We just got married in LA County on Friday and was told the same 2 to 3 months for the certified license. On what you are given after marriage ceremony ends it not only says License but also Certificate.

The exact words on the document are "License and Certificate of Marriage".

With that in mind and reading how others in LA County have been approved with just this document without getting an RFE. As others have said I'm not going to wait 3 months especially when we need EAD/AP. If we get a RFE then so be it but at least will have AP/EAD in advance. Just wanted to let you know you are not alone.

Thats great news! So that does mean EAD/AP will process regardless of the RFE? Poor hubby being home all day getting so bored and he needs to be updated in the Tech field for future work haha

    Thank you! :)

Have you tried to pick it up in person? here in florida they give you it right away if you go in person instead waiting for it to be mailed!

I was calling to see if I can go in person but they told me itll be useless since it has yet to be recorded. Married in LA county and currently based in SF which is a pretty tough trip hehe I would though if they do that!

  3. Save yourself some extra cash and use that towards the application fees, Lawyer is not necessary, don't mention any other unauthorized work history.

Just enter their legal working information on the G-325A. You would still need to submit a copy for the Beneficiary and another one for the Petitioner. :)

  4. I know there were previous posts about this topic but these were back in 2008 - 2014. Figured we needed an update on processes since times may have changed.

I got married in LA and was told I would get my Certified Marriage Certificate in 6-8 weeks through the mail. I live in SF btw.

    I was wondering if:

    1. Anyone experienced submitting a photocopy of the "Customer Copy" of license and marriage certificate that was received the day of the wedding, for Adjustment of Status requirement. How was it?

    2. When submitting, was your EAD/AP affected in the RFE? (If was requested for one)

  5. Thank you! This is the only post where I have found a case similar to mine. Suppose to have culture results next week but we just received a call that we have to wait for another week for his results. The waiting is agonizing! Anyone has any updated experiences? Were now on our 8th week.

  6. Im sorry if this may seem repetitive but for Affidavit of Support Form I-134 for the new 8 page ( Expires 11/30/2018)

Part 1 Number 12. I am ___ years of age and have resided in the United States since _____.

I moved to the US after birth so around 1991 (born in Japan since dad was stationed there at the time.)

Left to the Philippines for school in 2003 and returned to the US permanently in 2015.

I wrote a letter to attach to the I-134 explaining my situation but I just want to make sure is it okay if I put my recent permanent return of 9/2015 as the "... resided in the United States since 9/2/2015."?

Or do I stick with the 1991?

    Thanks!

AP is just a generic form of "additional work needs to be done". It could be a missing/incorrect form from the interview, additional information needed, further consular review needed, background checks, new medical needed / awaiting further results, etc. Pretty much anything after the interview means AP. It could be the embassy needs more special ink to print the visas. It's a normal process in most circumstances and not something to be worried about if it happens to you. It can take days (usually), weeks (sometimes), months (rarely), or years (very rarely).

Right on! Thanks for the response!
