Congrats Chris!!! It's very thoughtful for you to travel to China and do all of this for your future Mrs.
I'm still waiting for my P4... It has been a week after the consulate received my packet. Don't know how long does it take......
BTW, did your fiance bring her resume to the interview? I was told that might be needed during the interview...
Thanks.

Is it really nobody take med in Shanghai???
Then is there anybody who can tell me about the proceeding time from P3 to P4 Please???

Hi K1 filers,
May I ask that how long does it take for Guangzhou consulate to proceed P4 after they receive P3?
Here is my situation... I got my P3 on April 9th and sent out on April 10th. According to Shunfeng Express, my packet was received on April 12th. I paid my interview fee and scheduled my interview on CGI stanley afterwards. Even I haven't got my P4 yet!!! And my interview date is on May 3rd and I stupidly bought my flight which leaves on May 2nd...
Now my problem is... The designated panel physician in Shanghai requires not only interview confirmation but also two copies of P4 letter. This is what it says in the website. Other designated panel physicians don't ask for copies of P4... As I'm kind of running out of time. Can I just go with my interview confirmation?
PLEASE HELP and thanks in advance!!!

Yeah, it's confusing. Have you already filled out your DS-160? (https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/)
DS-160 is an online form that P3 will instruct you to fill out. You can get started on that now if you haven't already. Just follow the instructions on the website above.
P3 will tell you to fill that out, and to mail back the confirmation page from DS-160, 2 passport photos, and a copy of your passport. So get all of that ready to go.
After you mail those things back, you will get P4, which for us was just an email, not a physical letter. It will tell you that you should sign up for an interview at the ustraveldocs site. If you have ever visited the US before and a travel company helped book your visa, you will want to get in touch with that travel company to ask them for your password.
For paying the fee on ustraveldocs, I believe you have to pay through CITIC bank. My fiance had never used that bank in the past, and said that even though he just wanted to pay the fee online, he ended up having to go to a bank to talk to someone in person in order to be able to pay online. Maybe others have had better experiences, but he wasn't impressed with this bank.
So, to summarize your next steps:
1. Fill out DS-160
2. Mail them the things they ask for in P3
3. Make sure you have access to your ustraveldocs website account (may be as simple as opening or logging back into an account, or may involve asking a travel company to hand over your password)
4. Receive P4, in my case it was just an email (many people seem to schedule their interview before receiving P4 and don't seem to have any problems)
5. Pay the fee using CITIC bank by following the steps on the ustraveldocs site.
6. View interview calendar on ustraveldocs and book interview! :-D
7. Prepare materials needed for your interview, as outlined in PDF I'm attaching here:
I'm really appreciate your help Rasaco! As I have received my P3 and sent it out yesterday. I also paid my interview fee and scheduled my interview today. Haha~~~ So exciting!!! Now I need to gathering materials... Your PDF saves me quite a lot of trouble!
How's yours going? Sorry I have been worrying my own stuff for days and hasn't cared anything else...

Congrats on getting P3! I asked my fiance, and he says he didn't get any email. Just a phone call from EMS. I guess your email address must have been on there somewhere...
Yes, after you return P3 and pay the interview fee, you can go ahead and schedule your interview. Technically, they say that they want you to wait until you get P4, but it seems like everyone on this site just goes ahead and schedules asap.
My fiance called the consulate to ask about this, and they told him they prefer he wait for P4, so that's what we did. However nobody here seems to have had any issues just scheduling right away.
Thanks very much Rasaco. I can't imagine what I would react if I don't have your suggestions or your company...
Just noticed that the packet already in Shanghai but EMS doesn't work on weekends...
I don't know what to do after I get P3. I hope they have quite clear directions on paying the interview fee and scheduling the interview.
-
Our P3 was also delivered through EMS.
After I replied to Rasaco last night, I got an email from EMS saying that a packet was delivered from Guangzhou. I'm so happy but also wondering why would I got an email alert from EMS. I didn't put any email address in my application... Did you guys get any email from EMS?
One more question... Is it true that I can schedule my interview after I deliver the packet back to Guangzhou? Of course also after I pay the interview fee.
Thanks in advance.

I know it's tough, but 4 months still counts as really good time. I couldn't see interview openings other than the nearest one until we paid. Here's what the schedule looks like now
Thanks very much Rasaco It seems the schedule is opening a month ahead. And it fills up day by day...
Btw, I have been on AP status for several days and haven't got my packet. Did you receive P3 through Shunfeng (SF-Express) or EMS? I hope they deliver the packets on weekends too...
-
AP before P3 is a good sign. It usually means that your P3 is right around the corner. We went from ready to AP, and within 2 days of AP we received P3.
Really? Thanks a lot!!! I was so nervous coz I saw it was ready on March 31st. And then I checked today and it says AP. I hope it won't take long coz it has been almost four months since we started to apply our K-1 Visa. My fiance emailed consulate about my Chinese mailing address two days ago so I hope our P3 will arrive just as fast as yours!!!
I'm tense almost everyday. I told my mom last night that I might be able to go home after my interview if I can schedule it earlier. She was so happy. Because earlier before I was afraid I wouldn't be able to go home before my fiance's graduation ceremony. So I probably fly out of Shanghai to San Diego directly. That's why I keep tracking my case everyday.
Thanks again for sharing your news with me Chris.

