  1. How can I track my visa delivery from Delbros? Can I get their website?

    thanks.

Go to Delbros main page and input your MNL case number with '01' at the end. For example, if your case number is MNL20079999999 you would use MNL2007999999901. You can also call them directly or send an SMS message with your tracking number followed by the word 'status'. Good luck!

  2. Spiderman 3 have good special effects but did not really enjoyed the whole story that much because of the melo-dramatic focus on their characters. I was expecting more actions in the movie, so I was quite disappointed... but special effects and computer animations was really awesome!

I wasn't all that impressed either. First MJ blows off Peter over a staged kiss then Peter blows off MJ out of spite. Ho-hum. Such a poor 'love story' plot. The action was pretty good though. Especially that 'sand man' beast. Overall it was definitely worth seeing - especially at the Philippines movie prices. ;)

  3. This is exciting because Phil-Am familes have forged a space in The Foreign Embassy and Consulate General Discussion forum and have not had a place of our own until now. I wonder if the good forks in the Manila Embassy Thread would be apposed to moving the thread here.

I moved it here, I suppose if anyone objects, it can be moved back!

    Enjoy your forum!

Thanks devilette! It's good to see our own sub forum! I suppose everyone will find their way here eventually.

Yep, another helper is Roy & Yazi's post about the Manila thread. It led me here.

  4. We didn't get an SMS message to alert us that the shipment is on the way but here's our Delbros website status as of 7pm Manila time:

5/22/2007 6:06:35 PM SHIPMENT IN PROCESS

5/16/2007 2:50:37 PM SHIPMENT PROCESS IN THE EMBASSY

Based on orimai's status update it looks like Lina's visa should be out for delivery either tomorrow or Thursday. As long as we can get the CFO stamp done before we're scheduled to leave on Friday I'll be happy.

    Good luck all!

  5. Good luck to everyone who has their interviews today. I still remember watching the number screen with the 'doorbell' ding dong. :P

I called Lorraine at 5184 this morning and was told that our case was approved yesterday afternoon. That's a big relief for us. At least we know that we're not in AR now. I just hope we get the Delbros SMS soon so we can get the visa. I requested a pickup from Delbros but they said they don't allow it. I even offered to pay extra or a 'tip' and she just laughed and said she couldn't do that. :P She did say it would be delivered next business day within Metro Manila so hopefully we'll get that text message from them soon. We have flights together going back early Friday so we're cutting it close now.

  6. is it okay to bring a photo album for the pictures?

Our prescreener asked for select pics, chat, email, etc so have them prepared in advance and further info if needed. We have our entire history of communication but were only asked to present a few at the pre screener and the CO never asked.

  7. It's now 7:25am Manila time May 20th.

best of luck to the remaining May interviewees with their interviews this week. knock 'em dead joemaria, jeng, iamskin and princess autil.

end May with four approvals.

    DITTO!!!!

I'll send some good vibes too.

We're still waiting here in limbo. Delbros status says our case is still at the USE and 5184 says the same. She couldn't tell me if our case was fine and just in line behind others or if there was a problem. All they could say is to continue waiting...

  8. I passed the medical exam. Thank God :) ....interview is coming....

4 days from now will be my interview at the USE. Do they accept a xerox copy of latest ITR and W-2? because that's what my fiance's parents mailed me (as you know my fiance is currently in the warzone). But still i wish they could have sent me the ones they printed from the computer not the xerox copy.

    Congratulations to Gracy :dance::dance::dance:

    Congrats on your medical. :)

IMO you can only have one 'original' copy of your ITR. I used copies of everything I submitted to the IRS. The only thing that was original was one of the 4 original W2 statements my employer sent me.

    PW,

The interview was ok. From the CO, we got was the "everything looks fine" line. There have been so many AR's ... I'll believe it's approved when they release it. BTW, Cheryl received packet 4 on May 3. I suspect they sent (another) one when she requested to pick it up at SLEC.

    Mike

Mike... As you know we're in the same boat. 'Everything looks fine, wait for the visa or to hear from us'. I will not believe everything is okay until the visa is in hand. No news thus far. I tried to call the USE a few minutes ago but forgot they closed at 4:30pm. I guess we're not going to know anything until Monday at the earliest. I see Jeff & Fria were able to pickup their visa today and since we all had interviews at the same time that makes me nervous. I hope we're not on AR. :help:

frias visa in hand friday the 18th. 130pm. hoot. our prayers are with you rob lina,,, cheryl mike. take care all, jeff and fria

Congrats to you both, Jeff! Lina said she got Fria's text on Friday. We were both happy for you and nervous at the same time since we had interviews only a few minutes apart. Hopefully we'll get good news on Monday. Fingers crossed here for us and Cheryl & Mike! :)

  11. It was real bad here between around 9am and noon but was clearing up on the way back from lunch. The office seems to have cleared out as well. Earlier our server room smelled like there was a campfire in it. Now all is good. Hope those fires get a good long rain on them soon.

  12. I don't understand why American citizens participate in things like this.

Why not though? Easy cash. How much are they paying these days? $10,000? $20,000?

My dad was offered $10K whether the marriage lasted or not. As I said, he declined on moral and legal reasoning.

  13. I think that statistically speaking, from everything I read in our papers and hear on the news and when it comes to the rates insurance companies charge (they do a pretty good job of risk assessment), it's the kids behind wheels that are the greatest danger to themselves and others on the roads. Old folks are doing pretty well on the road. They're slow and all but they are far less likely to cause accidents than other age groups.

I think it's debatable that the elderly are better drivers than kids and if so that would be the only age group they might be better than.

The numbers don't support that statement.

The percentage of licensed drivers per age group that will be involved in accidents starts at 30% for drivers 19 and younger and works it's way down quite steadily to 5% for those drivers up to age 74 to then inch up a percentage point for the entire age group 75 and older. See below for how that plays out.

    <19 ~ 30%

    20-24 ~ 19%

    25-24 ~ 12%

    35-44 ~ 10%

    45-54 ~ 8%

    55-64 ~ 6%

    65-74 ~ 5%

    < 75 ~ 6%

As such, the seniors as a whole are safer drivers than any of the other age groups. The seniors are not the problem on the road.

Sorry but I don't buy it. IMO those number do not represent driving ability. You can't tell me a driver aged 65-74 is better than drivers who are (picking an age range) between 30 and 60. They may have fewer accidents but it doesn't mean they're better drivers. I'd like to see what percentage each of those age groups make up of overall traffic. My guess is aside from 'retiree areas' (parts of FL for example) seniors don't make up a great amount of traffic on the road. Most are retired and aren't driving as much and aren't forced to drive in rush hour traffic 2x per day 5 days per week.

I see seniors at the supermarket that take nearly a minute to get in or out of a friggin' handicapped parking space with no other cars/people around them. How many times do you read a story of a car going through a store front, house, garage, etc without it being a senior who thought the gas was the brake? Seniors may not be *the* problem on the road but they are definitely very dangerous.

I'm with Lisa on this. Give a vision, hearing, and reflex test for every (not just seniors) license renewal. I haven't taken a driving exam or test since I got my license at 16. That's 23 years! WTH is the point of a drivers license if it's nothing more than a form of ID? I don't know about an age cap though. My dad is 67 and I ride with him every few weeks. He's actually a very good driver and he does not drive slow/passive. He keeps up with traffic and I've never felt unsafe with him. Plus, the bulldog AARP would *NEVER* allow an age cap.

  14. And this, my fellow VJ'ers, is exactly why we go through what we go through in this visa process.

Yep, it sucks. With my wife's interview in less than a week I'm just glad they weren't from the Philippines.

My dad has a friend with a Russian wife. She keeps trying to set him up with her Russian friends. Yes, money was offered. He turned her down out of moral and legal reasoning.

  15. Hubby wants to pimp around in the Audi A4, I say the civic is better. Whose side are you on?

Stay away from that '97 Audi. The only thing you'll be pimping is the local dealership's or exotic repair shop's bottom line.

 I own a 'fine German engineered' car. Fun to drive but also unreliable and expensive to repair.

Lately, it seems auctions have tons of bidders and the prices go up to mkt value, so I hope you'll be able to get one at a great price!

Me personally, I'd go for the Audi.

I'd be willing to bet good money that the Audi will have $1000+ in repairs within the next year. German cars are well known as mechanical nightmares.

  16. GOOD PRICE! I did a search on vehix.com for the lowest priced Honda Civic, and it revealed 4k. Not bad at the auction. LUCKY! The Audi A4 is not a bad price.

Stay away from a German car unless you enjoy expensive repairs.

    <=== VW owner

My neighbor buys all of his cars from auctions. He's got a friend who buys and sells them and when he's ready to move into another car he has his friend start scouting. No problems so far.

  17. Seperation of Church and State :crying:

Seperation of Church and State :crying:

Seperation of Church and State :crying:

Seperation of Church and State :crying:

I don't see why his religion is a big deal, or why anyones is, it's your choice what you believe in, and if I believe in chugging Red Bull and coffee then thats my choice to make. Hopefully the 'Seperation of Church and State' is enough to ensure that the president and his cabinet cannot exact massive changes on our way of life based on their religous beliefs. It's not like bush tried to ban condoms... is it?

    Thank you!

    Church <<<<<<<<<< | >>>>>>>>>> State

I am sick and tired of 'faith based' laws and decisions in this country. Whether it's abortion or stem cell research or same sex marriage or prayer in school. Freedom *of* religion also included freedom *from* religion, or at least it's supposed to.

  18. Is this the same pastor also know as 'Chicago Billy' that used to be a regular caller on Steve Duemig's afternoon sports talk radio show? If so the guy is very outspoken and IMO a christian fun-dumb-mentalist idiot but according to Duemig gives a lot of $$$ to charity. To bad he's a bigot as well but that often goes hand in hand with the fun-dumb-mentalists.

  19. We've got heavy haze of smoke here (Tampa Bay Area) and the smell is the worst so far. I can't see the ash falling but I can see a fine layer of it over everything outside. I'm looking forward to getting out of here tomorrow morning. Going to Manila for air quality relief. Imagine that! :jest:
