  1. We are in the final stages of the K-3 process, it should be completed within 2 weeks in Taiwan and my wife will receive her visa. I received the AOS Fee Bill today from NVC. We have decided will not go back to Taiwan to complete the CR-1, instead we will AOS here in the US. Can I pay for and complete the CR-1 and tell NVC my wife is in the US or is the CR-1 ONLY completed in the spouses country?

  2. We are in the final stages of the K-3 journey and I am confused about all these package numbers. My wife received the P-1 instructions, signed them and returned them to the embassy in Taiwan and has already completed her medical exam. The embassy called her Monday and asked her to come in for checking all her documents. She had her DS-230, I-156 and 134 completed when she went to the embassy yesterday. She said they did not ask her to change anything but did ask her some quesions about how and when we met. The embassy said they would be sending another DS-230 to her this week. Is that considered P-2? I do not understand why they do this twice? I assume P-3 is the interview letter and P-4 would be the visa?

  3. Mine were neck and neck when they got to NVC but the I-129f is already at the P-3 stage at the embassy and the CR-1 is still at NVC so we are definitely going the I-129f, I want my wife here!!!!

I'm just curious...I see many of you are well into the CR1 process, but you continue with the I-129F. How are you deciding which one you will use in the end? I think I'm going to be in a similar situation, but I'm pretty sure I'll just abandon the I-129F because it creates so much more work. The CR-1 finishes at the consulate. Like I said, I'm just wondering how you all feel about it.

    thanks,

    -B

  4. Mine was at NVC over the weekend and out the door to the embassy on Monday, very quick!!! But I have read that there are some middle east countries which require more work at NVC.

Most cases make it through quickly, as stated previously.

There are times when a clearance must return before the case is transferred on; The infamous NVC Delay.

  5. Only took 7 working days from NBC to NVC for us and then in 2 more days it was out the door!!!

:( I have been trying all morning to get through at NVC just to see if they have received my I-129F petition. I finally got through. It's not there yet and he said that it could take up to 90 days before they receive it. Has anyone else been told that?

90 days is a typical NVC and USCIS response. It takes between 1-2 weeks. If you take a look at your I-130 approval, then you will notice that USCIS is asking to contact NVC, if NVC does not receive the case within 90 days after the approval. Usually, it takes about 2 weeks for NVC to receive the approved petition from USCIS.

Thank you all so much. I feel better now :D .

  6. Hey Sue Vartran, I like that, you are cool!!! We should name out kids Wei Ni Hao

that is so true. we decided to name our kids " Pineapple and tangerine"

I have a very common name for a scottish person (my dad is scottish) I have the same name and him and his dad and his dads dad and so on so on.. Well it just happens that there are a couple IRA members that have our name too.. So flying is a hassle.. eventhough im a USC the second they see my passport or ID they take it away and go to the back.. I have a little form I was given a while back that states "This guy is cool leave him alone he is not in the IRA" but I still get hassled... :( So I will name my boy Sue.. :)

  7. I called this morning at 7:30 ET, that is when the operators start at NVC.

Just called NVC automated phone for update and they sent an RFE on the I-864 today. I tried calling to speak to operator (pressed 5) and all were busy. Automated service said to try after 6 PM to speak to operator.

Has anyone called after 6:00 PM? Are they there to take calls on Sat. also?

It seems anytime we have a set back or need fuirther info it's alsways on a Fri. and we have to wait the weekend

Any help on speaking to an operator soon would be helpful. We would like to know what the RFE is for or what section on the form it applies to so we get get the information by the time the letter arrives.

    Thanks

I just kept calling and calling yesterday untill I finally got through. I think their automated response thing is broken , it does not pick up as usual. I talked to a lady and did not get answers to my questions but I told her about the system acting weird.

Keep trying! You will get someone.

  8. There is no place on the I-864 where it asks for adjusted gross income? IN fact the instructions specifically ask for UNADJUSTED GROSS INCOME, this would corroborate what is shown on the W-2.....

Hey Sham, lets pray that we should not received a RFE on the documents. But me i made a mistake on I-864, where it said it ask for the adjusted gross income on 1040 (IRS transcript), i put my income based on my W2. Hopefully the one will reviewing it is a dumb**s then i'll be fine i guess. Cheers.

  9. You do not complete the DS230 and I-864 on a K-3, that is only for the CR-1, our CR-1 is at NVC now, our K-3 package is waiting at DHL to be trucked to the AIT in Taipei (US Embassy) today (8-4) . For the K-3 you complete the DS-156 and I-134.

