  1. Yes, definitely go to the interview anyway. If they turn you down and tell you that your interview was really cancelled, then it was. But there have been a lot of cases on here where people didn't go to their cancelled interview and their case was denied!

So we're supposed to go to this interview that's most likely going to result in being told it was canceled? Excuse my language but that's absolute freaking #######. I was downsized by my former employer a few months back and I'm only 7 weeks into a new job. I can't afford to be taking time off work to attend an interview that's likely result is, 'your interview was canceled - go back home and wait to hear from us'. Maybe I should have just gone on unemployment instead? That way I would have plenty of time to wait around until the next time they dangle a carrot in front of us.

  2. Yes Angilla it sounded like you had tons going on (F) , understandable how the AOS package maybe wasn't as neatly organized as you wished. But that's no excuse for THEM losing stuff - I've heard of it happening several times before (hmm wonder if it is the same distracted worker... :( ??).

Too bad the online updating seems to be defective, but at least we can't be obsessive-compulsive about snail-mailbox checking - cuz it only comes once a day!

In the meantime as you said Angilla, we can get to know each other really well and then have a class reunion when lifting conditions at the same time. :D

Prayers for a smooth surgery MariaDane, and for getting news on your interview or transfer! (F)

Lina I'm sorry you didn't get biometrics appointment yet, that is strange. I just got the notice in the mail and nothing updated online about biometrics. I wonder if calling up the customer service would be of any help? I hope you get the appointment news soon!

Thanks ELW , Thanks for your info. I will call the customer service today i hope i can get info from them ........that is horrible nothing update at all just the Notice of Action though, it is very stranger .......I hope I have a news soon ......

  3. This is a disaster. The Americans have now established a worsening security situation for the rest of the world with their stupidity. It wouldn't be bad if these people filled with vengeance launched attacks against the United States. But they now may lash out at the rest of the world, who have been powerless to protect them from the bully Americans.

The only way this situation can be alleviated is if the rest of the world comes to the aid of Iraq once the Americans leave. The rest of the world needs to build up what the Americans have destroyed.

    America. Biggest bully ever.

    Please just DIAFF already.

  4. Of course there's no underlying conviction. That's whole sodding point of obstructing the investigation. That doesn't however mean there wasn't an underlying crime. You think Libby lied just for shits and giggles?

Some are claiming it was Libby's bad memory. I kid you not.

    Worked for Gonzalez.

  5. Because hitting someone in front of so many spectators opens you up to allll sorts of tort/civil liability issues let alone the criminal ones. If you were to hit him and kill him (there could be all manner of reasons why he went nutty, including a brain bleed) you would be - frankly - screwed.

No way that would happen. The guy was obviously putting other passengers in danger. Plus you don't have to hit someone to subdue them.

  6. I had a homebrew setup about 15 years ago. It's a lot of work and it's not as easy as it looks/sounds. You have to boil your brew for a while before you can let it ferment and cleaning the bottles and equipment isn't much fun either. In the long run the cost of the malt, hops, etc was more than if I had just purchased a similar beer at the local store. I made about 10 batches before giving up on the hobby simply because it was too much effort and money to make average tasting beer. If you are going to try it I'd recommend a filter. No matter how careful I was I couldn't get the cloudiness and yeasty taste out of mine.

  7. Its been awhile since I've been here! I see nothin much has changed other than ppl postin shite to get the HEART thing! nice to see the boredom has taken hold of you!

Where would you be without VJ?

    How's the hangover?

  8. Too many "old" movies on there. I think movies have gotten a lot better over time, better acting, more realistic, but these lists always have such a heavy weighting towards the "classics".

I think that they have gotten worse. Much worse.

A friend of ours is a movie producer. He feels more strongly than I do. It is hard to make a good movie, since every movie he makes needs to make money. The theatrical release covers promotional expenses. His profit comes from DVD sales, $1 each. For a cheap ($9 million movie), he needs to sell 9 million DVDs. To break even.

Michael Moore's new movie cost $9 mil. This is cheap in Hollywood - they spend that much on film and lights for most movies.

A good script does not get done now, since it can't be sold without a big market, and a big cast. The cast is expensive enough that only cookie-cutter films, very likely to make a profit get made.

What does the quality of a movie have to do with cost or profit? Some movies cost a fortune and they suck - Pearl Harbor for example. Others are done on a budget and are still great - like Pulp Fiction @ 8 million (I believe).

The people who consider these 'classic' movies great would probably consider the '57 Chevy the greatest car of all time as well. Or maybe a 2007 white Buick. Either way, you get my drift. ;)

  9. Domestic (US) mass produced: Sam Adams Boston Lager or Sam Adams Black Lager. I'll drink Bud Light but only because it's relatively cheap and available everywhere tap or bottle.

Imports: My all time favorite 'sipping' beer - Samichlaus Bier, Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout, Murphy's Irish Stout, Weihenstaphaner Korbinian, Spaten Optimator, Paulaner Salvator Double bock, I could go on and on and on.

Best marketed terrible tasting beer: Heineken by far. It's what regular beer smells/tastes like after it sits too long in the heat - skunk piss in a bottle.

Most overrated beer: Guinness. I know it's 'hip' but there's so many better stouts that don't taste like a log from a fire. Murphy's Irish Stout and Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout are far better tasting and more drinkable.
