    Recieved Green card and Booked a trip to Mexico!???

    Well, Alaska and Hawaii are among the 50 States of the United States, so that's not a valid argument. But the advice is correct anyway. He needs his passport and his Green Card and he will have to show both several times during the trip. Been there, done that.

    Now, if you guys plan on visiting the BVI, which is a cool 1-hour boat trip from St. Thomas, he'll need a visa as an Algerian citizen.

    I actually emailed CBP the other day and they responded the same thing. We're not going to the BVI -- too much hassle to get a visa - not to mention I am SURE we will have plenty to do in the UVI's!!

    Recieved Green card and Booked a trip to Mexico!???

    OK - So my husband and I are in the same boat. We have a trip planned to the US Virgin Islands. I am 99.99% sure all he needs is his green card and valid passport, however, I cant get a confirmation.

    My husband is a citizen of Algeria and as stated above a conditional green card holder. Can anyone confirm whether or not #1 he needs a visa to get into the US Virgin Islands and #2 if he can return to Chicago with just his green card and valid Algerian passport.

    I have been searching the net for some type of confirmation and cant find anything that fits this exact situation.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!!

    I think I just got an e-update and texts for our interview for 10 March, except it says it's at the NBC? lol Bloody well better not be!

    "On February 1, 2011, we mailed you an appointment notice for an interview for March 10, 2011, at NATIONAL BENEFITS CENTER. Please follow the instructions on the notice."

    I believe that means they physically approved it at the NBC rather than your interview will be at the NBC. When you receive the notice it will tell you where, when and what time your interview will be.

    My EAD just arrived. Just in time for me to show it to the IO in New Orleans tomorrow at my AOS interview.

    Marvellous!

    My husbands EAD came in the mail today as well --- too bad its no longer valid as we are now waiting on the GC. Also, everyday and I mean EVERY day since our interview my husbands AOS case has been touched (received txt messages). We received the official Welcome Letter saturday and today another touch --- I'm assuming it's the card being mailed out? It makes no sense really :wacko:

    My husband was asked what I would think the routine questions that you would expect to be asked at an immigration interview. Pretty much the same questions as in the K1 interview, however, you should know its not only the beneficiary who is being asked questions to -- the USC will aslo be asked questions.

    If you dont recall what was asked in your K1 or CR1 interview send me a pm and I will give you some more details.

    I think that there is something wrong with the notification/update system at USCIS.

    I just got another email saying that my EAD is now in Card Production as of today, but I already got an email saying that it was in Card Production on January 21st.

    I think what we see on the USCIS website and emails needs to be "taken with a pinch of salt" - I had no updates or touches on my EAD application, or my AOS, but I've been for biometrics and have an interview scheduled.

    Yep - so did I. Even more interesting is my husbands GC was approved yesterday so why the need to touch the EAD today? Bizarre

    Just to let everyone know, we had our interview and everything went soooooooo well. My husband and son were making fun of me because I should have brought a wheelbarrow with me to carry all the paperwork I brought. (ok it was only the stuff that they had on the check list, but I had envelopes for my son as well as mine)

    I am sooo happy :dance:

    CONGRATS!!! My husband and I had our interview today as well and it was EXCELLENT. We too also had a HUGE binder of everything and anything we could possibly need and really didnt need it!! One good thing though, we submitted an original marriage certificate with the I485 (only because we had an extra) and it was not in our file so we had our certified copy to make the file complete. Not too sure what they did with it because everything else was there -- who knows?

    Anyway -- CONGRATS!!!

    in Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from K1 and K3 Family Based Visas

    Hello everyone,

    I am a little worried. Valentina and I were married on Dec 3rd, we filed for AOS on Dec 15th. Now I want to put her on my bank account. Our problem now is we cannot get a state id or drivers license because her I94 in her passport has expired. I thought that since we are adjusting status and have the NOA paperwork we could get her state id and add her to my bank account but no luck with anything. I was told I would have to wait until she gets her green card but if we cannot have a joint account then we might problems at the interview. Any ideas?

    Not sure what part of the country you are from, however, TCF Bank allows you to have an account and put your spouse on it without their ss#. They can mark it "ss# applied for".

    Maybe something like this would work for you guys?

    Received interview notice in the mail today for February 1st. Didnt get an email or any touches on my case since 12/03/10. Preparing now and hoping for the best. Good luck to all.

    Good Luck!! I think you're the only other couple at this point from November (other than my husband and I) who have received the interview date. Have you received anything at all on your EAD and AP? We were really hoping to get the AP in our hands so we can take a quick cruise before he has to start working ..... sighhhhhhhh and crossing fingers!!

    Merry Christmas Everyone!

    So - on the 23rd on the way out the door we grabbed the mail and found our interview appointment letter from USCIS. No touches - No EAD or Advanced Parole yet. My husband did a walk in for his biometrics on December 10th (was scheduled for December 16th) -- our interview is January 25, 2011!!

    I hope everyone is enjoying the holidays with their families!!!
