  1. :help:

The EAD is your work permit, unless you got the stamp by going through JFK. The fee is going up to something like $320 for EAD in July but if I understand correctly, filing for AOS at that time (July) will cover AOS, EAD and AP all with the $1000+ dollar filing fee.

Yea I got my names/abbr wrong.. I need to file for the Green card and work permit... Can I file for the work permit first since the Green Card doesn't seem to be going up in fee or do I have that wrong too..

coming up with $1000 with only me working is near impossible.. the $500 plus now is hard enough but doable,..

  2. We used her passport and I-94 and Mariage Cert. and it worked fine She did mention getting the other paperwork done EAD but I told her I wasn't prepared($$$) so she said no problem... We had her card in two weeks with her new last name...

I'd go back and try to get another person..

    hi to you all!

just got back from my honeymoon in St. Thomas.

    didnt want to leave.

with all the wedding preparations going on, wasn't able to apply for my social security number the 2 weeks once i had arrived in the USA.

so i went applied the working day after our wedding.

spent 2 hrs waiting, then i was told i was suppose to have applied for my EAD.

according to the Visa Journey's flowchart i didn't needed to do that.

the lady couldn't tell me what else to do, as she had no clue.

    i need help.

    what do i do?

especially now i have a new surname.

    :help:

I would go back - apply again using your passport and I-94. I'm not certain I would attempt to get the SS Card in your new surname - just get it in the name on your passport to not add complications.

You can change the name later - but for now you just need the number.

  3. You'll never get away from the accent.. The US was built from immagration.. Even if your born in the states..most americans hear something different they want to guess where your from.. this is normal and how we are raised..we learn it from TV..our parents..

Oh are you from Texas.. Virgina ??? Ohio .?? one of the strongest I thought southern accents..Was from a person from Ohio.. I think Texans have the least southern accents.. People from the other places hear my Idaho accent. ????

No I would embrace the accent.. Leave it alone.. .. it is her hertiage.. I would only work on the sentence phasing..and American Slang..

  4. I'm 49

    Veronica is 31

When I was looking age wasn't apart of the process... it was how they looked at life..the world.. I dated a couple of women my age and I felt I was with my mom.. Sorry ladies my age.. ..I dated one that was 39 and that was closer to what I needed in my life... I wanted a fresh outlook..excitement.. I wasn't ready for the rocking chair..LOL

But saying this.. I think for me Veronica is at the limits of age gap for me personally.. Thank God she is older then me in alot of ways..

  5. I really believe certain countries are "Red Flagged" for various reasons.. and when your So's country is one of these Flagged countries.. they ask for a ungodly amount of proof..and make you jump through alot of hoops..Maybe they figure that if your SO only wants into the country they will give up early.. Who knows what goes through these monkeys heads..

Plus it sounds like your case worker..has a vendictive attitude..for whatever reason..

Whatever it is..It's not right.. to keep two lovers apart... Follow what others here have said..fight for hte love you have...and both of your future,,,

  6. I miss my wife... she misses me... hearing your wife cry on the other end of an international phone call, asking when we're going to be able to be together... and being powerless to even give a definitive answer sucks... :crying:

Yeah, I know, it'll be "worth it", blah, blah, blah... My wife is my queen, but as each day goes by, i.e. the closer we get to being together, the harder being apart each day gets... kind of like the increasing pain of birth contractions (or so I've heard).

Immigration just plain shouldn't be this long, painful, inefficient, drawn out process... what if the lawmakers had to be subjected to being away from their spouses (or mistresses) or significant others the way we are... then I'd bet we'd see some serious reform...

Yes I've also said it is harder the closer you get... I think the reason is you start to drop that wall, that barrier of protection because you are close... I started dropping mine way to early..like around the 1st of Feburary..big mistake..

You both need to be strong for the love that you have between you..for your future.. because you are past half way..because each step forward is a step closer.. also focus on the smaller steps.. and the next one..

Here are things I did to keep from going crazy... I counted days.. I hung out here.. I talked to her twice a day and yahoo cam on sundays..

Trust me I know how hard it is.. gets worse...try the last week..like i'm in now.. I tried to plan to clean one room a day in my apt. to take up some of those lonely after work nights.. but honestly I just don't feel like doing anything.. You would think I'd be happy..and I am.. but not jumping up and down just yet... that won't happen until I see her at the airport.. .. and realize she is really finally here...

Tell she has to be strong..for the love..

  7. I understand as a professional she wants people to respect her..to look up to her but she has to realize that people will pay more attention to her with the accent..with her sentence phasing.. At least with me.. when I hear a accent I'm curious.. and they will listen to her more closely..

And doesn't she realize how many young peoples minds she is opening up to the idea of foreign spouses ?

  8. Wow

I never noticed this many words she had a problem with.. LOL I'll check.. She does form her sentences funny sometimes.. Which I find very cute..

And it rubs off on me..also..

Oh I noticed early on how she answered the cell.. Hallo instead of hello ...and of course ciao when ending the call.. I find myself saying ciao too..but then bye ...So Ciao bye bye hhahahah I can't seem to stop that..

  9. Join NetFlixs and watch movies..thats what I do waiting for Veronica.. Maybe redecorate your place..Work on surprising them... A garden ? it's winter..hahhahaha.. but it is a good idea

I mention to Veronica that after a year or so she will be able to go home to visit..and she insist that she won't go unless I can too..But we all know things can change... So I keep an open mind about it..

  10. Don't worry Life has a way to pound on you a bit to make you respect the goodtimes more.. Keep the postive thoughts...there is always something postive ... In every negitive.. and when this fails.. Remember there is a plan..

  11. 1. Watch yourself eating in front of a mirror. If you're put off, that's the view your future partner will have...

    2. Live on your own. It's important that you find out what a hopeless slob you are before your beloved tells you. And then leaves you...

    3. Go out with your friends for a "quick drink" and stagger home three days later...

    4. Have a holiday romance with someone who doesn't speak a word of English. Who needs conversation?

    5. Women: Take the soft toys off your bed. Nothing turns a man off more than performing in front of an audience of beady-eyed teddies...

    6. Men: Get rid of those "How to Get Girls Even Though You're Poor and Ugly' books. They never work anyway...

    7. Gobble the last slice of pizza without having to go through the 'No you have it, no really... Are you sure you don't mind...?

    8. Walk about the house naked, without having to hold any bits in...

    9. Have friends of the opposite sex. After marriage, it's too much effort to keep saying: "No, I really don't fancy them"...

    10. Men: Enjoy that wardrobe space while you can! You will not believe the vast number of shoes that one woman needs...

    11. Women: Fill in silly magazine quizzes with titles like 'Are You Seductive', without having to listen to loud laughter from your partner (who then runs off with the magazine)...

    12. Men: Get rid of anything inflatable and female-shaped...

    13. Relish clipping your toenails straight onto the carpet...

    14. Remember that your best option with in-laws is to marry an orphan...

Gary should remember the # 10 :D:P:lol: ..joke..

    (F)

I relate to some of these...

  12. I don't think my husband even remembers that English is not my first language. I don't think he ever cared at all. We met in the US, and since we listen to the same music, like the same movies and pretty much watch the same TV shows, I think sometimes it strikes him that I was raised in a different country. Recently he pointed out that I eat "open sandwiches" - I never place a second piece of bread on top of a sandwich. I said that's how we normally do that in Russia, and he was genuinely surprized :)

Veronica served me more then once with the open sandwich.. I never thought twice about it.. I figure it was her way..I accepted it :)

Plus I never saw american type bread..not that I looked in the market..but they always used the small French Loaf type..

Also their Sausage was more like spam but not as rich..just looked like it..

Boy I'm getting hungry...I loved all the food...

  13. I have a hard time trying to say "route" like Americans do. I just sound stupid when I try, and it hurts my throat, so I just say it like I've always said it the Canadian way, (root) and people look at me like they don't know what I'm talking about.

I work at a newspaper, so the word comes up about 18 dozen times a day :P

Veronica told me once when she was first learning English your mouth hurt.. Because they use their lips and tongue more...and we use our whole mouths.. She said it was her jaw that would get tired.

  14. Veronica's english is so good..or at least I'm getting use to it.. that I forget that it isn't her native tongue let alone American Slang... Yesterday I was reminded...

She asked me what permanet meant...I think she keeps a Dictionary Close normally..

She still has a hard time saying.. "Oink" I told her I needed to clean the flat because I don't want her to think I was a "Oink Oink" (pig) ..and we started laughing because I used that term in Moldova and she had me laughing hard trying to say it.. It's cute to watch her mouth as she tries..they just use different parts of their mouths speaking then we do..

Sometimes I forget and start speaking fast.. and when I'm with her and this happens I get this "Deer in Headlight" look and the cell I can also hear/see it to... because there is a pause.. LOL

She told me yesterday... It's going to be nice out So I'll do laundry..(they hang up their wet clothes) I think they do this more to save electricity because they have one of those washer/dryers combo unit..

There are so many other things..but I think I'm starting to not notice them as much...but these are the ones that stood out yesterday..

I guess what I'm trying to get at..is be patient with your SO everything is completely differerent for them...

  15. Due to 4 trips to Vietnam last year to see my fiancee, now I just recieve my W-2 form and I made only 5500 USD in 2006 only. but I have a letter from my employer stating that I have been employed by the company for 3 year and my salary is 18/hour . so what can I do now ? should I go find a co-sponsor ? or bank statment and letter from employer are good enough ?

    Thank you

I think every consulate is different but because I didn't start working until March and took a total of 30days off to visit Veronica... I made only $12,995 on my 1040 But with my wage stubs and employment letter I actual make over $30,000 oh and I changed to the better paying job Sept 5th.. and we were approved with no problem... I did include a Explanation Letter..On why I didn't have the $13200 for 2006 that is required..

I'm pretty sure they look at the future income more.... And with a good employment letter ..I don't think you'll have a problem.. But then I was pretty close in the first place with only really working 8.5 months..

    Is a sponser a problem ???

  16. I485 $390 including biometrics

I693a free - some ungodly prices (ph around local cs in your area for a quote)

I765 if you opt not to do this she wont be able to work until she recieves the greencard (anywhere from 1 month - 5+ years) $180 if you wish her to work within 3-4 months

I131 if you opt not to do this, she wont be able to travel until she has a greencard

Dang a small bank roll is needed.. I was planing to let her go home in at least 2 years.. and yea She wants to work.. So I guess I need to get all this money together...

    So roughly:

    $325 I485

    $180 I-765

    $170 I-131

=$675 up front.. in one lump sum.. and then some little amounts during the process.. Is this correct..?

    Thanks

  17. What is the total cost to get the ball rolling for my Fiancee ?

I see I need to use the

    I-485 $325

    G-325A no cost

I-693 She just had a K-1 Exam.. Do we need if so what ? Cost ?

    I-864 No Cost..

I-765 If we opt not to do this how soon can she work "roughly" 3-4 months ?

I-131 $170 If we opt not to do this ..How soon can she legally travel.. and can we file this later if we need it ..

It's all about cost...money..etc.., With getting her here..and then the Wedding.. Well Money has become alittle tight

    Thanks In Advance...

  18. I trim and pluck. Plucking hurt the first time or two but eventually you stop feeling it.
