  1. Now I don't know about this club but the clubs I worked at in the past (I was a DJ at several strip bars here in Tucson in the early 90s =) had dancers as "Independant Contractors", meaning the girls only worked for themselves, not the club....I think this was a way around providing such basics as a 1) a wage and 2) insurance/worker's comp.

  2. Olga and I watched it, I had seen bits and pieces of it in the past but when we watched it together, I think we were both left thinking "WHAT THE?!??"

    :ot:

Olga likes the movie Constantine and before the movie is an ad for another movie based on a story written by Mr. #######, we recently found it and bought it, it was a very strange movie but that one made sense!

EDIT: added based on a story

    :ot2:

  3. Wendy's is much better in Canada

Wendy's is ok down here but I prefer Carl's Jr or In & Out but I guess those are only available in California :P

Carl's Jr and Hardees are the same restaurant but with different names depending on the market.

    mmm, i didn't know that...

I just learned it a couple months ago myself. If you look at the logos they have the same star.

    HardeesNew_4color.gif

    carlsjr_logo.gif

You only learned this a couple months ago?

I was stunned when I learned in 2000 during my last visit to Kansas, we had 2 Hardee's in Manhattan (not sure if they are both still there as it has been a few years since my last visit)...I got a "Hardee's" Happy star! We have Carl's Jr. here in Tucson!

Also just and FYI...Tucson opened it's first In and out a few months ago! I still need to go try it though =(

  4. Go to Wendy's. Much better fast food. IMHO. They are fast and rarely mess up my order.

Sevral years ago, I worked for McDonald's and eventually worked my way into Management. During a corporate management training class we were to eat lunch at 3 different fast food places, our group found Wendy's to be the best for quality of food, the service was robotic but not bad! Incidentally, our experience with McDonald's (we had to eat at a McDonald's also) was, sadly, the worst!

    EDIT: correcting spelling >(

  5. Because of this, what's written in the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights does extend only to U.S. citizens and Permanent Residents. Anyone else (including those who're here illegally), are not covered.

Oh I so wish that was true, even illegals can get Due Process and have the right against unjustified search and siezure, imagine if this were the case, the spanish speakers would be claiming racism or harrassment and that they are being singled out...wait almost like the muslims and the people that appear to be from the Middle East...

That Canadian comes to mind

  6. Olga wanted me to hire a lawyer to help but the best I could find was $1800 and having read over the K-1 info here on VJ I felt I could do this easily (and so far so good!), I did tell her if something came up where we needed one I would find one...that never happened =)

  7. Amazing :o What does she do, file bankruptcy?

    Bankruptcy doesn't cover legal judgements...

Also I think it is BS that they (the music industry) claims they loose money from record sales, how do they know that someone who downloads 1 song would spend the money on a whole CD for JUST the one song?!

Before I used Sony's Connect to buy individual songs for $0.99 I did download a few songs but rarely would I have spent the money on the entire CD for that ONE song, either because I didn't have the money for an entire CD or I didn't like the one song enough to justify buying the whole CD... either way, without downloading I would have gone without.

    no I don't work for sony =P

  8. Many of you should know I work at a casino and last night was a concert I was happy to attend as in 4 years (5 in May 2008) working there it was the first concert I was really hoping to go see from the time I heard about it!!!!

Queensryche, Alice Cooper and Heaven and Hell.

Queensryche has been one of my favorite bands since I first saw them in 1991...back in my concert (read:wild) days :)

Earlier this week the C.E.O. announced that the casino would give employees tickets to any or all of 4 "events" in the near future so of course I jumped on it...

Anyway we stayed for Queensryche, whom only did 1 song I had not heard before...and one I had not heard THEM (They did Welcome to the Machine originally by Pink Floyd!!!!) perform. I was kind of sad it was only an hour but they were the opening act

After Queensryche we went inside and ate and as we left I heard Alice Cooper singing his song, Only Women Bleed (one of my favs by him! )

So Olga has now been to her first American Rock Concert, now she wants to see Gwen Stephani on Oct. 29,I do too but I have to work that night and it is nearly impossible to get a Monday off. >(

  9. go to jail over having a flag of his choice on hos property..i think some people like anyone mexican to wear a snake and eagle on a cactus patch on the outside of their clothes..sad

no no no, he is more then welcome to fly the mexican flag but not on the same flag pole as the American flag...see my previous posts...

  10. I think it transpired in the original report that, according to the law, you can't fly any flag over the American flag. What makes that so hard to understand?

Oh man, why do they have to tempt me into civil disobedience by making up stupid laws that in the final analysis, mean nothing? Now I really really want to fly the German flag above the American flag, just to piss them off.

Maybe I Should send out a bulletin to anyone looking to commit real crime and let them know when I plan to fly the US flag under another flag, so they can plan their crime to coincide with mine, when all the cops will be busy doing "important" work.

but is it a crime or not? the ACLU released:

"The ACLU of Nevada is concerned about recent media reports that it is “illegal†to fly foreign flags over the U.S. flag.

While there is indeed a federal law regulating the display of the U.S. flag, that law is merely advisory and simply codifies standard government practice in displaying the American flag.

Several federal courts have examined this law and held that the flag rules are not mandatory and cannot be enforced. Indeed, if the federal flag rules were mandatory, they would clearly violate the First Amendment, which protects every American’s right to speak and express themselves, including their choice of flag to display.

In 1989, the Supreme Court held that we even have the right to burn our own flag, which had been outlawed by 48 states. Our robust and meaningful democracy is built upon our First Amendment, which protects our right to express ourselves even when - indeed, particularly when - that expression is distasteful or unpopular."

    ---

the funniest thing is that all the pro-this arsehole are talking about illegals and invasion, when the owner of the restaurant is a darned USC!! #######.. just shows that ignorance attracts more ignorance.. I really hope they press chargers against that fool..

Welcome to this time yesterday, I pointed out that it is not ILLEGAL but it is considered disrespectful to fly ANY flag above the US Flag while on US soil.

  11. Some of the apartment complexes and used car lots in Houston don't even look like they are located in the USA. LoL

    How's that for assimilation!

There have been a few times where I have taken Olga a different way and I see a Mexican flag flying on a house or business, haven't figured out which it is yet...also one of our hotels (clarion, I believe) has a Mexican flag flying above it...this one is just up the street from Olga's English class.

  12. The arrests break up families and create an unfair and inaccurate impression of the immigrant community, which is by and large law-abiding, said Reshma Shamasunder, director of the California Immigrant Policy Center. Enforcement actions also cause fear in immigrant neighborhoods and families that may include U.S. citizens.

Had to know someone would say it

I dunno this seems like a reasonable operation, they are going after the truely criminal illegal aliens. to ICE

  13. So why has he not been given the option to pay his fines as dictated BY LAW and take the rest of the money, if there is any, and leave the country?

because, as someone pointed out earlier in this thread, he is also guilty of smuggling money out of the US, which by law required forfeiture of all money and property uesd to smuggle said money.

  14. Uh huh, You grouch about the (IMO appropriate) label of socialist but you don't comment on what I really said. The government of Mexico and of the rest of Latin America is responsible for their own economy, not us. We only need to do what is good for our own country just as every other country in the world does. Why should it be something we need to worry about? The bottom line is this, the gate crashers need to go home and we need to do whatever we need to do to stop more from coming in. I don't care if they are only wanting a better life. That is their countries responsibility, not ours.

Thank You! That is exeactly what it comes down to, We are not responsible for the economic problems of other nations, we should not comprise the

wellbeing, security or futire of our own people only to accomodate gate crashing lawbreaking Illegals.

They need to go back to where they came from and address thier problems within their own Govt.

Their govt. like to facilitate them illegally entering USA so these become USA's problems.

BS! If they want a better life they can go back to where they are from and make it happen. USA should not compromise our standrad of living or

put our own people in worse economical situations just to give an illegal a better Life!

We should take care of the poor in our own country, Health care should be givne to those who are legally here.

Public schools are meant for those who are LEGALLY HERE! and for kids who are sent to school by parents who only wanna collect a welfare check!

    Now it's popcorn time!!! :pop:

If your going to quote me don't change my words to meet your own pathetic distorted spewing point, which is a pathetic way of taking the focus off of the real topic, illegal criminal aliens who do nothing for this country but take from those who are entitled to social services. they compromise the security, prosparity & wellbeing of this country. those who advocate illegal immigration advocate terrorism.

oh that doesn't happen? lol.. i'm not changing your words.. i'm saying that not only illegals leech the system big time.. do USC's can do it just because they're legal?

also.. not giving a ###### is not advocating anything.. and about the terrorism.. yeah, keep watching fox news..

illegals are criminals whose first act on us soil is that of criminal defiance for the laws of USA.

The point is Illegal Aliens Should NOT be allowed to remain here just because some USC's Happen to be lazy and leach off the govt. doesn't give Illegals the right or priviliage to remain here. Again your pathetic attempt at diverting attention from the issue at hand will chnage the reality.

Their entire existance in this country is self serving, taking & draining of the resources that they are not entitled to. they enable terrorism, drug smuggling, and criminal activity. They Spew and complain about how all they want is a better life but the way they go about it is by breaking the law thne complain when we enforce our own laws.

oh yeah, i forgot that all illegal aliens are drugdealers and and criminals, oh and terrorist.. I heard they're bringin anthrax in tortillas.. also watch out with the cheese dip! it's an explosive

Not all but in the last month I have heard of 2. here's one and here's a story about another.

Ironically the first man was deported on monday and returned by Thursday... Sorry Pedroh all illegals are not innocent some are ACTUALLY bad people!

(I said SOME not ALL...though ALL have no right to be in the US)

  15. During my trip to Russia, I used russia-visa.com...it was quick and easy!

I also found a slight error with my original visa and they corrected it free of charge! (it said I was born in 1900)

Only issue I had was at migration control where the lady asked my purpose and I said tourism, see sights and what not but it came out that I was to meet Olga and she told me I got the wrong visa "wait here", at which point I thought for sure I would be on the next plane back. She found Olga then returned and let me through! That was the worst part of the trip I am happy to say and we are planning a trip in 2009. =)

  16. Last week I purchased a burger and fries at McDonalds for $3.58.>

    > The counter girl took my $4.00 and I pulled 8 cents from my pocket and> gave it to her . She stood there, holding the nickel and 3 pennies.

    > While looking at the screen on her register, I sensed her discomfort and> tried to tell her to just give me two quarters, but she hailed the

    > manager for help.

    > > While he tried to explain the transaction to her, she stood there and cried.

    > A logger cuts down a beautiful forest because he is selfish and inconsiderate and cares nothing for the habitat of animals or the preservation of our woodlands. He does this so he can make a profit of $20. What do you think of this way of making a living? Topic for class participation after answering the question: How did the birds and squirrels feel as the logger cut down their homes? (There are no wrong> answers.)
