She's 7 months pregnant and many doctors are refusing to provide her with care unless they can get the documents translated. The documents are her ultrasounds and blood work from her regular visits to a local doctor in her city.
Wow! Congratulations Chris!!!

Hi,
You do not need any other forms except DS 160. I can't access to any photo copy machine currently so sorry it's quite inconvenient for me to send you any PDF docs...
Don't worry. Just fill DS-160 online then you will be fine.
Good luck!

I read somewhere that the materials were returned. Nevermind, apparently it would be inside your visa packet.
Hmm... I got my passport, along with a packet that I can't open. Wondering if the medical report is within it...
I also asked because I saw Chris's new topic. He was asking about getting his wife's medical report from China translated. Don't know where did he get it...
-
May I ask why do you have medical reports from China? And what's that translation for?
I only bought my flight to the States and don't know what to do next. Is there any pages that I can go over before I leave? So I won't miss anything...
Thanks very much in advance Chris.

Hey, Did you get your medical report back after the interview?
I am back from the interview and realized they did not return my medical report. I am wondering, they do not give it back, it is that keep it or VO forgot to give it back to me?
Nope, I only got a notice saying my visa is approved... Why are you asking?
-
Hey that is indeed unexpected! And that is indeed good news! I think I read one of the applicant who had interview recently got his visa status "Issued" also in three days.
Did you selected a EMS delivery or the pick up and how long did it take to have your passport in hand?
Yes. I selected a pick up location in my hometown (Fujian) on CGI Stanley. And I haven't got it yet as I am still in Shanghai. I checked and it says my passport is currently being proceeded for delivery.
-
Congratulations Joanna, your write-up about the embassy is a bit more detailed than mine (rightfully so, you had inside experience
) where I had to wait outside. I'm very happy for you two, and wish you all the best for the future.
Thank you very much Chris! And the same to you! My flight for the States leaves on May 31st!
so excited!!!
-
Thank you Jonna!
BTW, how long did it take for your visa to be in the status "Issued" from the day of your interview?
It only takes three days after my interview. That was unexpected.
Congrats!
Thank you!

Thank you for sharing your experience! My appointment is scheduled in two weeks. Hopefully it will go all fine as well.
I have a question, when you were waiting in the line before entering the building, which documents are checked. I know we need appointment letter(P4) and the the confirmation letter. Do we also need UID printout with the barcode?
I had it print out and brought it with me. It's just two pieces of paper. But before entering the building, the stuffs only checked my passport and the confirmation letter. But I put P4 and appointment confirmation and DS-160 confirmation letter in one folder. Just in case.
Congratulations!
Thank you Maria & Seve! Another journey just begins...

Congratulations! Having your ducks in the right row always pays off ;-)
Thanks a lot! Wish us all best of luck!

First of all, I wanna thank all VJs. Thanks a lot for your generous help. My visa is approved! My interview appointment is at 7:45am and I arrived around 7:30. I came out around 9:15. It took more than an hour but mostly was the waiting. The actual interview only took 8 mins.In front of the US consulate, there are two lines waiting to get in. Get in line to the immigration interview queue where you will be guided to get thought the security check. (They allow you to get in 15 minutes before your appointment.)I was in line with quite a lot of people. Say more than 20... Then we headed to a build where we had our interviews. It was on the third floor. Window 1 and 2 are where you get your number. Then wait at area A for your turn. When your number be announced on the screen, go to your specified window to turn in your documents. They took my affidavit of support, tax returns, notarial certificates, passport, medical report, appointment confirmation and P4 letter. (The CO asked very basic questions in mandarin.)Then they asked me to wait at area B. They are all in the same floor so it's simple and as other K-1 filers said-- painless. When it was my turn, the CO asked my name in mandarin and I replied Good morning and my name is *** with a smile. She spoke English with me afterwards. Here are the questions.1. Who is your petitioner?2. How you meet? Where you meet? How long have you been together? (Met at work. Been together for almost three years)3. How many times have you gone to America? (Twice to visit him and his family)4. How many times has your fiancee visited you? (Three times after he went back to the States)...Here is a funny story... When she was getting through my documents, she stopped suddenly. Because my fiancee had several crimes that he committed underage. She said: Miss, it is my responsibility to let you know your fiancee was in possess of alcohol underage of 21... And I said, I know. For three times. She said are you fully aware and you still want me to move forward. I said yes. (I told my fiancee about this and he laughed. Because in China that is not even a crime.) However, I'm aware of the seriousness in the whole application....5. What's your job? (Product specialist in Tesla Motors.)6. What's his job? (Grad student in UCSD who is graduating this June. And I intend to join his graduation ceremony. His parents will be there too.)7. When was the last time you saw each other? (A month ago. Do you wanna see the pictures? CO said no.)She keeps on typing on her computer. I knew I got approved after the first several questions. She chatted with me about how many crimes that my fiancee committed. Haha. She also asked about some other simple questions. Didn't ask for any photos or resume or passport stamps or anything. It's not luck but our well prepared documents and our true relationship had helped us. Then she said congratulations, your visa is approved. Yay!I checked yesterday. My visa was issued yesterday. Only took three days! I hope this will help you guys on your immigration journey. Good luck!PS:If your notarial certificates was three months ago or even earlier, it's fine.If your recent passport photo is different from the one you submitted on DS-160. It's also ok.

