amoooooor got a reaction from JBMG in Case Complete to Interview September 2017
    Hi!
My husband (the beneficiary) received a call from the US Embassy in Doha yesterday telling him to bring in a few documents ahead of time. They requested the original and copy of the police clearance, his birth certificate, our marriage certificate along with the medical report. Is this normal for them to request it in advance? The embassy appointment isn't until the 19th. They also sent us an email confirming the same request.

Meanwhile, please keep up your strong/positive support here as well. Let me know the day you run out of "likes". You're limited to giving only 50 likes a day.. I'm already out..

So it's a new start and we hope to start a family via surrogacy and or adoption if all works well.  Thank you so much for your kind words. Very touching. Also I wish you the best. The NVC seems to be processing faster.. I'll be sending you positive energy/vibes in hopes you get that CC ASAP. ;) hugs sweetie! Please keep up the great work on the forum. ;) Love your energy and support you give our VJ community.

    Thank you!! :)
    Thank you!! :)
Thank you!! :) Will try my best. ;)
    Thank you!! :)
    Thank you!! :)

Thank you everyone again for all of your support. Being a part of this community has kept me busy and made the entire process a lot easier.. I remember when I started this journey a year ago, I was so overwhelmed and was stressed out about it all.. But I wasn't active at all on the forum until reaching the NVC stage..  We were all at a lost, not understanding a thing on how the NVC processed our cases..

What I've learned by creating the spreadsheet....

Using a lawyer does NOT mean you're safe from receiving a checklist. Nor does it allow you to process your case faster.
CC's timing is based on the country where you come from.. Even though the NVC tells us "they're processed in the order they're received".. YEAH but not everyone is trained to review every country or the language.. So this is why that logic is misleading...
There is no such thing as "under review".. Well maybe there is but there is no average waiting time when you reach that department..
When you start to detest the NVC hold music, you have done one of 2 things if not both...Been on hold too long or have called too many times.. hahahah
Getting a checklist SUCKS!! Out of 254 cases on our spreadsheet, 70 cases received a checklist which delayed their case.. HOPEFULLY your info will continue to prevent future NVC filers from having one.. People have already posted on the forum stating they made corrections to their files based on the checklist feedback!! @trininurse, please keep tagging people onto your forum to share stories about their checklists.. Thank you to all those that received a checklist for all of your contribution.

    THANK YOU!!!!!!!
I thank you all for all of your contribution and the creators of VJ!! Without all of us working together, we couldn't have learned what we have learned.. We would have been lost and even more frustrated with the process.. And alone.. It's been so nice to have a community to come to share this experience with. Even though we come from so many countries and visa types, we're a little bee colony working together to reach one goal!! GET THE VISA!!! So that we can be reunited with our loved ones, return home, work in the US and/or start a new life. Keep working away everyone helping newbies and supporting one another through the difficult/good times.. I'll stay around as long as I can and I hope everyone else does too!! Now it's time to dance!!! (oops, out of emojis- only 75 allowed)
BIG HUGZ!!! Wishing everyone GREAT LUCK!!!!

    Thanks for the info!
No, I didn't receive this or any checklist and I didn't use a joint sponsor so I'm hoping that we are ok? I don't know if I should just have my mom fill out an AOS just in case...? Can she do that? Like my husband could just take it with him in case they needed more? We have assets in the states plus income from a rental property so it seemed like it would be enough according to the poverty guidelines but I don't really want to risk it if it's something that we can prepare for ahead of time.
JUST GOT OUR P4 LETTER IN EMAIL!!!!

    Interview set for September 19th!!!!!!

FINALLY.... it's been a journey but there's finally a light at the end of the tunnel!!

Hi, I thought it was 3x the amount, but the IO (immigration officer) interviewing us said "the requirement is actually higher if you're not working in the US" but he didn't know what that figure was and said he'll calculate it later, and if there is a problem, then he'll be in contact with the next steps.... Not wanting to risk having to delay the process/ submit more paperwork, I just gave him my joint-sponsor's AOS form.. Unfortunately the computers were down so we didn't experience all the "typing" that so many people have mentioned in their interviews...  This is probably why he said "will calculate later" as he knew he couldn't complete our file at the moment..

