  1. I had so much trouble with this, too, when I was working on the I-864. What I had to do was download the form again, and then ONLY open it in Acrobat Reader. If you're using an Apple computer, for example, don't open it in Preview for even a minute. Then (hopefully) the big barcodes will appear at the bottom and the text will work correctly. So download a whole new I-864 from the website, open it Acrobat Reader, and save it with a new name so it doesn't get mixed up with the old form.

I really hope that helps. I had so much computer trouble with the form.

It finally worked for me!! Thank you so much! I was having such a hard time figuring out what I was doing wrong! Thank you!!

  2. Hello there! thx for your inputs... Is your husband applied for residence visa, while here? Couting of six months started from the first day he arrived? What is alien card?

I'm actually the one who's the US Citizen, I petitioned my husband. We arrived last November 2015 so I passed the 6 month requirement. The alien card is something that your fiance can apply for in the bureau of immigration just so that their stay here is legal. :)

  3. I want to say thank you to all of you. It's confirmed that she landed. The girl I saw on that car and the clothes she was wearing to the last picture she sent me before her flight in manila were the same. All of your are right that the best thing to do is to move on. I just need to accept that she planned all this. I already reported her and talked to her family. I am so depressed right now and I need to make time for myself to move on. Again, thank you for all of you and God bless you all.

Hi there I am an American born in the Philippines to an American Father and Filipina mother. The best option here is to move on. Some Filipinas are known for marrying just to get petitioned to the US and live their supposed "American dream". I would be more that glad to assist you in reporting her because I hate it when people do that. I hope karma gets to her

  4. hi

they all have to be USC or LPR to qualify for a joint sponsor

the highest one is the better one, but as said it all depends on them, ask them first,

but know that if they only want to sponsor one, then you will need to ask all 3 of them

all of them make over they poverty guidelines, which for 4 people, is over 30K

the friend is the best, ask him first, because he makes the most and he has been working longer

but the others qualify as well, as long as they USC or LPR

Ahh! I see! Alright I'll talk to him and hopefully he'll agree to sponsor all 3.

Thank you very much! You've been very helpful! :)

  5. hi

it doesn't matter if the joint sponsor is related or not, just that he or she qualifies

there is no exact answer, it really depends on the joint sponsor, if his friend is will to sponsor all three, that is fine

if you want to split them, that can also be done since they are separate petitions

is the joint sponsor willing to cover for all 3?

Thank you for your reply :)

I haven't asked them if they're willing to sponsor all 3 cause I think it might be a bigger duty compared to sponsoring just 1 or 2. But would it make it easier or more established if I only had 1 sponsor for all 3 of them? :) and their US status won't matter?

  6. Hi everyone! I just want to make sure everything works out well in our petition so I want to choose the best option. I am petitioning my kids and husband and will be needing a joint sponsor and I have three who already agreed.

My sister is a USC who makes $50k a year, she is willing to sponsor, I also have a bestfriend who is a LPR who makes $68k a year. They both just moved to the US in 2014 while my husband's bestfriend earns $75k a year, he has been working since 2012. They are all single with no kids and all live in San Francisco.

Would our case be stronger if we took someone related as a sponsor like my sister even if she only makes 50k a year? or are we better off getting someone with higher income even if they're a green card holder and not yet a citizen?

Do we need to get someone who would live in the same state? We'll live in Illinois and they live in SF.

Also would it matter if we have different sponsors for my kids and husband? My husband's bestfriend would sponsor him and my bestfriend or sister would sponsor my kids, or are we better off getting someone who would sponsor all three of them?

Sorry for the long post. I just want to make sure that I make the right choice. Thank you so much!

  7. Hi everyone! I just wanna share my experience with you guys. After years of planning ( since July 2014) we finally decided to take the plunge and file! Our first step was to file the CRBA for my kids since we want to prove to that the kids have no claim to citizenship thru CRBA. After the refusal letter for the CRBA we proceeded to Window 25 where we passed all the documents needed. Here are the requirements that they took:

I-130 for my husband and kids

G325A signed by me and my husband

Proof of my citizenship (I passed my US passport and my CRBA)

Passport photocopy (all pages with stamps)

Proof of our relationship (She took the marriage certificate, Advisory of Marriage, bank certificates, baptismal and birth certificates of our kids)

I'm just happy that we're done with the first step! I'm just hoping for a good outcome! Thank you everyone for all the help. I appreciate how you all take the time to reply and answer questions.

  8. Hi guys! I will be filing for my husband and kids next week and I just want to make sure that I didn't miss anything.

Here's the checklist for my husband:

    1. Cover Letter

    2. Completed Form I-130

    3. G-1145

    4. G-325 Petitioner

    5. G-325A completed by beneficiary

    6. Passport photos of petitioner and beneficiary

    7. Consular Report of Birth Abroad (I was born in the Philippines to an American father)

    8. US License and Social Security Card of Petitioner

    9. Copy of Petitioners Passport

    10. NSO copy of marriage cert

    11. NSO Copy of advisory on marriage of petitioner and beneficiary

    12. NSO birth certificate of petitioner and beneficiary

    13. Baptismal Certificate of our children

14.Evidence of a bona fide marriage

    pictures

    itineraries

    bank statements of joint accounts

    timeline of relationship

Do I need an NBI clearance for us too? I am just so worried and I wanna make sure everything's complete..

For my kids do I need to fill up a G-325a for them also? Thank you everyone! God bless us all!

  9. Hi I have a question, I am currently in Manila and will be petitioning my kids and husband to move back to the US with me. They don't qualify for CRBA so I need to petition them. I have a co sponsor who makes 65 a year, more than enough to sponsor both kids. She has only started working in Jan 2015 because she only became a LPR in August 2014. My question is:

Can she still sponsor even if she only has W2 for year 2015 and has only been working for a year?

Does it matter that she's only 24 years old? Won't they think that she's underqualified because she's young and has only recently started working?

Can she still sponsor even if she's just a green card holder and has only acquired it last 2014?

Answers will be very much appreciated! :)

  10. Hi everyone! I am now filling up the I-130 for my son and I was just confused with one section

    on Section D it asks:

    1. If separate petitions are also being submitted for other relatives, give names of each and relationship.

is this asking about my relationship with the other relatives or relationship of the principal immigrant with the other relatives that I'm filing for?

    Should I put:

John Doe (Husband) or John Doe (Father)

  11. Hi everyone! Here's the question, my Aunt is going to sponsor my husband, she maked 60k a year, she's married but her husband has some debts and doesn't make enough. Do I still need to ask her husband for the i-864a? They're married but they don't combine their income and he's not reflecting on his taxes? I'm just worried he might affect our I-864? Should I just go look for another sponsor?
