hey guys,
I am a little stuck with the AOS. My Dad is my joint sponsor but he filed his taxes jointly with my mom together, his income alone is more than enough so do i have to get the i-864A for my mother or can i just leave that out? Especially confused because for part 6 question 3 i added her in because she is listed in the household members from part 5 question 3. Any help/ info would be awesome:)
hello, we were in the similar situation. we had our husband's brother as our joint sponsor. he got married last year and filed the 2016 tax jointly with his wife. we had him filled out the i864 form, signed and dated. i brought his i864, both his and his wife's w2, their 1040 form(tax return), and a photocopy of his passport biological page.
you want your dad to fill out the i864 form without having your mother filling out the i864A, so just put N/A or none on part 6 #3-14. and for part 5 #3, put 1, because even though you are not using her income, she still has to be included in the household size.
feel free to private message me if you need your info, just had my interview yesterday and dealt with the exact same problem. good luck!

Joint Sponsor was Single ( only I-864 ) or Married ( I- 864 & I- 864A) ?
joint sponsor got married recently and filed 2016 tax jointly with his wife, but his own income can already meet the poverty guideline, so he is the sole joint sponsor, and i only brought his i864, their 2016 1040 form, his and his wife's w2, and a photocopy of his passport biological page.

Scan date means the date of NVC received our package is that true I don't know so I hope you don't mind making things clear,n dear what is cc
scan date is the date nvc scans your documents into their system, so when you call and ask if they received your docs or not, they would tell you "yes we received it on xx/xx" that date would be your scan date. cc means case complete, aka nvc is done reviewing your docs and passing your case onto the consulate.

My husband called to NVC n they said that they have received my package but no update in software, how long I need to wait to get respond from NVC that our case is ready it's been a month no any update..thank you for responding
the status would remain as "submit documents to the nvc" until your case is completed, once you got your cc, the status will be updated to "at nvc". so 9-11 weeks after your scan date, you should expect to get your cc and to see the status been updated to "at nvc".

hi Oliva, you have to call the nvc to confirm on whether they have received your iv and civil documents or not. the date they gave you would be your scan date. good luck!

hello guys, i just had my ir1/cr1 visa interview today (June, 12th, 2017, Taipei, Taiwan) and had my visa approved, I would like to share my experience before and during the interview.
BEFORE THE INTERVIEW.
1. Background: when we sent in all the iv and financial documents to the nvc, we made sure to have an exact original copy of what we sent in, in the order as how we sent in as well. It certainly made things much easier when it comes to organizing documents to bring to the interview.
My scan date was March 2nd, 2017, got an email on May 11th from the NVC regarding a checklist item (financial documents) for me to bring to the interview with. On May 13th, i received email from NVC that informed me of the interview date scheduled in Taiwan. And again on May 25th, i received another confirmation email from the AIT (consulate in Taiwan) about the interview date and what to bring.
2. organizing documents:
i put all the documents in such order:
1) Appointment letter & DS260 confirmation page
2) Passport, 2 color photos(5cm X 5cm), and a copy of passport biological page
3) Birth Certificate, Hu-kou(近六個月內戶口名簿詳細記事), Police certificate
4) Original marriage certificate and a photocopy
5) Petitioner's documents (photocopies of passport biological page, driver's license, and birth certificate)
6) The exact original copy of I864 and the original copies of all the financial docs we submitted to the NVC
7) UPDATED I864 (signed and dated), most recent 1040 form and w2, and updated bank account documents. when we submitted our docs to the nvc, my husband hadn't filed 2016 tax yet, so when i went to the interview in june, i made sure to bring the most recent year of tax docs and updated i864 along with me.
8) joint sponsor i864, most recent 3 years of 1040 forms and W2s. we didnt submit joint sponsor information to the nvc originally because we have sufficient bank savings to reach the poverty line limit. We got a checklist regarding this because the nvc doesnt have the power to decide on this, hence I brought joint sponsor docs with me just in case. It turned out to be a right choice because the counter clerk was suddenly so happy when she knew i have a joint sponsor.
9) Evidence of relationship. flight tickets, photos, letters, etc.
10) SEALED medical exam result. i went to 馬偕, took exactly 2 weeks for the result to come out. Make sure you book in advance if you choose to go to 馬偕.
3. Register for courier service on AIT website and print out the confirmation page.
DURING THE INTERVIEW
my interview was schedule on June 12th, 2017, at 9:20 am. I arrived 30 mins earlier. make sure to bring as few electronic devices as possible, no phones or any electronic devices are allowed. I have to leave my phone and a photo id at the entrance. dont arrive earlier than 30 mins, then only let you in 30 mins prior to the scheduled time.
go to first floor, non immigrant visa and immigrant visa are all processed at the same place. there were 3 steps:
1) Document take in, i was at counter #8, the lady would slightly sort the docs you bring and give you back things they dont need. then you wait aside.
2) Finger print. i was called by my name to counter #5, another lady asked me to scan my fingerprint, sorted my docs more, and asked some questions regarding the relationship and marriage, but mostly about the financial stuff like do i have a job, how do i support myself, what's my husband doing, she didnt seem satisfied with just my husband's income (which did not meet the poverty line) and the bank savings we originally submitted to the nvc, although it's significantly enough. that's when i told her i have a joint sponsor and she was suddenly all lightened up LOL This part felt like an interview already, in fact, it's more difficult than the actual interview i had with the officer lol
3) i waited aside again after the lady told me i was all set. then an officer called me to counter #15 for the actual interview. He was a lovely and smiley gentleman. I raised my right hand to swear everything was correct and right. scan fingerprint again. He then asked me some more questions, mostly regarding the relationship and the encounters between my husband and i; when and how we met, how many times have i visited him, about first time we met, have we met each other's family, where am i staying after i move there, when do i plan to fly to the US. after all the questions, he said i'm all set and that my visa is approved.
i was in the AIT for 1.5 hours. The process was smooth and easy if you get all the docs organized and ready to pull out anything they ask for. Please feel free to comment or private message me anytime regarding any questions you might have. may everyone has a smooth and speedy process.

congratulations.. please my case was completed on the 17th of April and I want to know how long it will take for me to get my interview date and how I will go about my documents arrangements... thnk you
every country is a little different, when you will get your interview date depends on how busy the embassy is. for every photocopied documents you submitted to nvc, you have to bring the original copies to the interview with you. and for financial documents like proof of asset, you have to bring updated versions. every embassy requests different things, i would suggest you to check the website of the US embassy in your country to make sure you dont miss any documents. call them and ask if you can get your medical examination done now or do you have to wait until you get interview letter email to do so. good luck!

I have 2 questions
When a person get a checklist it mean they will get another scanned date which will be the new one?
after they received the checklist how do do they have to wait? 30-60 days like USCIS?
1. there are two types of checklist. 1) they ask you to bring the checklist items to the interview. in that case it wont delay your process. 2) they ask you to send them checklist items to them(the nvc), in this case, it will delay your process because you have to wait for another 9-11 weeks.
2. every time you send in new information/documents to the nvc, the clock will restart, so after you send in the checklist items, you will have to wait for another 11 weeks, which sucks so badly
good luck to you.

Hey all,
On 4/7/17 NVC received my DS-260 and on 4/11/2017 I mailed my AOS and other docs. I forgot to send in some civil docs which I finally send and NVC confirmed they received it on 5/4/17.
My question is do I have to wait for 11 weeks from 4/11 or 5/4?
Also, anyone here can share the approximate time it has taken NVC to complete a case (CC) once NVC has the DS-260 and all forms? Thanks!!
it usually takes 9-11 weeks now. for most of people i saw here it takes around 10 weeks. and your scan date should be May 4th. so wait til the 8 or 9 week mark and then start calling them every day. good luck.

OH! That's great to know. I've understood from talking to the NVC that anyone that is using assets gets that letter/checklist. Because it's not the NVC to decide if we qualify, it's our embassy.. I too will bring a joint sponsor application to my interview. This way if they do ask, i'll have it, if not, great. I've read both cases where some embassies required a joint-sponsor whereas others not.
Can you please update your questionnaire? I've added some new questions.
Thank you,
JBMG
yeah i think we received the same checklist content. good luck to you on the rest of the visa journey. i updated the questionnaire just now! thank you for putting in so much time to make the tracking easier for everyone.

If NVC requests additional documents will it take them another 11 weeks to review them?
there are two kinds of checklist. 1) you have to send in the checklist items to the nvc and wait anther 11 weeks, 2) your case is completed but you get a checklist for minor things, and they ask you to just bring the requested documents to the interview, so you dont have to wait another 11 weeks.
