  1. Hey that's a little progress!!!

We had the home investigation in June and here we are in November still with no visa. I don't know how the time lines are for anyone else, but that is where we are right now. We have heard nothing else since that visit and call to Samy in June. :(

Hope your case moves quickly now. (F)

  2. Hi everyone,

We have been in this process forever waiting in Administrative processing since my husbands interview at the Cairo Embassy in 02/2007.

Anyway this is my problem and question. I did not go ahead and file the I-130 as we were waiting for him to get here and do AOS. Now I have gotten a letter from the NVC stating that now that it has been over a year since we filed this that the visa application is going to become invalid/expire. I have been in contact with the NVC weekly about our case and the case # that they have on this letter. What is the situation with this and what are my options here? :help::help:

  3. One of my dishes that I am bringing for Thanksgiving feast is Cheesecake sopapillas

2 cans of Pillsbury Crescent dinner rolls

    2 pkgs cream cheese

    1 cup sugar

    1 tsp vanilla

1/2 cup butter or margarine melted

1/2 cup cinammon/sugar blend about 1 TBSP cinammon to 1/2 cup sugar - more or less as you like.

Using a 9 x 13 baking pan, unroll one package of refrigerated crescent rolls and line the bottom of the pan.

    Flatten.

Mix together the cream cheese (softened), sugar and extract.

    Spread over the crescent rolls.

Unroll the other can of crescent rolls and place on top of cream cheese mixture.

Pour one stick of melted butter or margarine over the top and sprinkle with about 1/2 cup of the cinnamon sugar mixture.

Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

This is so easy and melts in your mouth delicious.

    Happy Turkey Day!!

  4. I've been calling the DOS weekly now for sometime. The answer that I always got was that we were still in Administrative Processing and we have to just wait. The man that called me from the DOS said our papers were at Homeland Security. He said this is not the DOS and I should just keep calling the DOS weekly.

Same here :( . DOS told me that our papers were at Immigration (Homeland Security) and that we were in Administrative Processing and we just have to wait until they're finished with that and they'll send the case back to the Embassy. And then the Embassy will decide whether to issue the visa or not.

I decided to limit my calls to DOS (i used to call every week) and emails to the Embassy to only once a month. It's just too depressing :crying: (I always call hopeful for them to say that our case has been sent to the embassy for final steps, but I always get the same response).

Anyway, I hope everyone's cases get cleared up soon.

    Hugs,

    Ayesha (F)

I just talked to DOS today about our case. I was told that they have finished their part in DOS quite some time ago ( he wouldn't give exact dates) and that our case is back in Cairo for them to finish up. That is scary. Why are they waiting? I can't imagine what else they would be checking since home investigation and all other checks appear to be done.

So I'm right along with you hoping that all these cases hanging for so long will be cleared soon.:wacko:

  5. Tamara,

    (F) So sorry for all this waiting and mess for the two of you. Waiting here and not being able to do anything in this situation has got to be maddening, especially when it sounds like you are close to getting the visa once you have the MC. Hang in there!! We are all learning big lesson in patience and strength through this whole process.

Best wishes to you and Adam. (L)

  6. Hi Cherie,

I think I talked you when you were a new member here and I am so glad to hear that you had a wonderful trip. Good luck with your journey!!!! (F)

    Becky

    Amrssnowangel,

I may be traveling at that time, but I am coming from Dallas and don't know if I will be coming through New York. I don't have things finalized yet, just in the planning stages. If it would work out I would love to travel there with you, but will be staying with my husband once there. There might be someone else looking to share room and board, but I would be a good travel buddy getting there!!! :)

  7. :help: I have a question How can I let who is ever working on our case in Cairo, know that I will be there for 5 weeks with my husband? I emailed them to ask for a interview knowing that i would never get one. But I just want them to know that I will be with my husband. I just think it would do our case good. Dose anyone have any good ideas? :help:

    Hi Cheryl,

I have just sent off an email about our case to try and get an appointment scheduled for sometime in January since I hope to visit then if Sam doesn't have his visa. Before sending the email I tried lots of numbers to the embassy and got no one to answer if we could even get an appointment. I feel like you do that letting them know I will be there, and if we could possibly see someone about our case and present more evidence will certainly not hurt.

Whether a response is given............we will see. So far the last two emails I have sent to them have not been responded to at all. IMO letting them know that visits are happening should help something!!!!:wacko:

  8. I am having a very hard emotional day with on and off crying and feelings of depression. The depression is better than the anxiety I had yesterday.

Please pray for my Husband and I. We need all the prayers we can get.

    :crying: Olivia (F)

Olivia I hope you feel better. I just came from the doctors and got Xanax and Wellbutrin. I poped a Xanax as soon as I got home and now I think I will call it ( I dont give a f**k about anything pill) I sure feel better now

Today is my day off. So I'm spending it online with my hubby. Dread going to work tomarrow. It is getting cold out so I'm makeing a big pot of chili (yummy) Hope you all are doing fine. And are enjoying the day!

Maybe I should get some of those don't care about anything pills. (L)

  9. But they look at education, employment, ect???? My SO has a communications Engineering degree but currently hasn't been able to find work in Egypt.

we really thought this process wouldn't take so long so we decided for him to stop looking till he got here...but..now we are wondering about that. But he didn't have to do military time, doesn't have a high risk education factor, never traveled out of Egypt, and has no work history to raise a red flag over. So should his background check go faster? (As far as the name check/background check) Not sure how "common" his name is though. Seems all names are common but the order in which they use them differs. with a last name like Abd El Magid is that likely to be very common???

What are what they call high risk education factors? My fiancee is an attorney, is this considered a factor?

I think typically a high risk employment or military record is any that they feel could be a national security risk. Chemist, nuclear physisist (???), arms handler, someone maybe that flew or knows how to fly, certain engineers, anyone that could be trained for terroristic acts or commit crimes against the country with their knowledge. I seriously doubt a lawyer would fit into that.

We have been in AP for 8+ months now. I had visited two times before the interview. Sam's interview date was 02/05/07 and I arrived for a third visit on 02/25/07. He took confirmation papers for the upcoming visit to the interview to show to the CO.

You know Becky..I fullly thought you'd have your visa by now after ALL this time..especially after that home visit. I sort of thought that was the end of the wait for you. Is your case at DOS? Did it complete the security checks?

Did they do the home visit first THEN send for security checks??? Maybe it took a while first to get the home visit....THEN have it sent off. That would bite.

The security checks were completed after the home visit and have been finished definitely since the end of August. If you would have asked me six months ago if I thought Sam would be here by now, I would have said definitely....we should be finished with AP and he is here in US and working on AOS and EAD here in US, but here we are still in AP.:wacko:

  10. If we are approved AT the interview...does that mean we are APPROVED pending the AP?

Interestingly enough, they told Ramy he was approved at the interview, but when I called DOS they said he was in AR and "nothing is approved till he has that visa in his hand ma'am"

    (ok, whatever.)

I'll still say I think the time we were together affected how long we waited for the visa. Maybe even the fact that we didn't meet on the internet.

I spent time with my husband twice and then went with him for the interview. We were also told the day of the interview he was approved and it would take 6 weeks to process his visa. Yeah....WHATEVER!!!! There are also many that don't meet online and the AP still lasts forever. I do know that christian men have MUCH shorter AP than a muslim man. I really don't think anyone can or will ever know how long AP will last. Egypt is a very busy place and unless things have changed since Feb 2006....VERY unorganized. I felt like I was in a rat race the day I was there! And there were soooooo many people there from surrounding countries that were there for interviews too.

This is not necessarily true. Our AP is now at eight months and my husband is Christian.
