That is absolutely what I am going to do. I wouldn't risk my permanent residence based on an unsure answer especially from USCIS. But that doesn't mean I won't complain about driving 5 hours to be told that it was a glitch/error... 😆 I am just going to make the most of it by visiting Trader Joe's while we are there lol... I will post here to let you know what happens!

So.. I turned up for my appointment FULLY expecting to be told that there was no appointment and that I had basically wasted my time, fuel, a day of work, etc. I went in, handed over my paperwork, and got given a number. Then went to the next agent who appeared to check me off a list of appointments. My picture and fingerprints were taken at around 10:10am and by 3pm my case was updated.

So, my advice to all of you: feel free to call and ask, but you probably won't get a straight answer. Feel free to take a copy of the letter, and send the letter back with your own (again, copy it) letter stating that you already have your 10 year GC. But if you do that then you should expect another appointment to be given to you.

It is inconvenient, and kinda crappy to have to go all that way with the potential of being told that it was a pointless trip; but wouldn't you rather be certain?

I promised I would share my experience, so there it is. I strongly suggest you go to the appointment as scheduled - it really may just be that they need updated fingerprints. With COVID-19 it may just be that they are taking fingerprints retroactively because the offices were closed and they didn't want to delay approvals for those who had previous biometrics. Who knows..

    Hi everyone

just wondering if anyone else still waiting for their biometrics updates? we submited in May, WAC center. And still no biometrics updated so far.

Also, tried to call USCIS today and there was just no way we can be transferred to speak to a real officer. anyone has any clues how to get the automated agent to transfer us to speak with a real agent/officer?

    Thank you

Try stating "schedule infopass" and wait until AFTER she says that she can get that scheduled for you. She will then transfer you. Hope this helps!

This is my advice to those who are scheduled for bio appointment after receiving their green cards. Attend if you can, to avoid had I known and to clear up things face to face at your appointment venue. If it’s not needed, fine. It could be the previous that was used wasn’t confirmed and they want to capture another fingerprint or it was sent in error. Pls go in person and find out.

I had the exact same thing happened to me - (received biometric notice after approval and 10 yr GC in hand). I was able to reach an agent when i called using the "infopass" trick. And now i have a call back scheduled from a Tier 2 agent on what to do. What did you end up doing?

    Ridiculous isn't it!

My appointment is 12/10. The Tier 2 agent who called me was rude and wouldn't explain anything. He even said "I have other calls to get to" weeeell, you're dealing with mine right now so.. 🤷🏻‍♀️

He basically told me that he can't tell me not to go. He can't tell me whether or not it is a glitch in the system. He said that I could send back the letter I got (after copying it) and write a letter with it stating that I have received my GC already and am I required to go to the appointment. He said that it could be that they need to update my biometrics (but why would they do that after the fact...? 🤔) - and I decided that there was no point wasting time mailimg anything back to them because by the time they even thought about responding the appointment would have already come and gone. So I am driving a 5 hour round trip to probably just be told that it was a glitch. What else can I do :(

USCIS has changed their call system so that you just go round and round in circles with the robot and never get to speak to a representative.

I received a Biometrics appointment letter yesterday AFTER having received my GC about 6 weeks ago. My case status updated with my previous biometrics having been used so why on EARTH would I have to go and have another appointment after my case has already been approved??

Does anyone have any tips for getting through to a representative? I feel like I would have to say some ridiculously complicated phrase or question for the bot to ever transfer me to someone, but even then it just assumes I want my case status 🤦🏻‍♀️

OK I finally got through. A reddit post had somebody suggesting that you state "schedule infopass" and you will be put through to an agent. I tried it and it worked! I spoke to an agent immediately.

The agent said that the appointment notice may be a mistake but a higher level agent will call me back to confirm either way. Sooo if you receive a Biometrics appointment letter after you have already received your 10 year permanent resident card; call USCIS, ask to schedule infopass (I would avoid adding the word "appointment" because she might pick up on just that word and send you in spirals again), and then repeat schedule infopass if she asks again. Then you will get to speak to a human, huzzah!

Anyone else still waiting to hear about Biometrics that filed towards the end of May?  Our case status is still showing "Case Received" and we're approaching 90 days since filed / over a month since NOA - with no biometrics:

    Texas Service Center

    May 28, 2020 - Filed

July 13, 2020 - NOA (Dated July 1 on the letter, received on the 13th)

I filed at the beginning of May and have heard nothing about Biometrics.. 🤷🏻‍♀️

They told me to call back after 30 days from when I submitted my inquiry which will be July 15  before they will even talk to me. I am going to cross my fingers mine gets reprinted like the first one told me :(

When I called yesterday they told me that my letter had been sent on Monday - my card expired on July 2nd, and my service request was answered on June 18th. Hopefully your letter was mailed around the same time - I don't know why they wouldn't just tell you on the phone.. it is right there in front of them. Perhaps call today and get somebody different? That's what I did.