When I got the following checklist, which from my understanding is a standard one everyone receives if using assets.. I didn't think anything of it.. When i called the NVC to get my interview date, they told me that I received a checklist but it's ok, you can have a joint sponsor, can have several, Just need to bring the AOS forms to the interview..  I explained, but wait, I thought i did qualify, it's over 3x more... She said, well no, it's actually more.. Saying 5x more.. So if your assets are valued 5x more, you should be fine. If not, would def suggest bringing a back up joint sponsor just in case....

Did you receive the following checklist? This is the one I received.

    INSTRUCTIONS FOR: JB

     ______F - FINANCIAL EVIDENCE:______________________________________
We reviewed the Affidavit of Support (Form I-864) and financial evidence you sent to the National Visa
Center (NVC). According to the current poverty guidelines for a household of your size, the income you
listed does not meet the minimum requirement to sponsor the intending immigrant(s) on this petition. If
you provided NVC with proof of assets in lieu of income in order to meet the minimum income
threshold, please note these assets will not be evaluated by NVC and will only be considered at the time
    of the visa interview.
NVC will continue working on your case and will schedule a visa interview appointment overseas. If
you have not included evidence of your assets in your submission to NVC, please make sure that you
bring the evidence to the interview appointment. If you do not have proof of assets to meet the
minimum income requirement, we recommend that you seek a joint financial sponsor or a household
member to join you in financially supporting these immigrant family members.
If you choose to add joint sponsors or household members, please have them complete the appropriate
Affidavit of Support form and give it to the visa applicant to submit at their visa interview, along with
supporting financial evidence such as IRS tax returns. Do not send these documents to NVC. During
the visa interview a consular officer will review any proof of assets that you submitted and any
    additional sponsorship documents.

Finally wrote my interview. I saw that the July and August Forum are close but I found this one....

http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/view-dos-cis-reviews.php?entry=22277 (This is the link)  Hopefully this helps those who have interviews schedule in Dominican Republic.

My husband Stepson and I all arrived at the Embassy around 6am. Our interview was at 7am. There were already a lot of people there. My husband's uncle dropped us off at the front since there is no parking at the embassy. There are parking areas a little bit east of the Embassy. Cellphones are not allowed at the embassy so we wrote down phone numbers we would need at the end. Since we had a minor child with us we were placed in a line that would go inside first. We first had to do a security search at the first building. They make you remove everything out of your pocket and you also need to take your watches off. After the security check was complete, we were instructed to proceed to another building.

I checked the time entering the 2nd building. It was 6:45am. My husband stood in another line while I sat down. When he was called we all proceeded to a window where a lady reviewed all the papers that were sent from NVC. She first asked for both appointment letters. She then asked for the sealed medical records, police record, original birth certificate, original marriage certificate, and passport from my husband. She asked if I was the petitioner and I said yes. For my stepson she asked for his passport, medical records and and original birth certificate. She handed both my husband and I both a pamphlet about domestic violence. She stapled #107 to both appointment letters then we sat back down and waited again. At this time is it about 7:25 AM.

Once we sat down we patiently waited as numbers were being displayed at different window. When our number was called my heart jump. The interview was done by a man. I first swore my husband in. He asked the following questions.

    What is your name?
    How did you meet?
    When did you get married?
So you got married on (date)? - No that is the date we met....(trick question)
So you met and got married right away? Tell me more about the relationship?

Question for me: What made you attracted to him? I answered
He asked me to elaborate more since we had only met in person and married 2 months after.
I told him in English and I am in love with him and that I love his sense of humor. I then elaborated that in 2016 we both lost our moms within 6 months of each other and during the entire time we were supportive of each other. He said sorry about that and the questions ended. He made my husband place his right had on a fingerprint scanner and then he finally said the magic words.....Congratulations your visas are approved.