I finally got through to NVC at 7:30 this morning and a nice young lady said our K-3 case file had gone out yesterday DHL to Taipei!!!! Woooo Hoooo. I am one day behind Shannon!!!!!

Congrats Miker !! Your K3 case left NVC in a few days after the case number was assigned. My question is...don't you have to do choice of agent and I-864 (AOS) and all that?

  10. My wife will receive her K-3 visa this month in Taiwan. We would like to go back to Taiwan for Chinese New Years next February and possibly do the CR-1 when we are there but it might not be ready by then. Do we have to apply for advanced parole or can she just use the K-3 visa stamp in her passport as often as we travel? In other words is the K-3 visa stamp on her passport a 1-time use stamp?

I applied for permanent residency in Taiwan and was only issued a 1-time use stamp and then had to apply for an alien registration card while there.

  11. I thought the DS-230 was only filled in for the CR-1 visa whereas the DS-156 was filled out for the K-3. Can somebody verify this please?

Actually what I am asking is:

    1. Do I have to pay more money to NVC after the K1 approval?

    2. Do I have to send anymore papers to NVC?

    3. Does my fiance need to send anything to NVC?

Or am I totally out of the loop and this is just a security check area before the case is sent to the consulate?

    Thanks!

I think, there is a K-1 Visa fee which should be paid prior to the interview. I am not sure, how much the fee is, maybe $100.00, someone can correct me, if it is not the right fee. NVC will forward your case, after they will assign a case number and then the US Embassy will mail the detailed instructions with forms to the beneficiary. The forms that need to be filled out are: I-134 (Notarized Affidavit of Support along with the required documents), DS 230 (Part I and II), DS 156, Ds 157, the Medical report, etc. Embassy's mail to the beneficiary will explain everything in details.

  12. The link on security checks refers to immigrant visa applications which I thought only referred to IR/CR-1. The I-156 completed for the K-3 is for a non-immigrant visa whereas the DS-230 completed for the IR/CR-1 is for an immigrant visa. Does NVC process both K-3 and IR/CR-1's as if there is immigration intent regardless of the application type?

They also run security checks on both petitioner and beneficiary. It may take a few weeks or a few months, depending on the hits they get and the country the beneficiary's from. You'll learn more about it here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...security+checks

    Good luck!

  13. We got e-mail approval for K-3 post IMBRA RFE 7/20 and I got my snail mail approval letter 7/29 and the priority date field is blank on mine too!!!

Hi.. surely, those approved as of date were the ones who sent back their RFE replies immediately and acknowledged by USCIS (between 6/23-7/08) and yes, ahead than ours..."i see some stick-on papers with numbers as they come." ..however, will the dates for the interview schedule be based on the NOA1 received/receipt date??? Did somebody already get his post-IMBRA NOA2 by snail mail? If so, what is the date written on your priority date on NOA2? Is it the received/receipt date (not the notice date) on your NOA1?

Praying for speedy approval of all who are patiently, some  and :( waiting. Give us more strength, Lord.

Congratulations to those with NOA2s and more power to your journey!

  14. Wow there are 4 of us in this journey living within a few miles of one another, I am in Cary too and work in RTP. I contacted Congressman Price's office and I am sure his aid was instrumental in getting our CR-1 corrected and approved at CSC. I also contacted Senator Doles office about getting our K-3 unstuck at NBC and never received any reply from them at all. I even resent a 10 page fax to Senator Doles office and they never bothered to reply. So much for her campaign promises that she would serve North Carolinians!!!!

Our K-3 was approved at NBC and send to NVC July 28 so I am hoping for your sake Mrs Whizz that the response you received from Price's office was just put out there by NBC to ward off the attacks.

I live in Cary NC, and also had contacted David Price's office for help on the USCIS case last year. His office wasnt too helpful or I should say he didnt have too much leverage with USCIS.

Try the office of senator Elizabeth Dole. Her folks are better/quicker in responding to immigration cases.

    I'm already on it.... :lol::blush::blink:

...if you want a good laugh. Follow that link. It comes up with something like...there are no issues under that category...lol!

And yes, I live near RTP!

  15. My wife and I met twice during the initial stages of the I-130 processing. I assumed that the application was just sitting in a pile during that time. But once the application gets processed both passports get entered into the system and that is the 1st thing any customs officer enters when you arrive in the US. I travelled back to Taiwan with my wife in May while our I-130 was being processed and when I can back into Detroit it had been approved and the customs office asked me why I had been to Ztaiwan so many times and had we started the immigration paperwork. So I think it is safe to travel UNTIL you get approved and from then on it is very risky.
