Has anyone asked to reschedule an interview recently? My husbands case has been “ready to schedule interview” since Jan 2021 and nothing has changed although I see in my informed delivery there is a letter. I’m assuming it’s going to be an interview letter. We are booked to travel back to Egypt in 2 weeks. I had a feeling this was going to happen. Do they reschedule without problems or is it better to change our flights.

update…it is a 24 month extension letter. His green card expired in April of 2020 and got an 18 month extension letter. That expired in Oct so he got an extension stamp in his passport in Oct and now this came. Honestly I’m glad it was this because we didn’t want to postpone our trip. We haven’t been back in 4 yrs.

My wife's 18 months extension letter is  expiring next month, should I call USCIS for infopass appointment or wait for the new extension letter(24 month). We are planning to travel overseas in the end of Dec-21. side note my case status as of right now is "case is ready for interview to schedule". If somebody can help me which number to call for infopass and what to tell the agent?

I am in the same situation. My husband’s 18 month extension letter also expires in Oct and we are planning on traveling to Egypt in Jan. I called the USCIS on Friday and was on hold for 70 minutes! The guy I talked to said he has to give it to a tier 2 person and they will call me back in up to 2 weeks. That person is the one who will schedule you an infopass appointment. I also got an email from them confirming and the email says if it’s not an emergency it can take up to a month for a call back. The number for USCIS to call is 1 (800) 375-5283. Hope that helps!

  4. My husband’s 18 month extension letter is going to expire in October. He has had the “Ready to Schedule Interview” message since Jan 13th. What happens when Oct comes and they haven’t scheduled an interview yet? How can he show he is here legally with everything expired? Also, we need to travel to see his family in Jan. Would he be able to do that if he got the I-551 stamp if nothing has changed yet? Is that safe to use to re enter the US? One more thing, he is and has been eligible to apply for his citizenship. We were waiting for the green card but is it a good idea just to do it now? This has been a very frustrating long process

We live in MN and my husband’s field office is Minneapolis too. They are referring to their extension letter. My husband’s green card expired in April 2020 and was sent an 18 month extension letter for the green card. My husband’s extension letter will expire in October. He got the “ Ready to schedule interview” back in Feb. and since then nothing has moved. We want to go to Egypt to visit his family in Jan but wondering after the extension letter expires in Oct what do they do then? I’ve heard about getting a stamp in in his passport but don’t know what that is. If anyone knows that would be a great help.

*** I looked it up and it’s called a I551 stamp and you can make an info pass appt to get one if you need to travel.

Wisconsin here also! Other end of the state so my husbands field office is Minneapolis 😒. It is unnerving for sure. We see no reason for denial but would like to just get it over with and not sit around and wait. The only good thing about covid is we haven’t been able to travel so he never got the passport stamp which I believe is what you are referring about expiring soon? I think you can just get another one.

I have not heard anything since May 2019.  I did receive a 1 year stamp this past November.  If the ultimate goal is citizenship, then it may be best to file as soon as he is eligible.  I applied for citizenship in June 2020.

Oh wow ok. Yeah we will just go forward and apply for citizenship for him then. Thanks for the info

I’ve been waiting since May 5 2020. I’ll be getting my passport stamped on Tuesday for a one year extension.

im also MSC but in Philadelphia.

So, you got this notification in May and are still waiting? Wow! My husband has his 18 month extension letter that will expire in Oct. but is eligible to file for citizenship at the end of this month. So, you think we should just file it? Thanks 😊

Identification for what? It depends on where you need to identify yourself

Egov.uscis.gov that’s where i check my case status on. You can get your US ID (driving license) as soon as you get your first green card. Egyptian passport you can renew from your nearest Egyptian consulate office. I think it’s only useful if you wanna travel overseas (I’m not sure)

It says on the letter for the biometrics people applying for naturalization need only to show their green card all others need to show either passport, national id, state id, etc. at the appointment. He hasn’t gotten his drivers license here yet...(yeah I know I’ve been telling him he needs to do that) and his Egyptian passport has been delayed because they’re slow. They actually send the paperwork from the consulate in Chicago to Egypt and Egypt sends the passport back here. And, I’m sure covid has delayed everything longer. He wasn’t even planning on renewing his Egyptian passport and just waiting to get his American one when he became a citizen. We won’t travel to Egypt until then.

  10. Hello everyone!
We filed my husband’s I-751 in Jan 2020. He got his extension letter in April. We hadn’t heard anything about biometrics until his letter came today. It will be in the middle of November. My question is what site do you check your cases on? He has the USCIS app and he also checks the website. There is still no update on there and we only got the letter. Also, my husband only has his green card as an ID. His Egyptian passport expired but he does have his Egyptian ID card which is still valid. Are these permitted documents as identification?

Thanks for any and all answers

I wish there was some kind of logic to how they process cases. 24 April 2020 filer and no updates. Not even biometrics letter. I wonder if those of us who were hit by that period when no extension letters were sent out have been forgotten...

We are in the same situation. Filed in April and received the extension letter but nothing since. No biometrics, nothing. 😏

I saw a lot people had their previous biometrics applied. I think because they got biometrics taken in the US through K1 visas process. I wonder if CR1 visas had biometrics taken in the visa interviews at their home country's US consulates? If so would those biometrics also be applied too?  Thanks.

Wondering the same thing. My husband came on a CR-1. He got his extension letter in April. Nothing has happened since. I’m assuming because of covid. So, I’m sure he will have to do his biometrics and have an interview but who knows when. He will be applying for citizenship in Jan so hopefully it’ll all be merged together and be done.

For mine, they used the delivery date as priority date. Did you file G1145 form with I-751?

Yeah I did. Mine was delivered on a Sat and Monday was a holiday so I am wondering if they’ll use the sat date or Tue when they were open as a date. No text, email or check cashed yet. In a way I hope it comes back so I can add more proofs like pictures before I send it back again. I also wonder how long it takes for them to send it back...stressful 😫

  14. Hi Everyone!
So it was our time to file the I-75. My husbands green card expires on April 20th. I sent the papers in on Jan 15th and it was delivered to the PO BOX in Phoenix by USPS on a sat Jan 18th. That following Monday was MLK Day so now I’m wondering what date are they going to use as the received date? Sat or Tue when the post office would be open again. I’m worried that if they go by the 18th date it will be considered early and they’ll send it back to me. And if they do does anyone know how long that takes? We haven’t gotten any notice and the check hasn’t been cashed. I guess a good thing if it does get sent back is that I can include some more documents and pictures.
