Are you a dual national? Were you born in another country?
The username Sali89 is most likely her name, and that's an Arabic name, so with the username and the English, I am willing to bet she is a dual citizen of a middle eastern country, and going into a very long AP is a thing (I waited 7 months for mine to clear).

No, you have to wait for the ACTUAL GC in order to file for a SSN. What visa did you come on? Gosh man, I am trying to help you out some but getting information is like pulling teeth from you.
I mentioned it above in my first reply to you, I came here on a K-1 visa, didn't apply for work authorization or advanced parole (long story). I got my green card case approved a few days ago and I am waiting for the notice. Sorry, I am not trying to withhold any information, my apologies.

What I was trying to figure out if you were back in your home country and got approved for a green card or here in the USA? That is why I said I needed more clarification on it.
No, in the US.

Are you in the US now???
Yes, and well I need to be in the US anyway to be interviewed for the SSN as I am over 12.

What I am asking is if you are already in the USA now under the K1 visa, did you get married and file the AOS?
Does AOS mean something other than adjustment of status? Because I did mention that I got my green card case approved and I am waiting for the approval notice.

K-1, and no I never got the work authorization, so can't use that.

A few days ago my case got approved, and I am poised to receive the approval notice, so my question is it possible to use that notice to get myself SSN to speed things up? Or I do have to wait for the card itself before I can do that?
-
Good point! I'll do that, thanks!

So my wife and I moved to my mother-in-law's house a few days ago to live there rent-free. My mother-in-law doesn't live at the house, she lives in another state. We are going to live there as much as we want. So we thought of writing a letter that will be signed by mother-in-law, so my question do you have any idea what sort of information we need to include in this letter? I mean definitely, the location, when we moved in, expected time we are going to stay there, that we are not paying rent, but anything else that is crucial? Like who else lives in the house? Where exactly my mother-in-law lives? etc...

Congratulation Again!!! Now when you check the ceac.state.gov for status- what it shows "Ready"? Anyway now it's done. Have a good time and pray for us.
Thanks, but no it is still showing Administrative Processing.

Any update, Did you receive any email from the embassy that your AP is done ? Anything?
They called, just a new medical and I can get my visa anytime I want.
-
Yes - As you know Medical is Valid for Six months- If it's valid no need to do a new one- and your passport is with you or embassy- If with embassy they will email you and process your visa.
No, I have the passport. They gave it to me at the end of the interview.
-
May be today or tomorrow you get an email. Usually the next day you get an email that your AP is over and ask you for Medical and Dropoff. But which Embassy you have applied ?
Another medical? Jeez!
I applied in Beirut.
-
Congratulation- Yes as far as I know , when Slash / changes to OR- It means AP is finished & Now it's up to Embassy- when they will email you for drop off. Would you tell me- When was your interview ? How many updates you got before it changed to OR- Thanks..
The Interview was in March, I got one update few days after the interview, one at the end of June, and three in the last two weeks, the last being today.
But do you have an idea how long will it take? a day or two, or a week or two?
-
Is this true? And If so, how much more time before they contact me?
-
No that has not been confirmed that if we check the status via ceas, the last updated status gets updated
I check it on a daily basis more or less, it never gets updated. Only three times in the last 7 months.
-
If I exclude updates after my own inquries then ceac updated 11 times of it's own. Still on AP mode and it has been nearly 9 months..
Inquiries such as?
-
Usually after 4-updates or 6 - updates - and your sentence in ceac changes to from Slash / OR - It means your AP over.
Slash or? what do you mean?
-
Today for the third time I noticed that the Status Update Date on CEAC has changed into this day, so I am wondering if others have monitored the number of times the status was updated before finally being released from AP.
-
Let me repeat my question since the thread got sidetracked:
Case in administrative processing, recently there was a new update on CEAC, the date on Status Update Date changed but it remains in administrative processing, any idea what this means?

I never paid real attention to the date, but I think this is the second time it changes.
Can you apply for SSN with your green card approval letter?
in Social Security Numbers

Alright, thank you.
