  1. I haven't posted in a bit because we had a hiccup and couldn't send AOS and IV paperwork yet. Wish us luck that everything is sent by the end of the week.

    I have a question, however: How long does it take for the DS-260 to open until the IV bill has been paid? Does it happen as soon as you pay, after it is marked as paid, or later than that even?

    Once you pay the IV fee, It will be in "In Process" . Mine took 2 days to go to "Paid". When IV fee is marked as "Paid" your DS-260 form will be unlocked.

  2. Does anyone knows how long I have to wait for the IV bill to be opened after the AOS status is PAID. I paid the AOS bill on Junew 3rd IV bill is not yet available after 5days.

    You will have to call NVC and review the DS-261 over phone. Call them today and tell them you have submitted DS-261 and you want to review it over phone. Once they review it, IV fee will be unlocked in 24 hours or so.

    Thank you for informing me eljourney! It is a great help for me...?

    Oh, just as extra information, we paid our AOS fee last night. Now we have to wait for the IV fee to be available to pay.

    I am glad! Hopefully you should have IV fee unlocked soon if you reviewed your DS-261 over phone.

    If you have not submitted Form DS-260 "Online Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration Application"at

    http://ceac.state.gov, please do so now. We cannot forward your petition to a U.S. Embassy overseas until you

    submit Form DS-260. Also, only send photocopies of your civil documents (e.g., birth certificate). Send an

    original, signed Form I-864 Affidavit of Support(s). Do not send documents on any form of electronic media,

    such as memory cards.

    This is the AOS package only or on the above is mentioned about AOS and IV package altogether?

    From what I read on visa journey information....we have to send two packages at once at NVC. Is it the same thing ?

    Did anyone received same thing in the welcome letter?

    It is both AOS and IV package together. Yes I got the same thing in my welcome letter.

  4. Just few hours ago i received the welcome letter from NVC via email. The AOS fee bill was invoiced too. Now we can pay the AOS and afterwards we are going to call NVC for the DS-261 review.

    Happy happy happy....I didn't even expected this.

    One more question guys, In the NVC letter they mention to send "Proof of relationship" with AOS package. What does this mean? I have to send them all my bonafide marriage proofs that I sent to USCIS too?

    Proof of relationship is for the AOS package if you are planning to have a joint sponsor. If not then it's not required.

    Here is the link with the info: https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/Step_4_Collect_Financial_Documents.html

    Proof of relationship If you completed Form I-864A, submit evidence that proves your relationship to the sponsor (the person who filed Form I-864). You can prove your relationship by submitting a photocopy of one of the documents below:
    • Birth certificate;
    • Marriage certificate;
    • Adoption certificate;
    • The petitioner or joint sponsor’s most recent Federal Income Tax Returns, if you are listed as a dependent; or
    • A signed, written statement describing the relationship.
  5. To clarify - the AOS fee does not automatically unlock the day after submitting the DS-261. As you mentioned, the DS-261 has to be reviewed first, then the fee will be unlocked for payment. If the DS-261 is submitted and you get NVC to review it over the phone the same day, then yes, the AOS fee will be unlocked by the next day or so.

    I don't know why but sometimes, they won't review the DS-261 over the phone until the welcome email has been sent out. Which is what happened to me and others on this forum. Yet for others, no issues.

    I got welcome letter and AOS fee unlocked the day after submitting DS-261. I did not call to review DS-261 to pay AOS fee. Once I payed AOS fee I had to call in to review the DS-261 for IV fee to be unlocked. I am just sharing my experience and it might not be the same for others. I would definitely agree with you to call them and be proactive.

  6. Hi there,

    I checked with the site again and the IV fee is not Invoiced,so I think i misunderstood...it's not available to be paid. The AOS is blocked as I can see, and no, we didn't received the welcome letter yet.

    How much time until the AOS will be available?

    The case number was assigned Friday the 3rd and we completed the DS-261 form last night(6 June) as soon as we called NVC and received the case number.

    Should we call NVC again and request to have the DS-261 form reviewed over the phone?

    Your AOS fee will be unlocked the next day after submitting the DS-261 form( so hopefully today) I got my welcome letter the day after submitting DS-261 and got the AOS fee unlocked.. Once you pay that If you have reviewed your DS-261 over phone you should be able to pay IV fee as well( In my case it was unlocked the day after reviewing DS-261). Then take the print out of the Cover sheet from the payment portal and submit your AOS and IV package.

  7. i am the petitioner for my husband too, we can fill out the form by ourselves so we don't need to choose the agent

    thank you

    Yes you or beneficiary can fill out the form. When you fill out a form it will ask

    Do you wish to appoint an agent or attorney to receive mail about your visa application? this is when you will have to choose the agent. (In my case I put in my details.)

    Here is the sample DS-261 form : http://s128.photobucket.com/user/smurf47/media/Immigration/DS-261%20screenshots/1.jpg.html?sort=6&o=0

    You can read this NVC wiki which is really helpful: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process

  8. hey eljourney,

    it is important to choose an agent when you are paying AOS and IV fees, because the information of this website says, the agent can be petitioner or beneficiary or any other relative who can have a valid emails and can receive the emails from NVC?

    You will have to choose an agent before paying AOS and IV fee(as far as I know). First you choose an agent online which is submitting DS-261 form.

    I am the Petitioner in my case. My Spouse chose me as an agent. I receive all email's from NVC about our case.

    You can act as your own agent or Petitioner as your agent, which ever is easier :) Hope this helps.

  9. OK guys,

    I was in the May 2016 thread but was moved to this one. So my scan date is MAY 23 repeat MAY 23, 2016. I just checked online and I see that my Affidavit of Support changed from paid to N/A. Is this real? Is this a dream? Its been 10 days only I cannot believe I could have a case complete. I don’t even wanna call, I’m so nervous. I’ve even attached an image of my screen because I thought that maybe I was looking wrong. Someone tell me if this is what 3 N/As look like. is y status supposed to change under Visa Status Check through CEAC? I appreciate a clarification thanks.

    That's awesome! looks like its case complete. You can call and confirm :)

  10. @happiestoflives @dwheels76. Thank you for Clarifying..

    I was just starting with the cover letter for IV package and I have few questions:

    1) Can the cover letter be written by Petitioner?

    2) When writing cover letter do we mention Attn: DR or Attn: CMR?

    On NVC site it says Attn: DR:

    https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/Submit_documents.html#method3

    On Visa journey site it says Attn: CMR:

    https://docs.google.com/document/d/1xS_Hj5SS51xgMA7rWpjGDUB1Ycr4q1nuIZaJh6Qh8c8/mobilebasic?pli=1

    I don't know if this matters?
