  1. May filer here. I ran into a very unusual case here. My interview was scheduled yesterday on Oct 30th. It’s a 4 hr drive one way from where I live to the Detroit office. So we decided to take an extra day off and drive there the night before so we won’t be late for the interview.  I arrived there 30 mins prior and checked in for my appointment. I went thro the first step which they captured my photo and fingerprints. Waiting over 1 hr to be called. However, I was told by the IO supervisor there that they couldn’t conduct my interview because my background check was still pending. During my wait time, she had submitted two inquiries on their end. Knowing we drove a long way, she let me wait for another 30 mins and hope she would hear back from the inquiries but no luck. She had to send me home and told me to just wait. Most likely they would just reschedule me for another interview whenever my background check was completed. It was very exhausting for driving over 8 hrs in total let along the additional financial costs to attend this appointment. I looked up on USCIS website, it’s clearly stated under their policy manual for N400 that one’s background check must be conducted and completed before they schedule an interview. Well, that’s not the case for me at least. I have submitted an inquiry to ombudsman office for the negligence and maladministration occurred by USCIS. I don’t know how long that would take nor when and what to expect next. I’m planning to also contact my immigration attorney who helped our AOS and ROC applications in the past years tomorrow and see if there is anything she can help us legal wise. Sighhhhh

  2. Does anyone have any insight of how often they hold a judicial oath ceremony on the west side of Michigan? Anyone here who requested a name change can share their timeline of how long they had waited for a judicial ceremony on the west side? Or state wide in general? How long is the delay for judicial ceremony due to name change compared to administrative ceremony? Thanks!

  3. Just saw everyone filed after me either got their interview done or at least scheduled. It seems like a roughly 3 months waiting time between NOA and interview at Detroit office. Meanwhile, i’m stuck at biometric. Lol Not sure which part of my application slows mine down.  Perhaps requesting a name change, or traveling international frequently in the past a few years due to my job? Any insight? Thanks!

    Hey everyone

wondering if any of you guys can answer a question for me. Today we got our approval notice for the ROC and states that the green card should be received in 60 days. However the letter also states that we should not travel outside of the US while waiting for the new green card to come since our old one is expired. But like many of you, we had received the 18 month extension letter and it is still valid through Feb 2020 (received Aug 2018). I’m thinking the reason they say no travel is so that people who have an expired card and no extension letter don’t leave the US and have trouble getting back in AND that since we do have a letter that is valid through our travel dates we should be okay. Anybody can help out with this?

Hi there. I had the same concerns. As per my attorney, the warning on the approval letter is just a general warning stated on most of the approval letters. I personally had travelled twice with the expired green card and extension letter after my case was approved but before I received the new green card. No problem at all. Everything was the same as it was before the approval. No additional question asked.

Hey everyone! Just received my 10 years permanent resident card in the mail today! The e mail from USCIS stated that they shipped my new card on the 9th. Good luck to all of you! And thank you for keeping each other updated :)

Congrats. I received mine on the 10th as well. The tracking # originally was shown an estimate delivery on the 12th but surprisedly it was in the mailbox literally next day. Good luck to those who are still waiting! Potomac finally had stared moving. I waited over 3 months from the transfer till I heard something from them, and it was finally approved about 1 month after I re did my bio.

possibly there is an issue with the card issuing machine?

Like they printed wrong gender on the cards for some people a few months back?! Lol I can’t imagine if I had to go thro  the process again to fix the error on the card. 😑

anyway, my status changed to “card was mailed to me” today on July 8th. Hope yours did as well.

Just checked the website. It says “new card is being produced. On June 26 we ordered your card for receipt number ...” And I received the approval notice on June 27.

Oh, you were actually approved a day before me on the 26th. Mine was the 27th and I received the approval notice on July 2nd. So far, no card and the status is still shown “card being produced”. I guess everyone at USCIS took a long holiday weekend off. 😄

No, I haven’t. Does anyone know how long it approximately takes to receive the new card after the approval letter?

Typically a week after “card is being produced” depends on where you live give or take a day or two difference; or a few days after the approval letter.

What does your online status say? Usually after “card is being produced”, it will be case approved, then USPS picked up the card with or without tracking # and then card was mailed/delivered. Mine has been just stuck at “card being produced”. Lol

Big thanks to everyone here keeping each other informed and motivated and for all the updates!

Just curious if you had received your card yet. We were both approved on the same day. The approval letter arrived on Tuesday but online status still says “Card is being produced” as of Jun 27. I know it’s a holiday week. Wonder if it has anything to do with the delay.

Call USCIS to reschedule your appointment and explain what really happened to them.

Thank you for the advice. Just talked to my attorney. She suggested me to try walk in as soon as I get back in 2 days. Otherwise, she would request to reschedule the apt. I was just wondering if anyone here had successfully done walk in after missed the original appointment.

  11. Long story short. We received biometric appointment letter this afternoon in the mailbox that our biometric was scheduled this morning at 10am. The letter was dated May 21st but I guess cause it’s long weekend so the mail didn’t come until today the 28th.

I also applied for N-400 earlier this month and actually also got biometric scheduled for the exactly the same time on the 28th at 10am. I successfully did walk in for that one last week as I knew I would be out of the country for work on the 28th. Both these two appointment are code 5.

Question is what my best option is at this point? Should I just attend the biometric as soon as possible once I return to the states on the 30th and explain to them I only received the letter on the day of and the ASC is about 3 hrs from where I live? Anyone has experience you attend the biometric late?

Or should I call USCIS ASAP and reschedule this appointment for I-751?

Any info is appreciated! Thank you!

  12. Anyone here who were transferred to Potomac Center from CSC in early March are still waiting? It’s been almost 80 days since the transfer but still heard nothing. Mine was transfer once on March 6th and then again next day on March 7th. I’ve only received one transfer notice stating it’s at Potomac. Also, I travel abroad a lot for work. My extension letter is even getting worn out from being used again and again almost every week. Last week it almost got me into trouble cause the line on the letter stating 18 month extension was barely readable. Does anyone know if I can request another official copy of extension letter from USCIS or it’s better to make a info pass at local office and just get a stamp on the passport? It’s getting really frustrating from this long waiting game 😭

    Hello Everyone,

My case was transferred to Potomiac center on March 25/2019 from VSC. I still have not heard anything. To me It looks like cases which were transferred to Potomac center were being approved in a month. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Mine was transferred to Potomac on march 7th from CSC. Still haven’t heard anything 👀 maybe that’s the case for VSC transfers but not for CSC😒

While checking my batch on the app I saw that recently there has been a significant number of approvals for people that were previously transferred on 3/6 & 3/7 to Potomac

Really? That’s a good news! When I check 500-/+ from my case #, I only see a few RFE update sent out after the transfer. No approval yet around my filing date which is May 9th.

  15. Would like to start a new thread just for Potomac Center. Quite a few April and May, 2018 CSC filers were transferred to Potomac a few weeks ago. It seems like CSC has skipped these filers that were transferred cause some late May filers were getting approved. So far, I have only seen an April filers who was transferred on Feb 19th, 2019 just got approved. If anyone else who was transferred to Potomac Center could share your timeline, it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

    Mine:

    filed on May 6th, 2018 @CSC

transferred to Potomac Center on Mar 7th.

Came home and found the biometric letter for my husband. He’s scheduled to take his on March 11th. Hopefully this moves quickly now.

Oh wow, you guys have to go get the actual biometric done? I received the letter today saying they would be using the previous one. It seemed like some people got biometric waved and some others got scheduled to do the actually biometric. I wonder if it was randomly selected or because different service centres.

This is pissing me off - almost everyone around my case# is receiving as "Fingerprint review completed" notifications except me.

Same here. I’m a May 2018 filer. I checked on the app 500 cases before and after mins yesterday and almost everyone got fingerprint review completed except mine. I filed change of address in Dec. Did you happen to file change of address too? I was wondering if that has anything to do with it.
