  1. usually from my what ive seen a CO will usually just ask 3 or 4 questions which are very basic , and theres a fast approved but just from what i seen

    K1 are hard in Ghana.

OP didn't specify how much facetime his fiancee and he spent together. They have a large age gap with her being older and she is likely beyond having more children. The CO kept asking about a spouse when there is no spouse. The OP hasn't answered the question if there were updated letters of intent or any other evidence included to show they plan on getting married.

Interesting and good to know! Thanks guys!

  2. I don't believe there's anything that you can do other then refile K1 or do CR-1 (this is a better option for most people). Did you have any red flags or did you have any feedback on the questions that were answered wrong? How did the interview go?...I'm guessing the expiration was a random reason that they are pinning on you to deny the visa and something else wasn't convincing about the interview. Generally, the consulate is supposed to extend your petition once they approve the case- only consulate has that authority.

  3. Some people have commented that the evidence brought for the interview was never looked through. Is the beneficiary able to pull things out of the binder while interview is going on? like When applicable is it ok to demonstrate?

If the examiner asks a question that can be answered with a document or photograph(s) can it be pulled out:
For example, if the examiner asks, "What does your family think of your husband?", giving a picture of couple with your answer; "They like him very much. Here is a picture of him with my mother and father at my parent's home."

    would this be allowed?

  4. That is not what was meant by mimolicious. If your fiance says " I do not have a comment on that" in Ghana he will be

denied. Mimolicious meant that if a poster is not sure how to answer the OP they should not comment at all in order

    not to confuse the OP.

OP, you have to wait until they contact you, you are in AP for now and nothing points to the return of your petition

from what you posted at this time. AP can last days, weeks and months. If it lasts more than a few weeks email them

    as to your case status.

lol darn! thanks for the clarification.

  5. No, this is not a denial, it's AP. It they were denied they would have been told. Also, AP does not take forever-everyone gets AP even if only for a day.

If you do not know the answer to a question do not guess as you are just scaring the OP. If you do not know a correct answer do not comment at all.

How do you not comment? Do you just say "I don't have a comment on that "? Only curious because I'm trying to prep my fiancé for our interview and I didn't know this could also be done like if he doesn't remember something

  6. Are you waiting to hear from the Consulate?

on the USCIS website it says "The NVC notifies the petitioner when it is time for the foreign fiancé/fiancée to apply for the visa."

Also I was reading on the state department website and it says

"The NVC will mail you a letter when it sends your fiancé(e) case to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate. Once you receive this letter, inform your fiancé(e) to take the below-listed actions to apply for a K-1 visa and prepare for the interview."

It seems like my fiance will need to contact or go to the embassy to schedule their interview and pick up the packets.

Someone else was telling me after they received a copy of the letter from NVC they scanned a copy to their fiance and the fiance went on a Wed. around 1pm with the letter and were scheduled to comeback later on in the day to pick up packets and schedule their interview.

I wonder if it would be helpful to submit DS 160 form online and bring the confirmation to embassy along with the NVC letter. I'm just looking for ways to speed up the process

I am waiting for them to send the call letter. I've heard in some cases you don't get the letter, in other cases the petitioner gets the letter and has to scan it to the beneficiary so that they can go in on a wednesday at 7:30am to check in then 2pm to get packet 3 & 4 (twice in one day). Someone in another post stated that you can also monitor the CAEC site for two status changes and screen shot them. For instance the status change of when the embassy receives the case and it is first marked as "ready" then there is a date change when they mail out the letter that is more current. Someone said they screen shot the change in dates of both cases and they were able to plead with officers to get the packets and also called NVC to confirm that the letter had been sent out...You can also email, but they may or may not respond, depending on if you have the correct email address or if they even care to respond. At times it takes 3 days, other times 3 weeks. These are the ways that I've noticed people have done it.

  7. Just try to make sure you have addressed any red flags. We were not denied because we had the same last name it was more the consular had some doubts. So make sure that when u go for the interview that you answer questions and try to avoid saying I don't know rather say I don't remember. And try to really know everything about your fiance because they may ask and you guys should be ready

If I may ask, were there some questions that the beneficiary responded with I don't know? and what would red flags be?

  8. We filed for k-1visa last year September and we had our first interview on June 6th 2016 and the co ask me to come back with my fiancé 2015 IRS tax and affidavit of support on the 25july I came to the embassy on that day I meet a different co and she didn't even look at the stuffs I was ask to bring she just ask some few questions and said she can't approve us because she don't trust our relationship and she said our petition has expired so she denied us so me and my fiancé decided to get married as soon because we want to start our life together so we got married on the 7th August 2016 and sent our cr1 package on the 11th of August and just last week the embassy call me again to come that is on the 31th August 2016 so I went there and another CO call me and ask some questions again and then denied me for the second time tho we have file only one k-1visa but got denied 2xl lol and what I don't understand is when ever I track our case on whe ceac website it keep saying Administrative Processing I guess they will call me again

If you don't mind, can you please share what type of additional questions were asked on the 31st of August?

  9. Thank you soo much i just looked up my case and it says ready. So i guess we are waiting for the packets. We already got the ds160 filled out once we got notification of nvc mailing it. Nerves are kicking in!!

Your welcome! I looked at your timeline and I feel like they should be contacting your fiance early this month to get the packets. I hope it happens soon enough for you, good luck!

  10. The funny part is I emailed them to inquire about our case as the status shows ready, they replied saying they were only notified by NVC and they are yet to receive the package itself. One ridiculous part of the reply was, I should not email them again, when they are ready they will contact my fiancé. Nigerian folks do get their packets for interview within days, but with Ghana it's the same old nonsense

Oh my goodnes!!! I don't understand why this has to be the hardest journey of our lives!!! I can't believe they also told you not to inquire. But at the same token if you leave it up to them, they won't mind you for 6 months, and just do it whenever they feel like it. Grrrr!

I think I will wait one month, then I will email them.

I also don't understand how they say they don't have the package because I thought that was what the case ID was for? to track through DHL the movement from NVC to Consulate?

  11. I got a question for you how did u find out the consular received your packet

I tracked the packet after I called NVC to get my case number using this link:

    https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx

So the status changed to "ready". Before it said "At NVC" and "In transit". So now it's at the consulate and I believe I have to wait about 4-6 weeks until they contact me to let me know my fiancé can pick up packet 3. In the mean time we are working on filling out the DS 160.

  12. My fiancé and I's K1 visa petition just reached Ghana and I'm stressing out about all the crazy things they could deny us for. So now I'm worried that they may deny us because my last name is hyphenated. So my last name looks like XXXXX-XXXXX so I don't know if they may think I have been married before and then say that I'm not eligible to get married. I remember I was reading through the reviews and noticed a couple was denied because they both had the same last name. Should I not stress about this or should I address it in a cover letter perhaps? My letter of intent and all supporting documents state that I have never been married before and I'm free to marry. I'd really appreciate any help with this. Thanks guys!!!

  13. So I figured I'll post this here since I was right on the cusp of May/June and I was posting in both threads - just got my approval!

    Received by USCIS May 31st

    NOA1 June 3rd

    NOA2 Aug 12th.

I for sure thought we were going to get an RFE for my fiancé's birth certificate; it didn't have a back so we didn't send one. But we're good!

Lol The blank piece of paper vs no piece of paper debate for the back of the Birth Certificate had me nervous about getting an RFE as well! Congrats on your approval!