Hopefully you got the information you needed. The easy way to find out about P3 and P4 timeframes is to review the timelines of folks that have recently gone through the GUZ consulate. Not certain if our timeline would be of much use, we were interviewed at the old consulate back in 2012.
Good luck on your immigration journey.
Thanks Pitaya. I got approved!!!
Yay!!!
I know this is a super late response, and you are already on your way to your interview, but the standard delivery time of the P4 is 5 business days after they receive your completed P3. This is all subject to change based on Holidays ect...
You are right Chris. I got it in five business days. I'll put my specific time on my timeline for others' information.

Joanna,
I apologize for the late response to your post. Things have been hectic here getting the now Wife (we are officially married now) settled into the house.
It looks like you have everything squared away and ready for your interview. The only thing I would go over 1 more time is the Affidavit of support, make sure that he provided you with the Tax Transcripts and not his W-2's, pay stubs, or Tax Returns. China wants the Transcript obtained from the IRS (not a huge deal if you don't have it, it can be submitted later when requested, and he can email it to you to print out, this is one of the documents that doesn't need a wet signature on it).
As for the Hotel, if you are not 100% on your hotel, I recommend the Bolin International Apartments (16 Huacheng Ave, Tianhe, Guangzhou, Guangdong, China) 地址:广州天河区珠江新城花城大道16号铂林国际公寓(或者是:名门大廈建设银行)(they are literally 2 streets away from the Embassy), and there is an amazing restaurant right outside, the food they serve is really good. Unlike most of the other restaurants the food here reminded my wife of home because the family that runs the restaurant is from 山西省. Unlike many hotels in Guangzhou, this one caters to Chinese Nationals, so the beds are very akin to what you would be accustomed to. This way key for my wife to have a good night's sleep before her interview.
Your X-ray is on a DVD disc sealed in the Medical Envelope. When you have your interview, they will open all of the documents, including the medical packet, and return most of it back to you.
Unlike other consulates when you receive your approval and they give you back the medical with the X-ray disc. It will not be returned in a sealed envelope. So make sure you have a safe place to keep everything together. My wife kept everything in a document folder with a zipper on it.
I wish you the best of luck with your interview.
Hey Chris,
Thanks a lot for all the thoughts and words you put in this. I'm back from Guangzhou already and I got approved. Yay!!!
I read your reply after my interview because I had an early appointment at 7:45. But still, I really appreciate your help. And I went to find the good restaurant you recommended. Not sure if it is the right one. But they serve the awesome 早茶 tea breakfast. I'll write more on consulate review section.

Looks like you will be fine, just compare it to the Packet 3 & 4 check-off lists. I included a link to the P3 letter/list earlier in this thread.
Hope that the weather is still reasonable in Guangzhou at this time of year. My then-fiancee's and step-son's K1/K2 visa interviews were in late June, the weather was quite sultry. I made the jaunt from Seattle to be with them at this very important step in our immigration journey. What an experience !!! I just brought along the paperwork, and provided moral support. It is unreal that it has been almost four years since that event.
Get a good night's sleep. Don't let the Chinese workers in the consulate get to you, they can be rather brusque in their comments about what you are trying to do.
Good luck on your immigration journey.
Thank you so much for your kind words. I've double triple checked my list. And I think I'll be fine!
It's such a long journey for you! It will also be long for all the K1 filers. Can't imagine what keeps us all together and hang in for years...
You are very considerate and loving to your wife and your step-son. My fiance is currently studying in UCSD so he can't be here. But I know his heart is here with me!

Won't that be done at the medical examination, which should be completed before the visa interview appointment, at one of the GUZ consulate's designated panel sites/physicians? The sealed medical report should be brought to the visa interview.

