hello all,,,
I just wanted to get an opinion from everyone on the following topic. I have been reading this form for a while. Lately, I saw couple of posts mentinoning that two doses of MMR & Vericella are required. Did most of you (for AOS) had two doses of the above vaccines? My wife got 1 shot of MMR and Vericella so far. Do you have to take two doses of each? or its a matter of CS doctor (here in US) who decides that while he is filling out I693A form? can you please share your experience/what you guys did..?? thanks everyone

You will be fine to travel.
Enjoy your trip
Where do you read "horror" story with RFE and interviews?
-
Did they bring it up at the interview? I told my SO that I didn't think it would be a big problem. I said they might mention it. If they do I told her to give a brief answer and act like its not a big deal. I told her it is better to be prepared with a response prior to the interview.
They did. The officer asked my fiancé “So you have been in the USA before?”
She answer “No I didn’t. I wanted to but you denied me a tourist visa”

same story here
The tourist visa denial was not a problem on the K1 interview. Relax

Hello everyone,
Once again, I am in need of some clarifications. My husband went to get his vaccinations taken last week from a CS so we could send in his AOS paperwork. He didn’t take the required vaccinations in his medical in Mexico (for his K1 visa) so he needed to take them here in the U.S.
The doctor gave him a TD shot, an MMR shot, and a varicella shot. On the I-693A, he listed that he administered these shots and then marked INSUFFICIENT TIME INTERVAL in another column. They also gave us an appointment to go back in a month, for another set of vaccines (TD, MMR, and Varicella), which will cost us another $235.
Does this mean that he needs to get all of these vaccines again?
Is it because he has no record of these vaccines that he needs to take them again? He says that he doesn’t think his mother has a record of the vaccines he’s received since childhood. So if she has no record, will he need to get these vaccines here in the U.S.?
Here is what he needs

My Fiancee called and scheduled an appointment with Dr. Nora Lari 422-5979. She gave her one a week from Monday. Also, if you have any medical records I advise you to bring them. My Fiancee had taken some shots recently and will bring her card with her ( and her son). The doctors office said than to bring an addition $200/soles for vaccinations per person. So if you do call and schedule an appointment make sure to ask if there are to be any additional costs incurred.
Best Regards,

I'm really worried about something. Fran arrived hear March 18, 2007. We got married March 22nd. We went to apply for a Social Security number shortly thereafter, and we got it. No questions asked. She printed out a paper that said Temporary Employment Authorized. We freaked out because we thought that that was impossible. She said he has temporary permission to work until his K1 status expires which is June 16. So, he started working. Then we get his SS card in the mail today and it says not valid for work without DHS authorization. So, what gives? Did we screw up or what?
Everything is OK. He is working.

Hi everyone,
I need some advice....
My husband got a 90 work authorization when he flew thru JFK. It expires on 5/26/07. He is currently interviewing for serveral jobs right now. I am worried that he wont get them because of the work permit expiring. We have not applied for AOS yet because we are still saving money. If he did get a job we would have enough money to apply, but we would still have to wait the 90 days for the EAD. Anyone have any advice? What should we tell the potential employers if they ask about this? Thanks in advance!
Kim
Your husband should show his EAD when he is asked.
Relax and read more info:

Hello, can I white out some information on the evidence for the interview? Like account number and balance of the joint bank account etc. ?
Did you white out the account number on the payment check?

Hi everyone, this is for my friend.......(not for me....see my timeline...i am already half done with the process)
she married her husband in India and her marriage in India is registered...but right after the wedding she came to USA with her husband as she already had the visitor visa.....
Now her hubby who is the USC wants to apply for her....what is the best way to apply for her??
Any thoughts...has any one done it this way before?
Is it Adjustment of Status now? does she have to file 1-485....or go the 1130 way...
Please help!!
Can't they remarry again in the USA?

You know, it partly situations like this one "come over on a visitor's visa, marry and file for AOS" that really upset me and make the long times we K1-ers have to wait for approval that much harder to take!!!!
Circumventing the system is not a legal or palatable option! This forum is for general discussion on the K-1 fiancee visa.
Why do people come here w/ the guise of looking at visa 'options' and ask "Can my fiancee come here on a tourist visa and we get married?" If that is a question you want to ask, post it on either AOS, Off Topic or even the Regional Discussion Board for your area, but not in the K-1 foum. The rest of us, who are doing this the legal way and a hard enough time as it is, should not be burdened w/ having to advise someone else on how to/or not to screw the system.
In the long run those who do not do things the right way end up stigmatizing all immigrants, legal or not!
I'm sorry if that is harsh. Being a legal immigrant myself, who had to wait 2 years to emigrate here in States,I have no sympathy for those who want an instant fix just because they don't want to wait 6-9 months to get married.

Hello everyone!
The situation is as follows:
I am the US citizen. My girlfriend (soon to be wife) is in Israel. She has a tourist visa, and she's been over here a few times within the last year.
The big question is:
Would she be able to come over here for the 3rd time within the next few months using her tourist visa to get married and to stay here without going back to wait for the spousal Visa?
Or would it be better for us to work on getting the fiance visa? Or is there a different option altogether that I've missed.
I am really new to this and just starting to look at our options.
ANY help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
If you propose after her arrival you are fine.

This is well after the stages VJ usually deals with, and a tributary topic to the area discussion -- my Russian wife and I (and it's thanks to VisaJourney we pulled that off) just want to take a holiday jaunt to Germany. No problem for me. She, on the other hand, gets the Schengen action. In particular, the hangup is the need to show the embassy hotel reservations in order to get the visa.
I don't know how other people travel, but we're independent types ... blowing with the wind, making it up as we go, rolling into town and scrounging a cheap room from the dog-eared pages of a travel guide. Firming itineraries and booking hotel rooms in advance is sort of anathema to us, and in no way compatible with our trip planning at this point. We're also cheap-####### bastards.
When you go to Russia, you can get around a like requirement easily enough by paying a "tourist company" to issue you a "reservation" which is altogether fictitious, tipping a bit of hard currency bakhsheesh to the Russian economy to step over the red tape, and it's no sweat. Can one dance around this Schengen requirement with similar ease, or are those stern Alemanni bureaucrats less fierce in their application of the law, or what? Is it easy to "reserve" a stay and then cancel it once the papers are in hand? Any travel freelancers who've done the Schengen dance, we could use a bit of wisdom.
Danke, danke!
The requirements for tourist visa are the same to any country in Shengen Convention.
If your wife has green card she doesn’t need tourist visa for Switzerland.
U.S. Green Card Holders:
No visa is required for foreigners who have a valid U.S. green card (Permanent Resident Card, form I-551) and a valid national passport for tourism, visits, business or medical treatment for a stay up to 90 days. Both documents (passport and green card) must be valid at least 3 months after leaving Swiss territory.
Please note that the passport stamp "processed for I-551" is not considered a green card and that general visa requirements would apply in that case. The same rule also applies for the "Notice of Action" (Form I-751) and the "Authorization for Parole" (Form I-512).

I'm sorry, I wouldn't touch a person with a ten foot pole who is willing to procure AND use a fake passport!
I guess he already touched her

Background Posts: FIRST and SECOND
Well first, I just want to thank everyone for their help, thi forum is very helpful, the people here quickly respond and best of all, from what I have seen, very friendly (First forum i've seen with no flame wars
)
I have hit a lot of road blocks and a lof of you have helped me ram right through them without damage, but I am afraid I have hit the mother of all road blocks as of today and do not think that I can ram this one down or go around it. Although I do not want to, I am just going to lay it all out. I just recently got of the phone with my fiance, talking about the I-485, I-130, etc. pretty much all the forms we need to fill out to adjust her status from her overstayed tourist visa. Now (HERE COMES THE BAD PART) I knew she had another passport and visa with another name for reasons I don't think are too important to state because it's pretty obvious why. But, as of today, I found out she entered the US with this false passport and visa. We discussed this situation before when I met her, but I must have overheard her about the part of here entering the US with the false documents. So it turns out, yes her visa is expired, and yes she has overstayed, but not in "her" name, but the name in the other passport and visa. From here, I do not even know where to begin. I know she has to go and I told her that, but came her for maybe some advice or help, or maybe someone has been down this road (hopefully), I sure would like to hear their story, especially if they are now married and living in the US.
I know little about visa fraud and I am sure that my fiance has comitted just that. From seeing the term pop up a few times here, I know it is something to be feared.
Here's What I Have Been Thinking About As A Solution (From Worst To Greatest Idea):
1. Continue to apply for the AOS (I don't think this is now possible in my situation, even if she was married to me. She now does not have a I-94, which I believe is require to even apply, correct?)
2. Send her home and apply for a K1 Visa (If I did this, then our story on how we met would need to be modified during the interview and that is something I do not want to tinker with)
3. For me to move to Peru and live there happily ever after (this I do not want to do, but seems to be the perfect solution
)
Let's see, I have been sobbing for about 4 hours now and my body & heart aches a whole lot now, if anyone can provide any, please
I have heard about a person who won green card after he enter US the same way as your fiancé. He went back to his home country using the “other” passport and successfully processed the application.

I just wanted to vent for a moment about how frustrated I am about how difficult it is to get my husband's Romanian passport renewed (it expired last January.) Originally we sent paperwork to his sister to renew it for us, but were not able to do it because the power-of-attorney allowing her to do it for him was notarized, but did not have an apostille on it (apparently this is a stamp that you can get from the Secretary of State so that a notarized document can be recognized in other countries. Paul thought that the notary stamp was the same thing as the apostille.) So then we sent the passport to the Romanian embassy to be renewed (and were told it would take about six months) but they sent all the forms and documents back WITH NO EXPLANATION. When he called them, it turns out we have to register ourselves as married in Romania before he can renew his passport. The lady told him that he could do a power-of-attorney for that as well and get his sister to do it. Then he called back yesterday to ask a different question and another woman told him a power-of-attorney cannot be done to register a marriage. Supposedly he has to go to D.C. to register our marriage!!! When he explained that we had been told otherwise, she said that maybe he wasn't talking to the consular section the first time.
Anyway, does anyone know what the real deal is with registering marriage in Romania? Do you really have to appear at the embassy in person?
If your husband will get soon US passport don’t bother with the Romanian one.

Filing for AP/ EAD doesn't make sense if you have uncomplicated AOS case from K1 visa.
Really?
Another one of your pearls of wisdom?
Looking at our timeline it’s hard to question my wisdom.

Yup, we know. My approved time off from work for our civil marriage is April 4th - 16th anyway, there's no way he'd get that time off from work with a new job. Across the street from our apartment complex are long chains of stores and office buildings. So we're hoping he'll get the temp EAD and could walk across the street and get a cruddy little job for 2 - 3 weeks... quit it... we get married and file AOS/AP/EAD... April 17th I'll try to talk my boss into giving him a job at my place, if not he could go walking, but whatever the case he could work that last month and a half or whatever it is... then he'd have to quit, and start working again once we get the next EAD. But hey, any extra income is better than no extra income! And he's really struggling with feeling useless right now. It's me that's apartment hunting, it's me that's bringing in the main salary and the medical/dental benefits, etc. So anything to help him feel useful and like he's contributing will be great.
I haven't read about anyone getting the temp EAD in JFK for a while so I wasn't sure if we should hope for it or not? What does it look like? If they don't give it to him should he ask for it, and if so what's it called in immigration-people-language?
It's on the back of I-94 card and He doesn't have to quit his job after the expiration date unless he is asked to.

Hi Everyone,
Good luck on your immigration journeys. Anyways, I was wondering if a valid foreign (Canadian) passport is required for US Citizenship, as my passport will expire before (next year) I can apply for US Citizenship (in two years). Should I bother applying for a new foreign passport beforehand, even though I might not need it for travel, as I am not sure if a non-valid passport will affect my US Citizenship application later? Or should I just wait it out until I get US Citizenship for a US Passport?
Any suggestions, ideas, or thoughts appreciated. Thanks.
Ant
You don't need any passport for US Citizenship

From her medical examinations in Russia, my wife has a handwritten sheet that she says is about vaccinations. It has 2 stamps imprinted, but other than those it looks rather unofficial. I am wondering if this (with translation to English) will meet the requirements for the I-485, or if it's too risky?
Yes It worked for us this way:
Bring this form http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dq/pdf/ti-03/appdx-a_693vacc.pdf on you medical exam abroad to be completed and signed by the doctor.
After your marriage in USA send it with AOS documents.

You advise doing illegal things all the time. If I were the OP, I wouldn't heed a word you say.
Nothing illegal here
After reading this document: http://www.kamya.com/ssn/em00154.pdf it is not clear to me why EAD is even needed except after the initial 90 days of entry."Some I-94s issued to K-1s are stamped or annotated 'EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZED,' and some are not. Either way, the I-94 is proof a K-1 alien is authorized to work."
So...is this incorrect or what?
This is the Grey Area I'm TRYING to figure out...
Careful what you ask everyone will you think you're trying to get around the law vs figuring out it!!!
(still not sure how I "figured out a way to get around the law")
My wife went to work on the 91 day of her entry with K visa and guess what there were no immigration officers to arrest her.
Learn the rules then break some.

I finally was able to check the system too! I was touched again! I pray good news is coming. I would take anything right now. GC or EAD anything is fine with me! lol Any January filers heard good news????
One more touch for you