    HI,

Same here, I'm filling my I-751 this month, my green card will expire on  August 03. I'm just wondering if you are still waiting for you extension letter and the green card expired, can you still working?

    Thank you!

Yes - you are still legally able to work. E-verify will show you as a legal permanent resident, so whether you have a "valid" (non-expired) green card, you are still a permanent resident. The only thing you might have issues with is if your driver's license expires on the same day as your green card. You cannot get a new driver's license without a valid green card, I551 stamp, or the I-797C.

Egg he same happen to me,my GC expire in 2 weeks and i was asked to bring a letter from my employer ,i keep a seal lip as i am not going to tell my employer but if they find out then i will ask for the letter

I did exactly the same thing and yesterday they emailed me asking for a copy of my emplyment auth/GC so I sent them my current one and said that I am waiting on the letter in the mail, but that if they use E-Verify then it will show that I am still a permanent resident. The lady I spoke to said that all was fine as long as she had that copy of the card, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the same happens for you!

I admit I was a little abrasive with the person I spoke to but when they tell you the exact opposite to what somebody else told you and it screws you over, it's kinda hard not to feel your head explode.

I told my boss today and she was pretty good about it. I work from home every other day right now because of the virus, but because of my DL expiring today I will work from home full time until I get this stupid letter 🙄

Currently impatiently waiting for the mail to arrive because we didn't get an email from informed delivery!

  11. Well today is the last day of my GC being valid. I called USCIS to make an appointment to have a stamp put in my passport, like I was told to by the tier 2 officer I spoke to 2 weeks ago. Lo and behold, they won't give me one because my card and driver's license expiring are not considered an emergency. The only thing considered an emergency is if I will lose my job because of it. So here I sit with no letter, no extension, an expired GC as of tomorrow, and no answers. Why would a tier 2 officer tell me to call and make an appointment knowing full well that I won't get one? I mean really..

    Hi all,

received I797/NOA today, here's my timeline:

May 12: I751 received at Texas Lockbox
May 15: received text message with receipt number LIN, if NOA is not received by June 11....

June 11: E-mailed lockbox and put in an online SR, received e-mail confirmation of SR, no response from lockbox.

June 15, June 19, June 22: e-mailed lockbox, no response

June 24: SR was assigned and immediately resolved,
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) records indicate your Receipt Notice was mailed to the address on file and the notice was not returned as undeliverable by the United States Postal Service (USPS).  We have requested the notice be sent to the address listed in our systems. You should receive it within 10-14 business days.

June 29: received NOA in mail.

I have so far not received anything about my biometrics although many filers have received notice they will re-use their old one,

maybe it's me but it seems that LIN is slower with that than others?

I don't get how those with receipt dates and service request/response dates after mine are receiving their NOA before me. Apparently mine was sent out on June 18th. My GC expires in 2 days and I still haven't received that piece of paper.

  13. Those of you still waiting for your NOA, especially those whose cards expire in the next 2-3 weeks, make sure you have emailed the lockbox at least once (go for twice, I did!) And put in an online service request before and AS WELL AS calling. Seems my persistence paid off. I got the following email today. Notice it doesn't state how long the letter will take - I am just hoping that it will take a week or 10 days max...

    20200618_173528.jpg

  14. I called USCIS this morning. My service request FINALLY got assigned to an officer (how convenient). The first person I spoke to was very sweet and helpful. i told her that I had emailed the lockbox twice, and put in a service request, both with no response (it was her who told me the request had been assigned. She had had problems seeing any of my paperwork/info, which I suspect was down to the assignee being in my account). She said that I should get a response within 30 days. I asked how that helps me when my card expires in 2 weeks. She stated that I am still a lawful permanent resident even after it expires, I just don't have the proof without the I-797C receipt letter.

She transferred me to a tier 2 officer and I got a call back within 25 minutes. He was stand-offish and kept talking over me. HE told me that I should wait 2 weeks and if I still don't receive the notice, then make an appointment to have my passport stamped. I said... my GC will have expired in 2 weeks... and he said that unless I have a letter from my employer stating that they are going to lay me off without that proof, I cannot get an emergency appointment. So apparently having an expired GC isn't emergency enough 🤔

I also asked him if they could email me a copy of the I-797C. He said that yes they would email me - trying to skirt around the real question. But he did say that they would email me in the next couple of days. So I asked again, will they send me a copy of the I-797C in an email. He said YES they will attach the I-797C to the email.

Now.. I am pretty sure that this is total BS.. but.. who knows. Maybe the virus has changed all the rules..

He also said that no letters had been sent out to anyone, because the offices have been closed. So... how did they cash our checks so fast, hm? As you can tell I don't have a lot of patience for USCIS. Every step has been similar to this and it just stresses me out. How messing with peoples lives like that can be ethical is beyond me..
