  1. The administration's record in making its case for Iraq has also been cited by critics of Bush's get-tough policy on Iran. They accuse Bush of overstating the potential threat of Iran's nuclear program in order to justify the possible use of force.

This is why I cringe whenever someone mentions attacking Iran.

  2. Yes, BO's safety is probably of concern, just like any powerful person and maybe a little more so because he is black. Although George Bush and Hillary Clinton seem far more hated in the current environment. I'm concerned for their safety too, whatever my disagreements with them might be.

I think you would not have been "lambasted" Steve if you hadn't said so in the context of a discussion of "hillary as VP," or mentioned again in a thread about "hillary supporters." It strikes me as negative, a little disingenuous and slightly hysterical.

...a mixture of lack of sleep, euphoria, relief, anxiety, and a chocolate chip cookie high.

    What would Stewy say? :P

    VICTORY IS MINE!

  3. As an LPR are you not required to carry proof of your legl status at ALL times?

How is asking to see ID (not sure how TX IDs are but in AZ they verify legal status (LPR/Citizen) before issuing an ID) before renting an apartment/house/dwelling to someone not allowed?! I would want to know who I am renting to...

As for the disease, I am almost certain not allowing them to rent a place to live (place to shower/shave/etc) would actually go along way to the ultimate goal of self deporting those here not legally (from ANY country)...I don't know any (and there can't be many) that do not require proper hygiene and after a couple weeks of stinkiness they'd surely be fired and not likely to find another job.

So yes let them live here as homeless jobless people if they so desire....or they can go home, where ever that may be.

  4. eekes you still dont look at the fact that in 1996 the CIA (dont know if you know who that is) had a sniper with bin laden's head in the cross hairs. Clinton told them not to take the shot. it could have all ended back then. but i dont expect you to know the history of that because you are a bush hater. so i rest my case on the al quada with you

    Calling you on this...source please.

I mean calling a fact you SHOULD have a source, correct?

  5. The Children's Defense Fund is a far-left group. McCain voted against the child health care bill because it raised the qualifying income to households making less than $62,000 a year. Do we really want to subsidize health care with taxpayer dollars to other than low income people? Our country is 9 trillion dollars in debt and we can not afford to pay for healthcare for everyone. It's a great idea in a Utopian World. The problem is that Liberals are headless hearts. They think they can solve all problems by the expansion of government which means higher taxes for all and will ruin our economy. Think twice before you blindly vote for Barack Obama.

biggest problem here in the US is that healthcare is all about the $$$ and little to do with actual care

  6. I have challenged you to find an article that writes glowing reviews about Sen. McCain... I'll be standing by...
I think in Gary's mind if he slams Obama enough everyone will (blindly) flock to McCain.
Are you sure he won't be satisfied if people simply eschew Oblahma? Mission of getting McLame elected can be achieved by reducing the electorate for Oblahma (and by extension total electorate).

Darn my tired brain...that actually makes more sense /smacks self

NEW YORK (AP) - A Canadian research group concludes reports of an increase in terrorist violence around the world have been distorted by the high number of civilian casualties in Iraq.

The Human Security Brief 2007 says that without the figures from Iraq, fatalities from terrorism have declined by some 40% since 2001.

The study by the Human Security Report Project analyzed and compared data from three major U.S. government-funded terrorism research institutions.

Its data showed that global terrorism fatalities between 1998 and 2006 peaked in 2001 with the 9/11 attacks. The data found it then declined until the 2003 invasion of Iraq, and then rose steadily over the next three years.

Omitting Iraq, the study shows a sharp decline after the peak in 2001 and then holding relatively steady.

  8. Michael Savage endorses that company.

Just as Laura Schlessinger Endorsed the Ionic Breeze - AKA a piece of $hit.

 I'd pick a big left leaning talk show as an example, but they're aren't any.

Maybe I should dis on Greenpeace for such a terrible showing in NASCAR.

 Why would you do that?

I generally take it for granted that its not just celebrities of a particular political persuasion who endorse ####### products. Those are just two that I happen to be aware of.

But thanks for playing the "sides" game.

    Always up for a game.

Being honest I'll throw 2 of the guys I listen to under the bus. Rusty and Savage both advertise for Direct Buy. From what I can tell DB isn't a very good deal. Memberships for $100s or $1000s per year and a high pressure sales pitch.

    I recommend Costco. Word!!

Olga and I went to Direct Buy for their introduction, the showroom is nice but unless you are willing to cough up a MINIMUM of $1000, they won't tell you specifics...I'll stick with Home Depot or Lowes...thanks.

  9. As I said all along...this is a societal and cultural issue, not a constitutional or civil rights issue some make it out to be. Homosexuality is not illegal and they are free to be homosexual. However, the issue is that they want the state seal of approval and societal acceptance that marriage conveys. The courts should not be legislating from the bench or imposing societal norms on society at large. That's the way I see it.

No it's not...it's equal protection under the law. Either the state of California discontinues recognizing marriage between two people or it allows any two adults to marry...simple as that.