Hang in there. The good news is, there have been lots of available interview slots posted lately. As soon as things get moving for you, you might be able to book an interview right away! Good luck!
Thanks Rasaco! I just check my case status and it says AP. I haven't got my P3 how could I possibly get AP? I'm confused... May I ask where did you check the interview slots? I logged in ustraveldocs.com and can only see the nearest slot. That is on May 3rd. Nothing else...

same here, NOA2 on March 4th, NVC hasn't received the packet yet
Hey, I called the NVC myself this morning and they said that my case has been forwarded to the Chinese Embassy already. But the status in USCIS website didn't change. I'm still very excited! I got the GUZ case number and I'm waiting for my packet now. Hope you guys hear yours soon.
-
Hi guys,
I got my NOA2 on Feb 25th Californian time. And I haven't heard anything either... I asked my fiancé to call NVC today. I totally get your feelings because I feel the same way. This long waiting almost drives me crazy. I can't even sleep tonight and it's after midnight in China...
-
Rasaco took 5 weeks for the package to be received by the consulate. Ours took 21 days from NOA2. Every case will be different, sadly the best advice we can give you is to be patient.
Thank you. It's just it has been more than a month since we got NOA2. I'm going to lose my patience and I just hope anybody could come up and let me know that it's going forward or tell me when it's the latest time to deal with our case... I've got almost all of my paper works ready in the last several months. My fiancé even brought me the documents from U.S. to me last time he visited me. He went back two days ago and I can't stand being apart from him any longer...
-
It took us about a month and a week from noa 2 until he received the packet from the consulate (just got it yesterday, so excited!). Seems like the time can vary quite a bit depending on how fast the consulate is moving forward with their paperwork. Hang in there! While you wait, you can start preparing the things you'll need to send back. Passport styLe photos, copy of passport, and paperwork.
Once you get P3, you can schedule your interview. The current trend on that is that they release the interview sign-ups about a month in advance.
Hope that helps! I know the wait is nerve racking.
Congratulations and thanks a lot. Sorry for the late reply. It has been a month after NOA2 and I checked on USCIS for any progress. Nothing updates there. So I'm pretty nervous.

Hey Last December applicants here...
After RFE, my fiance and I got NOA2 on February 25th. Really wondering how long does it take to process until scheduling interview in China... It seems like it takes a long time to deliver the package to Chinese consulate... I'm so nervous...
Anybody wants to share your feelings with me? Sincerely Thanks.

1. Since our case is dealt in CSC, how long does it usually take to get the NOA2 after we reply RFE tomorrow? Can't say but we've been seeing about 1-2 months.
2. My fiance has a graduation ceremony in the middle of June. Do you guys think I can get approved in time so I can join his ceremony?
IT would be very close. Figure another month for NVC after NOA2 and the two months or so for the Embassy and to get to the interview.
Hmm... We just agreed to ask his dad to provide the tax record early. So he can bring it to me on March. And I'll try to cut every break that might delay our application. Thanks a lot for you help!
-
Personally, I wouldn't add more things to the RFE than what it asks for. I.e. if it asks for your fiance's court records, then send the court records but nothing else. You can bring more evidence to the interview if you want.
So are you worried that his police record is gonna mess up the visa or that you won't be there in time for his graduation? I know criminal history is a little different when you're doing the K-1 but I seriously doubt possession of alcohol is gonna matter in your visa process. It's just a small delay for when you respond to the RFE, which is again why I wouldn't send more than is being asked.
Thank you for your answers.
The reason I add more things is mainly because it does no harm to my application. His last visit happened after we applied for K1 visa. What's more, I checked on VJ that says a lot of people even get a 2nd RFE which requires more evidence of the relationship. That's why I don't want to do all over that again. It's only three papers tops. So...

Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie. I wanna share my story here because I'm kind of worried and I don't want to put my emotions on anybody especially on my fiance.
Here is my story. Me and my fiance met in our last job in Shanghai China where we were together for 13 months. Then he went back to the U.S. for his master degree in UCSD. We are still doing our long distance relationship but we keep seeing each other every three or four months... Well, we applied for K1 VISA on Dec 12, 2015 then we got NOA1 on Dec 21,2015. Then on February 1st, 2016, a RFE for court records is required. My fiance was in possession of alcohol. And all FIVE of them. He got the court records from the court today. So we are planing on deliver the package tomorrow including his last visit after we applied and also the flight receipt of his coming visit. We have quite strong proves for our relationship. I visited his hometown twice. And we got pictures of us every time we went on trips both in China and U.S.
My questions are:
1. Since our case is dealt in CSC, how long does it usually take to get the NOA2 after we reply RFE tomorrow?
2. My fiance has a graduation ceremony in the middle of June. Do you guys think I can get approved in time so I can join his ceremony?
I know it's useless to worried but I'm really time sensitive! I've got my notarization done and his dad is willing to be our financial sponsor. So... please advise.
Thanks in advance!
Joanna

Still waiting for my P4.... Really wonder how long does it to proceed P4 from P3...
CGI Stanley almost has no more slot for K1 visa. So I really don't want to reschedule my interview unless I have to...
...
...
No more worries...
...
However, I do have a question...
My fiance is currently a grad student in UCSD. He has a job offer in San Francisco which starts in July. His father is willing to be our financial sponsor. So he delivered his 3-year tax returns and I-134 and other required documents thanks to VJ to me. Does my fiance still need to deliver his I-134 to me? He is planing to scan me his offer to let me bring with.
Any help is appreciated!!!
