Hi,

I have a question about filling out i-684. How do we have to fill out the part about Country of domicline, when my husband lives in the US and is a US citizen? Do we have to leave it with N/A or just fill out USA?

Yes, but they can only approve it over the phone once you receive your welcome letter from the NVC. Until then, you're not in their system. 

This sounds about right. I just didn't get it when I talked on the phone with this lady, because she said it might be up to 4 weeks. I hope I'll get this letter faster than that!

Hi all,

I have a question about the timing of filing out DS-261. Two days ago we got a number NVC assigned and today I had available DS-261 to fill out. I did that. Now how long do I need to wait to pay the fees? Because I called and a lady told me to wait for the instructions up to 4 weeks, but I've been reading that it is possible to be earlier.

It could be because they couldn't order a Tax transcript for the year 2016 at the time of application. And maybe they didn't have their w2s for the year 2016 yet. If this is the case, and this is the only thing missing from your file, the NVC will most likely let you bring your W2 to the interview instead of having to resubmit to the NVC.. This seems to be the case for others.  If you sort the NVC Case Status Spread Sheet -  2017  by column "z" (you'll see, No - I am bringing my missing/corrected documents to the interview."). Instructions on how to sort the spreadsheet are in the "blue tab" on the spreadsheet.

Hi all,

I have a question. I see a lot of people receiving checklists with a request for w-2. I read that you can submit only tax transcript return that was ordered from IRS.

Is it necessary to send the w-2 forms as well?
