of starting again

  3. Yes unfortunately that is what it is looking like. Due to a new law that was put into effect the 24th I-130 applications will be sent to the nearest USCIS office to be reapproved. Basicly i'm taking it to mean starting over. We were just waiting for packet 4.

Since we don't know what this is going to do to our IR1 which is what we were on with the DCF i was hoping K-3 would be a little quicker. Yes Montreal is where we are going.

I feel like i've been hit by a brick trying to figure out where o go from here and what kind of time this is going to cost us. I've been crying all morning. Since i am a PR of Canada I suppose I could go back but we were both really wanting this to go through for us.

  4. Hi all,

Unfortunately we have been caught up in this DCF new law and it looks like our I-130 is on its way to the US to restart the process which will add at least 6 months to a year to our process.

Can we file K-3 now that this is happening? I'm thinking that the K-3 might get him here earlier. I guess I will now feel what the IMBRA people when through. Any suggestions would help.

    thanks

  5. Nope I'm in the US he is in Canada my mom is in the US. We have thought about stopping the process but then we are at the point of no return. We just didn't think my husband would have to quit his job and we would have had no problems paying on and even off our bills but everything went to hell in a handbag. We thought of debt help places, bankrupty, and have even made some calls to try to settle with creditors without luck there. We have nothing at all. We live with family and use their tv, cable, internet etc. I guess you learn from your huge mistakes and we will be digging out of this one for years to come not matter what happens.

  6. I wish we could come up with a budget. It would help but we don't have enough left for a budget. I (USC) lived in Canada for the last few years we filed DCF and I came back to the US to get a job and what not for domicle. I took a cut in pay for a new job. About a month ago my mom had a heart attack and I have to take off time here and there because she is in and out of the hospital with problems. Montreal would not rush the interview because it was not me who had the heart attack. My husband had to get a new job because his job required him to cross the border daily and when we talked to the POE they told us they would refuse him entry and ban him if he kept that up during the process so he quit and took another job with a cut in pay over half. Right now we are thinking this was the biggest mistake of our lives because slowly we are loosing everything we have because we just can't afford it. We don't make enough to pay bills and eat and put gas in the car. However I need to be here for my mom too. It is completely tearing us apart.

  7. We are still waiting to receive packet 4 and have no idea when it will come...hopefully soon.

My question is how is everyone handling their debt? We are falling quick trying to pay our bills. We have already lost one car and are trying to make a settlement on the left over amount but other bills are coming after us too. My husband in Canada works and I work here in the states but with the decision to move to the US has caused us to take new jobs and we just not able to make ends meet anymore. We are both trying to get second jobs but we know once he is here in the states it will be a little bit before he gets a job and a paycheck coming in and that just might be our breaking point. What options do we have? Can we file bankrupty in Canada from the US. Will our Canadian debt come after us and garnish our US wages? We just didn't expect not to be able to pay our bills and it is hurting our marriage as well as our credit. Any suggestions would help

  8. No i have not e-mailed or called in over 2 weeks because my last e-mail reply was snotty so i haven't but i was thinking i should try to see if i could get an answer this time. I was hoping i would hear something real soon.

  9. Sorry i have not posted for a bit but congrats to everyone who has gotten interview/approved.

My mom had a heart attack a couple of weeks ago and now has heart failure. Her quality of life has gone way down and i've been taking off a lot of work to help take care of her and what not. It is taking a huge toll on me mental and financial at this point. I know that there is a provision you can apply for to get your spouse here sooner but my question is would that apply since its my mom and not me? We are just waiting for packet 4 at this time. I've thought about sending an e-mail to Montreal but I don't know if they would believe me or not. Any suggestions would be helpful. I'm grasping at straws probably but there is always hope.

  10. The cheapest I have found is UPS as they take up to 75lbs a box. Moving companies such as United Van lines etc are pretty expensive. I guess it really depends on how your finace intends to get from SK to MO. Drive, Fly etc that will make the difference.

  11. Hi all,

Just a little update here. I the USC applied DCF for my husband. We are not just waiting for packet 4. I have since gone back to the US to get a job and what not. I still haven't found a job but still looking. My dad is my co-sponsor and makes plenty of money to sponsor and has been at his job going on 5 years now. My dad now wants to take another job. It pays more money but it will require them to move on top of it. My question is how will this affect him being my co-sponsor since we are so close to the end?

  12. I e-mailed Monteral last night and got a response back from them today. They only require me to change my address via e-mail directly to them. Just thought I would update what Montreal said for future DCF cases if this comes up again :)

  13. Our case is already at Montreal because we are DCF. I will try to e-mail them and see if I need to fill out anything. I'm not sure why they would transfer our case to the US when we are already at Montreal that doesn't make any since. Hopefully Montreal will let me know but I guess I will fill out a I-865 just incase that is what they want me to send them.

  14. I have a quick question. I filed DCF through Canada for my husband as we both lived in Canada at the time. I the USC have since moved back to the US to get a job and a place to live for us. Do i need to file a change of address? I looked at the I865 but it says that you would use that if you have filed an I864 which we haven't done yet because we haven't had our interview in Montreal yet. Any one know?

  16. Hi we got packet 3 last week and the I864 and I864A are the old forms that you still have to get notarized and the I864A still says your household member has to live with you for 6 months which mine hasn't. Should I use the old forms they gave me with the new rules or download the new forms?