They could change it to reflect the original intention of marriage, a union between an unmarried man and an unmarried woman.

You can try to take the religion out of marriage but then don't you actually loose the spirit of marriage and it merely becomes a legal contract?

I mean weren't marriages first religious then civil?

I suppose they could also define marriage as union between two ivory colored people also. By what standard shall we exclude the right to and still satisfy our Constitutional Rights?

that suppose to be funny, Steven? I asked you a similar question (Where do you draw the line) and your response was merely where you don't want to draw the line...so where do you?

Brothers and sisters allowed to wed? aunts and nephews? why can Warren Jeffs (for example) not have 12 wives, individually he and each wife are merely 2 people that (it seems by your definition) should be allowed to marry.

Another question that came to me while reading the recent replies, what if a gay/lesbian couple want a catholic wedding and are denied based on that religions view of homosexuality, in our sue for everything culture would they not then be allowed to sue the catholic church for denying them their "right" to be married?

I personally believe marriage = 1 unmarried man and 1 unmarried (and unrelated) woman, I do base my definition on the ability to procreate naturally, ignoring desire and fertility.

I also believe that homosexuals should be allowed to enjoy the benefits of having a long-term relationship and perhaps there should be a civil union allowed (I'd be ok with that as well) but to call it marriage imho is not acceptable. And isn't that what we are calling it?

Let me remind you of the thread you are in:

Calif. Supreme Court rejects gay marriage ban

  11. I want to know what tests we should use to make a relationship/"marriage" legitimate?

Steven and everyone saying bravo for civil rights, what about the rights of the polygamist? why should he/she not have the right to multiple spouses?

Incest, why can't first cousins have the right to live happily ever after together?

whose rights do we legitimize and whose do we condemn?

I know where I stand on this issue but I am curious where others who support this ruling have decided to set their limits.

  12. OTTAWA (AFP) - Tickets, check. Passports, check. Luggage, check. Baby ... oops.

A family boarded a flight on Monday in westernmost Canada, and forgot their tot at the Vancouver international airport, media said Tuesday.

The 23-month-old boy's family had just arrived in Canada from the Philippines, but they were forced to repack their overweight bags before catching a connecting flight to Winnipeg, causing them to run late.

In their sprint to the gate, the family became separated.

The boy's father Jun Parreno, told local media he had thought his son was with his wife and the boy's grandparents, who ran ahead. They thought the boy was with his dad.

On the plane, the family members were seated separately and so did not immediately realize they had left the child behind.

Sometime later, a security guard found the boy, who speaks no English, wandering near the departure gate, and Air Canada officials tracked down his shocked parents on the flight.

Because the boy was so young, he was not issued a boarding pass and would have sat on a parent's lap during the flight, so airline personnel did not notice a passenger was missing.

According to the Vancouver Sun, airport security found a Tagalog-speaking Air Canada agent who looked after the child while his father flew 2,300 kilometers (1,400 miles) back to Vancouver to pick him up and then return to Winnipeg to rejoin the immigrant family on their first day in Canada.

The baby was kept in Air Canada's offices and staff found him some toys, said local media.

"Air Canada took good care of him," Parreno told the daily Winnipeg Free Press upon arrival. "I'm grateful."

  13. HOLYHEAD, Wales - A man who dressed up as Darth Vader, wearing a garbage bag for a cape, and assaulted the founders of a group calling itself the Jedi church was given a suspended sentence Tuesday.

Arwel Wynne Hughes, 27, attacked Jedi church founder Barney Jones — aka Master Jonba Hehol — with a metal crutch, hitting him on the head, prosecutors told Holyhead Magistrates' Court.

He also whacked Jones' 18-year-old cousin, Michael Jones — known as Master Mormi Hehol — bruising his thigh in the March 25 incident, prosecutors said.

The two cousins and Barney Jones' brother, Daniel, set up the Church of Jediism, Anglesey order, last year. Jedi is the faith followed by some of the central characters in the "Star Wars" films.

The group, which claims about 30 members, says on its Web site that it uses "insight and knowledge" from the films as "a guide to living a better and more worthwhile life."

"We all love the films and what they stand for. Obviously some people are going to laugh about it," the Wales on Sunday newspaper quoted Barney Jones as saying last month. "But a lot of people do take it seriously."

Unfortunately for Hughes, his March attack was recorded on a video camera that the cousins had set up to film themselves in a light saber battle.

"Darth Vader! Jedis!" Hughes shouted as he approached.

Hughes claimed he couldn't remember the incident, having drunk the better part of a 2 1/2-gallon (10-liter) box of wine beforehand.

"He knows his behavior was wrong and didn't want it to happen but he has no recollection of it," said Hughes' lawyer, Frances Jones.

District Judge Andrew Shaw sentenced Hughes to two months in jail but suspended the sentence for one year. He also ordered Hughes to pay $195 to each of his victims and $117 in court costs.

In the 2001 United Kingdom census, 390,000 — 0.7 percent of the population — listed Jedi as their religion.