Good luck on your immigration journey.
I got X-ray done at the med...
Pitaya, the PDF documents that you shared... All the links can't be found. Isn't some of the forms no longer be required? Like DS-156/157/230/156k???
Thanks and all the best.
-
Looks like you've got everything. How about x-ray?
X-ray is part of the MED and I've got my med report. I think the X-ray report is also sealed in the packet.
Is it not??
-
Not sure if it's the same in China, but in Australia you needed an original birth certificate
Yes, it is quite different in China. It requires notarial certificate of birth. And also being translated into English.
Just wondering what else do I need...?
-
Hi K1 filers,
I'm three days before the interview date and now I'm super nervous again...
I've got
1. Medical report
2. Affidavit of financial support and evidence of income (my fiance's and his father's)
3. Notarization of birth certificate + non-married declaration + police certificates
4. Evidence of relationship
Like photos and chat logs and plane tix and visa stamps etc...
5. P4 letter
6. My resume
7. Passport
8. Two passport photos
9. Confirmation page of DS-160
I've also booked my flights to Guangzhou Consulate and the hotels nearby. It's walkabe distance.
What else do I need? My fiance is in the U.S. so I'm gonna heading Guangzhou alone. I don't wanna leave anything behind.
Any experience/ advise is appreciated! Thanks in advance!
Joanna

If he's going to mail you the signed documents, I would recommend he look into using either DHL or FedEx. I mailed my I-134 as well as my cosponsor's to my fiance via DHL. I mailed him two copies of each of these (with original signatures on both copies), as well as two copies of all of the other things required and recommended (tax docs, letters from employers, bank, proof of relationship, etc). The package ended up weighing a pound and cost about $120 to ship. Worth the cost, though, as now I know he has everything he needs and it arrived on the exact day they said it would (I think it took about 10 days--they do have even faster options for higher price).
He mail me his I-134 yesterday through UPS. And the estimate delivery time is April 25. Yay!!! Costs him a lot but totally worth it! -
I called local 公证处 before I went back to my hometown. And the stuffs who work there will let u know what do they need to get you the documents. As to the unmarried declaration, 公证处 has examples for you. So if i were you, I would call 公证处 first.
-
Hi,
For some cities, you can't get the marital status certificate. Like me, I'm from Fujian province. I called the local 公证处 and they told me that marriage in the USA can't get the notarization of marital status. However, you can make an unmarried declaration. They can notarize that for you.
As to police certificates, you need to go back to your hometown and get it done by yourself. Because as you said, they need to collect your finger prints. So...
-
You need the real I-134 when I was there a couple got told they needed one with fresh signature. If it looks scanned they will give you an RFE. Please make sure he mails it to you, or comes in person to visit with it.
I was also advised by a few China members here not scan or fax a copy over, they want the one with the ink signature.
Sure. I'll tell him.
Did you check your case status on Ceac.state.gov before you get P4? I mean after sending back P3 until you get your P4? Is it AP?
I'm at this status and hope that means they got my P3 and ready to move forward...
-
Not sure why P4 is taking longer. It's an email, not a letter, so at least you don't have to worry about it being lost in the mail. Check your junk folder?
For the affidavit (I-134) you DO need one from him, regardless of him having a sponsor.
I am also a student, also having a family member help sponsor. So, I provided my I-134, and a reference letter from my bank. Because I have a scholarship that provides a stipend, I also had a letter from my scholarship provider and a letter from my school certifying that I am a student in good standing, receiving a scholarship. Of course, I also gave him my last 3 tax returns/W2s. For the I-134, because I believe you are supposed to have original signatures on these documents, I printed two copies, and signed each of them and mailed them to him. They just arrived there yesterday, exactly when DHL promised me they would!
Yes, definitely have him bring the offer letter from his new job.
Hope that helps!
Yes Rasaco. That's very useful. I checked my junk folder everyday for at least 3 times. And my fiance is planing to scan me his I-134 instead of mailing it to me. I was told that wouldn't be a big issue. I don't know...
Joanna,
The attached Image is the Exact P4 that we received. Please look and compare to the email you received already to see if you already got P4 and just were unsure if this short letter was what you were expecting.
I tried to attach the Image of P4, but it was too large for the site, so I uploaded it to my Onedrive (Microsoft servers are accessible from China).
Thanks Chris but I can't open the link... I don't think I get the P4 because I had my fiance wrote to Guangzhou consulate. They replied on Monday saying that they haven't received my Packet... But I checked yesterday(Tuesday) on ceac.state.gov. My case status is changed to AP again which was updated the day before yesterday... When I checked again today, it updated yesterday but still AP. I kind of confused... might have worry at the same time...

The resume is one of the required documents. There have been other discussions about why it is required, and the consensus is that they want to know what skills are being brought to America (and whether any potentially dangerous skills are being brought over). Not to steal Chris' thunder, but yes, you should bring a resume.
OK. I'll start preparing them soon just in case. Thanks a lot Rasaco!
Thank you very much, It had been 4 months since I last saw her, so regardless of the interview I was going to make another trip to China. It took us about a week(6 total days, 4 Working Days) to receive P4, it will be sent via email to the address you provided when you went through P3. A copy of P3 was sent to both her and myself, since we listed both of our email addresses.
I think there is nothing I can do so I'm gonna wait patiently. While doing so, I'm going to climb Huang Shan tomorrow. Haha~~~
A pleasant interview experience...
