  1. As others stated, I got my letter the same day.

The local paperwork took some work.  We had to do a marriage application and wait a week after approval before we could get married.   You may want to research this to see if it's the same in your locality.  My wife did most of this so I can't give many details.  She's a smart cookie. ^_^

They kept making errors on our marriage certificate so double and triple check yours!  Afterwards, it takes a while to change your name since local has to submit it to the NSO before you're able to do so.  Then you must request a new passport before submitting anything to USCIS.

CR1 will have probably taken us a year to get and we were lucky with the petition getting approved so quickly.  Saying that, if we had to do it again then we would probably choose CR1 again.  It was a great experience to see how processes work in PH and meet her family.  Plus I really like siaopao. :D

Good luck!  Both of you will have to do a lot of work to make it happen.

NVC was closed yesterday due to snowstorm, therefore also hard to get through today since "everyone" is trying to get through. Looks like there will be another snowstorm on Monday and maybe they will be closed then as well. Too bad for all of us - like we need more things to slow this down:-(

Yep, I tried calling earlier a few times but just got a busy signal.

Yes.  We have the 3 N/A's. Hopefully you'll hear something this week.  Your scan date is 3 days after ours.

Thank you Naji for letting me know.  I really do appreciate it!  I'm glad the NVC is starting to clear December cases :)

  5. Congrats Samuel!

I have a question.  Me and the wife are on week 8.  I know everyone is experiencing long wait times.  I was hoping her arrival would be sooner to help look after my father, of course with her agreement and limitations, who's been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer almost a year ago.

Sooner than later, I may start burning through my leave time at work.  Is it worth looking into expediting?

I am glad you created this thread. My cousin's scan date is December 8th (She is not on VisaJourney) and is still waiting for a Case Complete.

Has anyone had case complete from December ?

I was looking at a lot of members timelines this past weekend and I don't think NVC has ever taken this long to complete cases . Usually it is around 6 weeks . I don't know whats going on . Good Luck to everyone.

My Scan Date is January 18th :(

I think I saw one but it must have either been a fluke or expedited some how.  I noticed on the Feb thread that scan dates at the end of November are starting to come through.

It was not fun. She blamed herself (We sent in a "short form" birth certificate instead of a "long form") for not realizing we needed the longer birth certificate. Honestly the website hides in about 3 clicks deep, and the "short form" is the standard in the UK so even her parents didn't know a "long form" existed.

I've asked multiple people at the NVC if it is possible to get a second checklist from other documents and they have told me repeatedly that all of our other documents are complete and all they need is the birth certificate. I honestly would not be able to handle another round of this.

Well the second part is very good news but the wait penalty is a bit harsh.  I certainly wish the workflow was a bit better.  I'll keep my fingers crossed for us.

My wife is having a hard time as well. She left her job over the summer (THere was a merger and it was either try to fight for a job in London or take redundancy, and fighting for a job in London made no sense since she wasn't sticking around), so she has been struggling to keep herself busy waiting. She can't really look for jobs yet, and you can only update your CV so much. She is volunteering now to kill time, but it is still hard. With our original scan date she should have been here in December, then we got a stupid checklist and here we are. Looking more and more like an April interview.

Similar situation with my wife as well.  I'm sure getting a check list was dreading.  I can only imagine how to break that news :ranting:
