  1. Agreed. Halfway through the K1 process and its straightforward and easy to run with. I found the guides here half way through but the main forms are easy enough to fill in without having to pay someone like RapidVisa $400 to fill them in. All they can actually do is fill in forms and mail them. The rest of the process is with USCIS and the embassy in London. The petition form is just personal info you already know and theres loads of people here to help with specific questions regarding the rest of it:)

Feel free to PM me if you need any help or advice in the UK as I'm just going through it all myself :)

  2. I got the vaccinations and police certificate in advance of it being processed at NVC, once I got NVC number I booked for the next day I could make to London, a week later. This was a few days after I received packet 3 letter from London, but this wasn't requested, or required.

My signature should give you an idea of timescales. Currently waiting for interview date packet 4 (2 weeks after medical :()

Medical May 23rd. Interview June 7th :) NOW I'm mega excited.

  3. Filed January 20th :) Interview booked for June 7th :) Medical May 23rd. All paid for K1 and K2. Just waiting on sons birth cert to arrive and letter from his mum. We're all set and looking highly likely for our July 31st departure plans :)

  4. I'd book it for either the end of this week or sometime next week. Give it a chance to get to London. You don't have to wait for the paperwork.

Cool thanks for the info :) Planning on booking ti for a couple of weeks time anyway as I'm still waiting for my vaccination appointment at the dr surgery in 2 weeks. Need to have that before the medical anyway :)

  5. So after waiting 3 weeks for the NVC to contact us we contacted them. We now have our LND case number for London and the paperwork is on the way to the embassy. Can't find an answer for sure on here but does this mean I can now book the medical or do I need to wait for the embassy to contact me and receive the case file first?

    Thanks :)

  6. I-129f approved March 17, 2016. I've been calling NVC twice per week since the 30 day mark and they have not seen it. Today, I was told to call USCIS at 1-(800)-375-5283. After explaining the situation, my call was elevated to another level. The officer located the file and determined that the approved petition was never mailed to the National Visa Center. He put in a service request and gave me a confirmation number. He said our petition should be at NVC in 1-2 weeks.

I'll post again when I learn new info.

That sucks :( My NOA2 was 7th April and after calling NVC today the case is already on its way to London :)

  7. I'm using baggage hub. They quoted me £470 for 5 large 25kg boxes (they have a lot of space in them. I only ended up filling 4 boxes so it'll be less and you don't have to pay duty on them as they take a copy of your visa once you have it. As for the cat, I'd suggest somewhere like Airpets. I say Airpets because I personally have used their services to send a dog to my friend before. They were very good and dealt with most of the paperwork for me. I can't afford to take all my things with me and I've had to make a lot of really big sacrifices in order to keep with in my budget. I think baggage hub have reasonable prices.

Might get a quote from them. Total weight of my packages is 410kg and rising though :( The joy of ship it is they go on size and weight is irrelevant :)

  8. Looks like we're on the same schedule as you are and for the same reason, although I also overlooked a question on the forms. I'll feel better once we get the NOA2.

I signed up on the USCIS site for email / text notifications so I will know ASAP when there's news.

Same here :) Filed the I-129F 4 days after you. RFE on 19/03 and NOA2 on 07/04. We replied to the RFE within 24 hours though rather than 2 weeks. Should probably get NOA2 any day now with any luck :)

Yeah, the NOA2 is the first real milestone - I really need it soon. It's been 3 months already!

Keep me posted of when you get it. I'll do the same. I feel like I could have a breakdown at any minute, I'm so anxious!

    Shouldnt be long :)

  9. Therein is the answer to your own question, follow the laws of your country, if the law in the UK states the adoption certificate replaces the birth certificate -

Well it doesn't really answer the question when I can't find a definitive answer. And then there's the fact that a lot of the visa process follows the american laws and requirements. I think I know the answer but I was looking for confirmation from anyone who had been through the process and had been adopted.

Thanks for the help though. I'll wait and see if anyone else can confirm with a little more politeness.

  10. Good luck! My fiancee filed our paperwork in January and we're already at the NVC. From my end as people have stated the paperwork in the UK is all fairly quick and easy to obtain and your NOA2 took i our case 2 and a bit months to come through. Once you get that you can still get the police cert and birth certs etc in plenty of time for the paperwork to reach the embassy.

Good to see another couple in the same area of California and the UK though :)

    Nathan