I was so relieved when I heard those words. By around 8:15 we were out of the embassy. Outside there were a lot of people waiting. My advise is not to go too early because during the day they don't even let you wait right outside the embassy. There were people with 9 and 9:30 appointments all the way down the street waiting. I guess they do that for security but it was alittle bit crazy. On the corner there are people with flip phones where you can make a phone call and they just ask you for a tip.

The whole process was very organized and since I sent so many proof to NVC. I did not have to show them proof of anything during the interview. We had chosen to have the passport picked up at the office where the fingerprints were done and in 2 days the passports were ready to go.

What does your CC email say? Mine says this:

The embassy may require additional documents at the interview. For example, if the following three items are all
true, the applicant must bring a new police certificate to the visa interview:
He or she is more than 16 years old; The police certificate submitted to NVC was obtained more than one year ago; and He or she still lives in the country that issued the certificate. I guess it's valid for 1 year.

    @JBMG
First of all... A HUGE CONGRATS!! What great news, we are all so happy for you as you have been nothing but a godsend to all of us!

I have a question for you regarding the financial situation.
Do you know the requirements if you are using assets vs. using income?
I am the petitioner and working in Qatar right now but obviously will be moving back to the states once the immigration is complete... so we just used assets on our documents.
The NVC approved without having a joint sponsor so now I'm nervous if the Embassy will make an issue out of it or not...
Do you know the calculation for the amount you should have in assets?

Wow. So beautiful to see so many of you wishing us good luck today. Thank you so much because it worked. :-) they only asked

    "Are you the petitioner" Yes
"Are you living together in France" yes. His response, ok wow.
"Where will you live in.the US.
    Answered
    "What is your financial situation"
    Explained.
He then said to use assets the requirement is much more when you don't have a job.
So I asked, maybe it's 5 times more, he said, I don't know but there is a calculation, I will do it later. If all is well, the passport will arrive in 10 days.
Then we said, we have a joint sponsor if needed, julien clarified that yeah, we have her paperwork.
So then he took it, said. "That's great, no need to calculate now. All is good. Having problems with the computers so you should receive your passport with the visa in 10 business days. Enjoy moving back to the US. :-)

So yay, we're finished!!! Thank you everyone for all of your support. Heading home tonight, will be back online tomorrow to give a better review. Thanks again everyone for your well wishes. Really made me smile.

    Have a nice day.

Thanks! I hope you find out soon, I know the wait is hard! Depends on the embassy, too. Yesterday I called around 4-5 PM EST and it still wasn't scheduled, but the rep I talked to this morning told me it was scheduled yesterday. So it could be anytime now

Thank you @RamStu your shirt worked for me! After a little wait of 10 minutes I could get an interview confirmation by phone yayyyyy!!!! September 19th is the lucky day! Since my son's case was expedited his file will be forwarded straight to the consulate and they told me to schedule his appointment directly with them so it can be on the same date as mine, now I'll just wait for the P4 letter so I can schedule medical and biometrics for us! I can't with this excitement it's been a long long journey!!!!!

call call and call nothing else works. we have to ring the bell in order for them to open the door. it may work without ringing but better to ring as you never know if there are any issues. It would take a lot of time to get email or letter.

I applied through DS-260, I didn't go to the SSN office. My POE is May 30th, and I got my SSN June 6th
usually they said u wait 2 weeks after ur POE, if no news, then contact them
also, it depends on how fast the custom past ur document to SSN office

Hi everyone, congratulations to everyone, is so good to see this much approvals, seems like nvc is starting this month schedules with the right foot! I just received great news! My son's case has been accepted for expedite! Our first scan date was back in march and due to a checklist of missing financial evidence (that they lost) he had a second scan date of June 21st. My case was completed since May 18 but I couldn't go further until my son's case was finished. Now I'm stuck on the phone trying to reach nvc to hear what they have to tell me 😄 I'm positive right now, and hoping for then best!
