  1. All,

My fiancé attended her interview on April 25. She said that the interview went well. She was given a 221g (green slip) for her to submit police records for Nicaragua and Panama. We sent the documents in. The embassy received the documents on May 18th. The department of state website posted on May 18th that they had received her application and for her to check back in two days. On May 22, the department of state website posted the following:

Your visa case is currently undergoing necessary administrative processing. This processing can take several weeks. Please follow any instructions provided by the Consular Officer at the time of your interview. If further information is needed, you will be contacted. If your visa application is approved, it will be processed and mailed/available within two business days.

For more information, please visit TRAVEL.STATE.GOV.

What does this mean? Administrative processing can be scary from what I understand...

    Thank you all!

Yes, it just means that once you get those documents sent in then they will process your visa. Don't worry because it is really common to get this if you have not submitted the PCC from other countries where the beneficiary has lived before.

Thank you, that makes me feel better.

  3. All,

My fiancé had her interview last Wednesday, at the US embassy in El Salvador. She said that the interview went great. The officer was great to work with, polite and very professional. He was impressed with all the documents we had submitted and the fact that we had seen each other multiple times and that I was traveling to see her that same day of the interview.

The only set back that we had was that we didn't have police records for two country where she lived 4 and 8 years ago... Panama and Nicaragua. We didn't know this was a requirement if you were outside of the 3 year period. She was given a green sheet, asking her to submit these two documents and sent back to them along with the her passport.

The next day, we travelled to Nicaragua and obtained the police record and the day after, we travelled to Panama. However, we weren't able to obtain that record until tomorrow. A friend of hers will pick up and send to her.

Has anyone experienced this? Meaning, a green piece of paper given and then visas issued?

  4. My fiancé and I began the K1 visa process in mid 2017. We got all the way to packet 3, but never received packet 4. We have been contacting the embassy in el Salvador and we have had no luck, until about a week ago. We were finally able to schedule an appointment for the interview after 5 months of waiting. We are now outside of the four month petition validity... can anyone comment as to their thoughts on being outside of the four month validity? We will have any issues at the interview because of this?

I would think that if it was an issue, the embassy would not allow an interview to be scheduled. The interview is April 25th.

    Thank you all,

  5. Thank you for your response. My fiancé attempted to contact the embassy in El Salvador. I also attempted to contact the NVC and their phone line was always experiencing high volumes. We recently sent an email to the embassy requesting information. We advised them that we had not received any emails. They responded and asked us to send them some of the information that we submitted in packet 3 in order to continue with the visa process.

  6. All,

My fiancé and I completed the K1 visa process. We got all the way to packet 3 and never received packet 4, which is the medical exam. We haven't heard anything in 5 to 6 months. We finally were able to make contact with the NVC in el Salvador to get a status. Has anyone ran into this issue?

    Thanks,

  7. Greetings everyone,

Last Friday, 7/14/17, I received my NOA-2 (hardcopy), stating that my petition was approved... so excited!!!

My question is, what now? I know the documents will be sent to  the NVC/Embassy where my fiancé resides. What do I need to do as the petitioner, and what should my fiancé do as the beneficiary? Also, how long those this next process take? I was shockingly surprised how quickly the I-129F was reviewed and approved... exactly 4 months!

    Thank you all,

While you are waiting for the NOA there are some things you can have your fiancé do; get birth certificate (I suggest 3 copies)

Things you will need, but not until you are at the NVC or NOA 2 stage:

    *Certificado de soltería (singleness certificate)

*Police certificate from the National police - (this has an expiration so don't get it too soon)

*I-134 and if you need a cosponsor because you don't meet the poverty threshold get that form ready.

    * At least 12 passport sized photos. Those are needed for the Civil Surgeon appointment as well as AOS. Cheaper to get them in

    Nicaragua so...

    If applicable:

    * Any marriage certificates if you've previously married as well as Divorce certificate which can be obtained from the Central Civil Registry in Managua

Let me know when you get to the waiting for interview part, I can send you a copy of the packet 4 which the embassy graciously emailed to me. Good luck on your visa journey and let me know if you have any questions; I would love to help in any way I can

    Thank you so much!!!
