October 3rd here, havent been approved either.. so frustrated!! My number ends in 6523 btw, anyone with that kind of number?

I think number is based on the order of when it got received by USCIS. My number is around 11k. ie 5k petitions after yours. btw u happen to know any reason for the delay? AFAIK mine and @vizthum is stuck in background check clearance. I am gonna follow your timeline as well. Let us keep each other updated.

It isn't. The infopass is the same as talking to a tier 2, they tell you basically the same information.

I have a theory that someone isn't checking their email and all of our background checks have been cleared for several weeks. It's just a theory, one of many I come up with during my many hours of thinking.

we have been thinking of many weird theories. But we will be taking ur theory since it relieves the tension a bit lol :)

I've talked to a Tier 2 everyday since April 20. I had an Infopass appointment today too. The only thing they can tell us is that we havcan been stuck in a background check since April 11. This is apparently why our adjudication is being delayed. W just have to wait and hope that it doesn't take too much longer.

we were planning to try info pass route. But it seems now that it won't be helpful as well.

I am October 6, 2016. I've been tracking the other Oct. 6 filers using the iOS app. Fro My oct. 6 alone there is about 100 filers who have received no one notice.

when you call customer service, ask to talk to a tier 2, they'll transfer you. The tier 2 can tell you if your application is with an officer or if it isn't stuck in background checks. Most likely it is stuck in background checks.

Did u mean 'no one' got approved? I was following around 50 oct 4 filers using the app and only 4 are yet to get approved. Background check is so frustrating arghhh. will be contacting senator again next week, . will let u know if i get any further information. Good luck.

I'm not sure the operators know the process at USCIS. I think they are only guessing at the process based on what they see on their computer screens. My operator said it didn't look like it had been seen by a reviewer yet. But, he can only see what is on the computer screen, so who knows.

I was told from Senator's office. They forwarded the message which they got from USCIS. Yes, nobody knows what's happening for real. Trying hard not to think about it further. Lets hope for the best!!

They didn't say anything. The operator was super helpful. I asked if it was the FBI Name Check that was processing, but his computer screen wouldn't show him what type of background check was being worked on. He did say that the background check was the second to last step. Next step is for the file to go to an officer for review. I guess that at this point our files haven't even been seen by another human...

I was told the other way around. .. I was told my case is with an operator in first week of april and then it went to background check.Confused now!!

I was told the exact same thing. It seems most people get it cleared in 72 hours, but if it isn't cleared quickly, the wait time is random. Sometimes a few weeks, sometimes a few months.

tas what i understood after researching a lot about it in forum. if not getting cleared in 2-3 days, it can take weeks, months or even years :( good to c somebody got same msg lol. really hope and pray our cases ll take shrtest possible time. ll let u know if i get any further updates!!

I'm October 6, and still nothing. You're right, the agents on the phone are rarely helpful. However, occasionally you're get a tier 2 that is able to help. I call once a day to talk with a tier 2, and finally I got information that our background check has been processing since April 11.

Did they say any additional details about background check? Any estimate about time needed further? My case is similar to u. PD  Oct 4,background check since April 14. really frustrating!!

When did you call? I just called this morning but they were not available, will call later today. Did they tell you when is your pettition will be approved more likely?

Last time we called was one week back. It seems, background check is somewhat automated, which happens in everyone's case and is part of review process which takes 2-4 weeks. AFAIK If there is some specific background check further initiated, it goes outside USCIS and is more or less like a black hole which can take any number of months. In our case, Senator told to wait 30 days further in order to get further clarity regarding the background check.

How do you contact the senator??? How does that work? did they say why are they runing backgroubd checks in your case?

search for senator's office nearby/in your state and contact them. You might have to fill in a 'privacy release form' so that they can contact USCIS for retrieving information on your behalf. We haven't got any specific updates regarding background check. They told it may be for beneficiary or petitioner or both.

No, have you? Husband needs to call to see whats going on, i called but i cant get any information.

didn't call USCIS. Contacted Senator twice. First time, we were  told that our case  is just taken for review by an officer and we can expect a result within 2-3 weeks.  Due to extreme impatience, called again in 2 weeks  and was told our case is pending background check clearance. But this time, no speculated time frame given. Senator office will contact USICS again after 30 days. Waiting patiently counting days!!

I know this is really hard to absorb, but I don't think there's much you can do. I asked my lawyer about your case today and she basically said that there is no way to learn anything about background checks (i.e., what's being checked? where is it being checked? when did the checks begin? when will the checks end?). Not even a US Senator or Congressperson can learn more about this process or help to expedite it. It seems incredibly unfair, but there's not much that can be done.

More over, I don't think knowing much about other people's timelines will be all that useful. Every application is sort of unique when it comes to background checks. My lawyer (who used to work at USCIS) basically told me that each application is subjected to a set of common background checks and then depending on certain factors a whole different set of background checks can come into play. Even worse, if some these background checks reveal anything, the application can then be subject to even more background checks.

I wish I had better news for you!

Thank you very much for clarifying with your lawyer. I was just wondering if its gonna be a background check for petitioner or beneficiary or both.  Planning not to involve senator further in our case until it gets approved since we somehow feel now that contacting them multiple times might have ended up in this situation. May be just pointless assumptions. Need to have tremendous patience now, which we didn't show earlier.
